The Song of Moses: You ve Been Warned Part 2 Deuteronomy 31:30-32:22 2 Chronicles 15:2; 16:1, 3, 7, 9 15:2 and he went out to meet Asa and said to him, "Listen to me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin: the L-rd is with you when you are with Him And if you seek Him, He will let you find Him; but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you.. 11 / 1 / 14 Larry Feldman 2 Chronicles 15:2; 16:1, 3, 7, 9 16:1 In the thirty-sixth year of Asa's reign 2 Asa brought out silver and gold from the treasuries of the house of the L-rd and the king's house, and sent them to Ben-hadad king of Aram, who lived in Damascus, saying, 3 "Let there be a treaty between you and me, as between my father and your father. Behold, I have sent you silver and gold; go, break your treaty with Baasha king of Israel so that he will withdraw from me. 2 Chronicles 15:2; 16:1, 3, 7, 9 7 At that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah and said to him, "Because you have relied on the king of Aram and have not relied on the L-rd your G-d, therefore the army of the king of Aram has escaped out of your hand. 9 You have acted foolishly in this. Indeed, from now on you will surely have wars." When we reject G-d s GOODNESS and FAITHFULNESS, we can expect His ANGER and DISCIPLINE in our lives. I. We should remember and not forget G-d s blessings to us. 1

I. We should remember and not forget G-d s blessings to us. A. We should recount G-d s greatness I. We should remember and not forget G-d s blessings to us. A. We should recount G-d s greatness Deuteronomy 31:30 Then Moses spoke in the hearing of all the assembly of Israel the words of this song, until they were complete: Deuteronomy 32:1 "Give ear, O heavens, and let me speak; And let the earth hear the words of my mouth. Deuteronomy 32:2 "Let my teaching drop as the rain, My speech distill as the dew, As the droplets on the fresh grass And as the showers on the herb. Isaiah 55:10-11 10 "For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return there without watering the earth and making it bear and sprout, and furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater; 11 So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; it will not return to Me empty, without accomplishing what I desire, and without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it." Psalm 72:5-7 5 Let them fear You while the sun endures, and as long as the moon, throughout all generations. 6 May he come down like rain upon the mown grass, like showers that water the earth. 7 In his days may the righteous flourish, and abundance of peace till the moon is no more. 2

Deuteronomy 32:3 "For I proclaim the name of the L-rd; Ascribe greatness to our G-d! Psalm 29:1-5, 7-9 1 Ascribe to the L-RD, O sons of the mighty, ascribe to the L-RD glory and strength. 2 ascribe to the L-RD the glory due to His name; worship the L-RD in holy array. 3 The voice of the L-RD is upon the waters; the G-d of glory thunders, the L-RD is over many waters. 4 The voice of the L-RD is powerful, the voice of the L-RD is majestic. Psalm 29:1-5, 7-9 5 The voice of the L-RD breaks the cedars; yes, the L-RD breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon. 7 The voice of the L-RD hews out flames of fire. 8 The voice of the L-RD shakes the wilderness; the L-RD shakes the wilderness of Kadesh. 9 The voice of the L-RD makes the deer to calve and strips the forests bare; and in His temple everything says, "Glory!" Revelation 4:10-11 10 The twenty-four elders will fall down before Him who sits on the throne, and will worship Him who lives forever and ever, and will cast their crowns before the throne, saying, 11 "Worthy are You, our L-rd and our G-d, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and because of Your will they existed, and were created." Revelation 5:11-14 11 Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne and the living creatures and the elders; and the number of them was myriads of myriads, and thousands of thousands, 12 saying with a loud voice, "Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing." Revelation 5:11-14 13 And every created thing which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all things in them, I heard saying, "To Him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb, be blessing and honor and glory and dominion forever and ever." 14 And the four living creatures kept saying, "Amen" and the elders fell down and worshiped. 3

Deuteronomy 32:4 "The Rock! His work is perfect, For all His ways are just; a G-d of faithfulness and without injustice, righteous and upright is He. I. We should remember and not forget G-d s blessings to us. A. We should recount G-d s greatness B. We should recall G-d s goodness and blessings Deuteronomy 32:5-6 5 "They have acted corruptly toward Him, they are not His children, because of their defect; but are a perverse and crooked generation. 6 "Do you thus repay the L-rd, O foolish and unwise people? Is not He your Father who has bought you? He has made you and established you. Psalm 116:12-13 12 What shall I render to the L-rd For all His benefits toward me? 13 I shall lift up the cup of salvation And call upon the name of the L-rd. Deuteronomy 32:7-9 7 "Remember the days of old, consider the years of all generations. Ask your father, and he will inform you, Your elders, and they will tell you. 8 "When the Most High gave the nations their inheritance, when He separated the sons of man, He set the boundaries of the peoples according to the number of the sons of Israel. 9 "For the L-rd's portion is His people; Jacob is the allotment of His inheritance. Deuteronomy 2:2-5, 8, 9, 19 2 "And the L-rd spoke to me, saying, 3 'You have circled this mountain long enough. Now turn north, 4 and command the people, saying, "You will pass through the territory of your brothers the sons of Esau who live in Seir; and they will be afraid of you. So be very careful; 5 do not provoke them, for I will not give you any of their land, even as little as a footstep because I have given Mount Seir to Esau as a possession. 4

