LIVING LIFE TO THE FULLEST Sylvester Onyemalechi Life is from God and full of excitement and challenges. It is a blend of good and bad. Life can only be lived successfully with God s help and the diligent application of the principles of God revealed in the word of God. Life can be what you want it to be depending on whom you are, and your relationship with God. Since life is from God, it will be proper that all live life in God and through His Spirit. Many have their own thoughts and opinion about life and how to live it, but men s opinion cannot challenge or replace God s definition of life and principles on how to live it. It is a man s understanding of things that determine how he deals with it. In the same way, a man s understanding of life determines how he lives life. And how he lives determines his experiences in life. It is therefore, very important that insight be sought and understanding be gained about life from God. GOD S DEFINITION OF LIFE Gen 2:7 7 the LORD God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being. John 14:6 6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. Jesus is life. God is life. All life comes from God. The life you call your own is God s life given to you to live for His pleasure and glory. Rev 4:11 11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created. KJV You were created according to this scripture for God s pleasure. The ultimate purpose of God creating man is that man through his life will bring Him pleasure. To live for God s pleasure is to please God daily with your life. It is to make God happy with your life. It is to live in such a way that God is glorified and honoured. You were not created just to live for your own pleasure or the pleasure of another, but for God. When you please God and not man, you will be happy also. So, if man is not to live for his own pleasure but for the pleasure of God, it means he does not own his life and he cannot live just as he likes. 13 IMPORTANT TRUTHS ABOUT LIFE 1. You cannot know more about life more than the author of life.

2. If God is the author of life, He is in a better position to tell us how to live life to the fullest and enjoy it. 3. You have only one life, and you have to be careful how you live it for you will have no opportunity to relive it all over again. 4. Every experience in life is a creation of the daily decisions of man in response to the things that confront him and come his way. 5. The foundation of successful living is the acknowledgement of the truth that life is from God and can only be lived well walking with God in partnership and faithful obedience. 6. Allowing friends to influence you negatively and cause your life to be lived according to their desire and leading is foolishness and will cost you great pain and punishment. Avoid pear pressure and those who can influence you negatively. You must not live your life to be accepted by people. If people accept you and God reject you, what do you gain? If God accept you, men will eventually accept you, while the wicked and ungodly will reject you. 7. Every man has a lifespan allocated to Him by the creator of man and the giver of all life. Though the actual terminal date for each man is not known except revealed by God to Him or another, which is seldom done, you will not die before your time. No one can cut your life short if it is not decreed so by God. The day you die is the day God has decreed you will die. So, stop being afraid of death. You can never die before your time. 8. Jesus came primarily to give us abundant life, so, only Christ can give a man a meaningful and fulfilling life. Outside of Christ, life is meaningless and outside the will of God. A man can achieve great things, invent things, and run great companies, rule great nations and empires, yet not be fulfilled. For without reconciliation with God and walking in obedience and submission to Him, one cannot be said to have lived life well, and at the end of the day, will end up in the lake of fire and sulphur which is the eternal abode of all the wicked and those without Christ. 9. In matters of life, never lean on your own understanding, and acknowledge God in all that you do and you will be successful. Prov 3:5-6 5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. 10. All are on earth to fulfill purpose. There is no one without a purpose. When purpose is known and pursued to conclusion, success is attained and fulfillment experienced. To live life without a purpose is to live without direction and a drive. Purpose drives a man on and motivates him to action. Purpose makes a man to face challenges and overcome it.

Purpose makes a man to think creatively and come out on top without accepting no for an answer. Know your purpose and pursue it in Christ with God s help. When you pursue purpose with tenacity, commitment, dedication, doggedness, focus, faith and prayer, you are living life. 11. You don t live for money, but you need money to live a good a life. Money is a servant to provide man with the necessities of life, and not to rule man as a god, though it seeks to control and run the life of its possessor. Eccl 10:19 19 A feast is made for laughter, and wine makes life merry, but money is the answer for everything. Matt 6:24 24 "No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money. In life, you just don t do anything for money; you do honest and decent work that will give you money to meet the necessities of life. Just as there is clean and unclean work, so also there is clean and unclean money. Keep away from the unclean, and do clean work to make clean money that will give your heart eternal peace with God. Deut 23:18 18 You must not bring the earnings of a female prostitute or of a male prostitute into the house of the LORD your God to pay any vow, because the LORD your God detests them both. 12. The life you call your own is not your s, but God s. He created you and gave you life by breathing into you the breath of life. This He did to the first man and woman, and gave them the ability to reproduce that life through the process of child birth. At redemption, you were given God s supernatural life as a Christian, therefore, your life is not your own, but God s. Live it to please him. Your whole duty is to please Him all your life. Gen 1:26-28 26 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground." 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. 28 God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground."

