PSt. Nectarios C arish ouncil To our beloved St. Nectarios Spiritual Community: The most spiritual time of Lenten season is right around the corner-holy Week is fast approaching!. Many visitors will be joining us through Holy Week, many large crowds, celebrating the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, and we welcome then with open arms! Be sure to reach out and welcome All of our visitors, as Christ would have done. Our Friday and Saturday Holy Week services will be even better as we form a procession outside, weather and health-willing. As we see the world around us and its tragedies, it reminds us how fortunate we are to have our faith and spiritual home. Be sure to share with ALL who join us. TODAY, after services, St. Nectarios and its Greek School will be going to the Annual Greektown Greek Independence Day Parade. We have a bus for transportation arranged, and a float thanks to our Greek School PTO and Parish Council. Come and Join us! There is still room for you! We will be having our annual Holy Thursday Lock In retreat April 28 for our GOYA members. If your child is eligible, this will be a special night to help our youth get closer to their faith. Father Peter will be leading the group on various activities at the church, such as a re-enactment of the Last Supper. Children from past years often have a lasting impression of staying overnight at their church, helping them feel closer to God. Ask us about the new goings on with Greek School! We have plans for our youth who wish to learn more of their heritage. Teaching our children about Hellenism, Greek history and language leads to better students in so many ways, and leads to a better understanding of our faith. Stay tuned for a parent meeting May 17 and 18 during Greek School to review our programs. Registration is open for the 2016-2017 Greek School, and now is the time to sign up. When you came to church today, did you happen to notice the front parking lot and curbs? We are making a special plea this year, through Stewardship, to support your St. Nectarios spiritual home, and donate more so we may fix our parking lot. This is the year to get it done. Waiting longer may result in even more costly repairs. Don't fall into those potholes! Our General Assembly meeting is scheduled for May 15, and again lunch will be served as we get together in fellowship to discuss and care for our St. Nectarios community. The time is now to get Stewardship up and going so we can take better care of our spiritual home! Thank you for reading this, and spread the word to our faithful. We are blessed to have St. Nectarios as our spiritual community lead by Father Peter, and let's continue to put our hands and minds to work and hearts to God, Oli Mazi all together as we spend time with friends and family in our church community. The time is now, Tora to care for and support your spiritual community. With Sincere Appreciation of the Faith We Share, Dr. Jeanne Novas-Busano Parish Council President SAVE THE DATE!