Deuteronomy 2:2-5, 8, 9, 19 8 So we passed beyond our brothers the sons of Esau, who live in Seir, away from the Arabah road, away from Elath and from Ezion-geber. And we turned and passed through by the way of the wilderness of Moab. 9 "Then the L-rd said to me, 'Do not harass Moab, nor provoke them to war, for I will not give you any of their land as a possession, because I have given Ar to the sons of Lot as a possession. Deuteronomy 2:2-5, 8, 9, 19 19 'When you come opposite the sons of Ammon, do not harass them nor provoke them, for I will not give you any of the land of the sons of Ammon as a possession, because I have given it to the sons of Lot as a possession.' Genesis 17:20; 13:14-17 17:20 "As for Ishmael, I have heard you; behold, I will bless him, and will make him fruitful and will multiply him exceedingly He shall become the father of twelve princes, and I will make him a great nation. 13:14 The L-rd said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him, "Now lift up your eyes and look from the place where you are, northward and southward and eastward and westward; Genesis 17:20; 13:14-17 15 for all the land which you see, I will give it to you and to your descendants forever. 16 "I will make your descendants as the dust of the earth, so that if anyone can number the dust of the earth, then your descendants can also be numbered. 17 "Arise, walk about the land through its length and breadth; for I will give it to you." Psalm 105:8-11 8 He has remembered His covenant forever, the word which He commanded to a thousand generations, 9 the covenant which He made with Abraham, and His oath to Isaac. 10 Then He confirmed it to Jacob for a statute, to Israel as an everlasting covenant, 11 saying, "To you I will give the land of Canaan as the portion of your inheritance." I. We should remember and not forget G-d s blessings to us. A. We should recount G-d s greatness B. We should recall G-d s goodness and blessings C. We should reflect on our beginnings with G-d 5

Deuteronomy 32:10-12 10 "He found him in a desert land, and in the howling waste of a wilderness; He encircled him, He cared for him, He guarded him as the pupil of His eye. 11 "Like an eagle that stirs up its nest, that hovers over its young, He spread His wings and caught them, He carried them on His pinions. 12 "The L-rd alone guided him, and there was no foreign god with him. Deuteronomy 32:13-14 13 "He made him ride on the high places of the earth, and he ate the produce of the field; and He made him suck honey from the rock, and oil from the flinty rock, 14 Curds of cows, and milk of the flock, with fat of lambs, and rams, the breed of Bashan, and goats, with the finest of the wheat and of the blood of grapes you drank wine. II. We should beware of our turning, rebelling and forsaking G-d. II. We should beware of our turning, rebelling and forsaking G-d. A. We should not forsake and forget G-d II. We should beware of our turning, rebelling and forsaking G-d. A. We should not forsake and forget G-d Deuteronomy 32:15 "But Jeshurun grew fat and kicked -- You are grown fat, thick, and sleek -- Then he forsook G-d who made him, and scorned the Rock of his salvation. Judges 2:11-13 11 Then the sons of Israel did evil in the sight of the L-rd and served the Baals, 12 and they forsook the L-rd, the G-d of their fathers, who had brought them out of the land of Egypt, and followed other gods from among the gods of the peoples who were around them, and bowed themselves down to them; thus they provoked the L-rd to anger. 13 So they forsook the L-rd and served Baal and the Ashtaroth. 6

Judges 3:7, 12 7 The sons of Israel did what was evil in the sight of the L-rd, and forgot the L-rd their G-d and served the Baals and the Asheroth. 12 Now the sons of Israel again did evil in the sight of the L-rd So the L-rd strengthened Eglon the king of Moab against Israel, because they had done evil in the sight of the L-rd. Judges 4:1 Then the sons of Israel again did evil in the sight of the L-rd, after Ehud died. Judges 6:1 Then the sons of Israel did what was evil in the sight of the L-rd; and the L-rd gave them into the hands of Midian seven years. Judges 8:33, 34 33 Then it came about, as soon as Gideon was dead, that the sons of Israel again played the harlot with the Baals, and made Baal-berith their god. 34 Thus the sons of Israel did not remember the L-rd their G-d, who had delivered them from the hands of all their enemies on every side. 1 Timothy 6:9-10 9 But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a snare and many foolish and harmful desires which plunge men into ruin and destruction. 10 For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. 1 Timothy 6:17-19 17 Instruct those who are rich in this present world not to be conceited or to fix their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on G-d, who richly supplies us with all things to enjoy. 18 Instruct them to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, 19 storing up for themselves the treasure of a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is life indeed. II. We should beware of our turning, rebelling and forsaking G-d. A. We should not forsake and forget G-d B. We should not replace G-d with anything 7