2 Cor 5:15 15 And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again. 13. You will give account of what you did with the life God gave you. You will stand before God someday to account for the life He gave you what you did with it, whether you fulfilled purpose or not, or pleased Him with your life here on earth. 2 Cor 5:10 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad. HOW TO LIVE GOD S LIFE 1. Determine to live for God s glory and not yours or another s. 1 Cor 10:31 31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. KJV In all that you do, even in eating or drinking do all to the glory of God. Let your words and manner of speech be to God s glory. Dress and package yourself to God s glory. Go where God will be glorified only. Do only that which will glorify God. In your relationships including your marriage relationship, seek God s glory. Develop and nurse desires that glorify God only. Associate with people that seek God s glory and make sure all you do together is such that will honour and glorify God. You must keep away from all that the word of God condemns as sin and evil. Do only that which God approves and keep away from that which he hates. And if you have the same life and spirit with God, definitely you will love what God loves and hate what He hates. 2. Submit to the leadership of the Holy Spirit who knows the mind and plan of God for your life and the universe and was sent into the world for the purpose of leading God s people. Rom 8:14 14 because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. Let the Holy Spirit lead you in the way of God that your life may be well lived and bring God pleasure and glory. He knows what God wants. He knows the Father s will and plan and He has been sent to guide us in the will and plan of God for our lives. Note that only those who are led by the Spirit are true sons of God. The Holy Spirit cannot lead you to resent, hate, steal, cheat, fornicate, lust, commit adultery, lie or beat up your wife. He will

never lead you to do evil. He will only lead you in the path of righteousness. Surrender to the Holy Spirit and you will live for God s glory. 3. Seek God s will and do it with joy. Eph 5:15-21 15 Be very careful, then, how you live-not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is. 18 Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit. 19 Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, 20 always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. 21 Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. Now that it is clear that we are not to live for ourselves but for God, it is therefore necessary that we seek out God s will and walk in it all the time. It is also important that you as a believer do not go against the revealed will of God. 28 SECRETS OF LIVING LIFE TO THE FULLEST 1. Be the best you can be. 2. Give life your utmost and it will give you back glory and honour. 3. Whatever your hand find to do, do it with all your might. 4. Be joyful always. Joy gives energy to live life to the fullest. 5. Enthusiasm is an energy booster and the oil in the engine of life. 6. Anger, bitterness, hate and resentment are killers of joy, destroyers of happiness, enthusiasm and good health. They stifle life and fill one with gloominess, sadness and depression. They kill without mercy. 7. Recognize your areas of strength and focus on it while you work on improving yourself by the day. 8. Recognize your weaknesses and seriously cry to God for deliverance and make frank efforts to overcome them. 9. Recognize your assignment in life and pursue it with passion and you will fulfill it. 10. Recognize your anointing and submit to it. 11. Never want to be what you were not designed to be. Be yourself, and be the best you can be. Don t be a copy of another, be yourself. 12. Recognize your limitations and know that you need people in your life to take care of your inadequacies. Treasure people that God brings into your life and they will always be there when you need them. Never be nasty to people, but learn how to talk gently and nicely to people. Never look down on anybody, for you can never tell what they will become in future.

People are not always what they seem at the present, they carry potentials that will definitely express themselves in their future as God presents the opportunity. 13. Don t be a taker, be a giver. 14. Don t be a problem to people, be a problem solver for people. 15. Don t be a troublemaker, be a peacemaker. 16. Don t be proud, be humble always. Pride destroys, while humility exalts 17. Love God, love yourself, and love people, no matter who they are, and what your experience in life may be from time to time. 18. Read and meditate on the word of God daily, and practice what you learn from it. 19. Strive to be and remain intimate with the Lord Jesus Christ all your life. 20. Keep Godly friends only, and cut off from bad and ungodly people no matter how long you have known and related with them. He who sins with you will sin against you. Wrong company pulls you away from God and draws you closer to the devil and hell. The reason why your relationship with God is suffering is because, of the input and influence of ungodly people in your life. 21. Be committed in Church and to the fellowship of God s people, and grow strong in your faith. 22. Be an instrument in the hands of God. Witness for Jesus. Use your talent, gifts, money, time and strength to serve the Lord. 23. Never worry about anything, but trust God through prayer to take care of things for you and He will. 24. Make use of every opportunity that God presents to you. Opportunity lost may never come again. Look out for it and seize it without wasting time. 25. Use time and don t waste it. Don t be a time waster for people or for yourself. Manage time well to your own advantage and accomplishment of your life goals. Time waits for no one. Respect peoples time by not keeping them waiting or keeping them from attending to what they ought to, through endless and in some cases, irrelevant talk. Never keep someone waiting by keeping your appointments. Never wait to be told your time is up before you pack it up. Quit when you have to. There is time for everything. Be mindful of this as you live your life. 26. Be a man of integrity. Earn respect through good behaviour. Make yourself trustworthy and useful to people around you. Prove yourself trustworthy with money. 27. Never live above your means, but live within your income. Sow your clothes according to your cloth and not your size.

28. Love hard work and never be lazy for laziness will make you poor while hard work will make you successful and rich.
