Resurrection Power Luke 24:1-12
I. The Power of the Resurrection is Almighty Power. A. The Stone was rolled away! (Vs. 1-2) B. The body of Christ was gone! (v.3) C. Today, we are used to the age of Power. D. Oh, but the Resurrection power is the greatest of all.
E. The Power of the Trinity was involved in the resurrection. 1) The power of the Son. John 10:17-18, Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. 18 No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father.
2) The power of the Father. Ephesians 1:18-20, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power 20 which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places,
3) The power of the Spirit. Romans 1:4, declared to be the Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead.
II. The Power of the Resurrection is Amazing Power. A. The Resurrection has power to save the soul. (Vs. 4-11) B. No hope apart from the resurrection. 1 Corinthians 15:13-20, But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ is not risen. 14 And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is empty and your faith is also empty. 15 Yes, and we are found false witnesses of God, because we have testified of God that He raised up Christ, whom He did not raise up if in fact the dead do not rise. 16 For if the dead do not rise, then Christ is not risen. 17 And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins! 18 Then also those who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. 19 If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable. 20 But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the first-fruits of those who have fallen asleep.
C. The power of Christ to save: His life: 2 Cor. 5:21, For He (God) made Him (Christ) who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. His death: The wages of sin is death also, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Rom. 5:8b) His resurrection: But the gift of God is everlasting life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Rom. 6:23) D. "Why seek the living among the dead?" (v.5) - We were all spiritually dead in the trespasses of our sins. Ephesians 2:1, and you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, - We all can come to Christ and be made alive new!
John 3:16-18 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. 18 He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
No case is too difficult for Him to save. Hebrews 7:25, Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.
Come to Christ today at His bidding, and find real life! Romans 10:9-10 & 13, that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 13 For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
III. The Power of the Resurrection is Available Power. A. Power is worthless unless it is available. (v.12) B. God has made resurrection power available to us. - Are you tempted? - Are you depressed? - Are you defeated? 1 John 5:4, For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that overcomes the world our faith.
C. Do not put off salvation for fear you can't live the life. Romans 8:2-4, For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, 4 that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