Deuteronomy 32:16-18 16 "They made Him jealous with strange gods; with abominations they provoked Him to anger. 17 "They sacrificed to demons who were not G-d, to gods whom they have not known, new gods who came lately, whom your fathers did not dread. 18 "You neglected the Rock who begot you, and forgot the G-d who gave you birth. Exodus 32:4 He took this from their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool and made it into a molten calf; and they said, "This is your god, O Israel, who brought you up from the land of Egypt." Amos 5:25-27 25 "Did you present Me with sacrifices and grain offerings in the wilderness for forty years, O house of Israel? 26 "You also carried along Sikkuth your king and Kiyyun, your images, the star of your gods which you made for yourselves. 27 "Therefore, I will make you go into exile beyond Damascus," says the L-rd, whose name is the G-d of hosts. Judges 10:6 Then the sons of Israel again did evil in the sight of the L-rd, served the Baals and the Ashtaroth, the gods of Aram, the gods of Sidon, the gods of Moab, the gods of the sons of Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines; thus they forsook the L-rd and did not serve Him. Psalm 106:28, 34-39 28 They joined themselves also to Baal-peor, and ate sacrifices offered to the dead. 34 They did not destroy the peoples, as the L-rd commanded them, 35 But they mingled with the nations and learned their practices, 36 and served their idols, which became a snare to them. 37 They even sacrificed their sons and their daughters to the demons, Psalm 106:28, 34-39 38 and shed innocent blood, the blood of their sons and their daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan; and the land was polluted with the blood. 39 Thus they became unclean in their practices, and played the harlot in their deeds. 8

III. We should fear G-d s anger and discipline. III. We should fear G-d s anger and discipline. A. We may lose G-d s presence in our lives III. We should fear G-d s anger and discipline. A. We may lose G-d s presence in our lives Deuteronomy 32:19-20 19 "The L-rd saw this, and spurned them because of the provocation of His sons and daughters. 20 "Then He said, 'I will hide My face from them, I will see what their end shall be; for they are a perverse generation, sons in whom is no faithfulness. Romans 1:21, 24, 26, 28 21 For even though they knew G-d, they did not honor Him as G-d or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. 24 Therefore G-d gave them over 26 For this reason G-d gave them over 28 And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge G-d any longer, G-d gave them over III. We should fear G-d s anger and discipline. A. We may lose G-d s presence in our lives B. We can expect G-d s anger and discipline Deuteronomy 32:21-22 21 'They have made Me jealous with what is not G-d; they have provoked Me to anger with their idols so I will make them jealous with those who are not a people; I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation, 22 for a fire is kindled in My anger, and burns to the lowest part of Sheol, and consumes the earth with its yield, and sets on fire the foundations of the mountains. 9

Psalm 106:40-43 40 Therefore the anger of the L-rd was kindled against His people and He abhorred His inheritance. 41 Then He gave them into the hand of the nations, and those who hated them ruled over them. 42 Their enemies also oppressed them, and they were subdued under their power. 43 Many times He would deliver them; they, however, were rebellious in their counsel, and so sank down in their iniquity. Proverbs 1:24-33 24 "Because I called and you refused, I stretched out my hand and no one paid attention; 25 and you neglected all my counsel and did not want my reproof; 26 I will also laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your dread comes, 27 when your dread comes like a storm and your calamity comes like a whirlwind, when distress and anguish come upon you. Proverbs 1:24-33 28 "Then they will call on me, but I will not answer; they will seek me diligently but they will not find me, 29 because they hated knowledge and did not choose the fear of the L-rd. 30 "They would not accept my counsel, they spurned all my reproof. 31 "So they shall eat of the fruit of their own way and be satiated with their own devices. Proverbs 1:24-33 32 "For the waywardness of the naive will kill them, and the complacency of fools will destroy them. 33 "But he who listens to me shall live securely and will be at ease from the dread of evil." Conclusion A Warning 10

2 Kings 5:26-27 26 Then he said to him, "Did not my heart go with you, when the man turned from his chariot to meet you? Is it a time to receive money and to receive clothes and olive groves and vineyards and sheep and oxen and male and female servants? 27 "Therefore, the leprosy of Naaman shall cling to you and to your descendants forever." So he went out from his presence a leper as white as snow. When we reject G-d s GOODNESS and FAITHFULNESS, we can expect His ANGER and DISCIPLINE in our lives.
