The Messenger of Allah ہللا علیہ وا لہ وسلم, repliedصلی Islam is to bear witness that there is no god but God and that Muhammad is the Messenger of God; and to perform the prayer; pay zakat; fast Ramadan; and to perform Hajj to the House if you are able. The man said You have spoken the truth - and we were surprised that he asked and then confirmed the answer! Then he asked, Tell me about belief (iman). The Prophet ہللا علیہ وا لہ وسلم, repliedصلی It is to believe in Allah; His Angels; His Books; His Messengers; the Last Day; and in Qadr (destiny) its good and bad. The man said, You have spoken the truth. Now, tell me about Ihsan. The Prophet ہللا علیہ وا لہ وسلم, repliedصلی It is to serve Allah as though you see Him; and if you don't see him, (know that) He surely sees you. Now, tell me about the Last Hour (the Day of Ressurection) asked the man. The Prophet ہللا علیہ وا لہ وسلم repliedصلی The one asked knows no more of it than the one asking. Then tell me about its signs said the man. The Prophet ہللا علیہ وا لہ وسلم, repliedصلی That slave women give birth to their mistresses; and that you see barefoot, unclothed, sheperds (Bedouins) competing in the construction of tall buildings. Then the visitor left, and I waited a long time. Then the Prophet ( ہللا علیہ وا لہ وسلم askedصلی me, Do you know, Umar, who the questioner was? I replied, Allah and His Messenger know best. He (may Allah's peace be upon him) said It was Jibril. He came to you to teach you your religion. [Sahih Muslim] Marks ( /10) PAGE 2

The Five Pillars of Islam What are the 5 pillars. Tell me their names and what they mean. (2 marks per pillar, name and explanation) Answer: The Shahadah: To believe that none has the right to be worshipped except Allah alone. The Salah: 5 Times a day Difference between a muslim and disbeliever Zakat: Give some form the money you earn in charity Fasting: Stay away from food during the month of Ramadhan, from morning until evening Hajj: Travel to Makkah and do the actions in the way of the prophet (may Allah's peace be upon him) Marks ( /10) Ask them now about the Salah in detail. How many Salah in a day? Marks ( /1) Name them? Marks ( /5) How many units in each. Marks ( /5) The Six Pillars of Eemaan What are the 6 pillars. Tell me their names and what they mean. (3 marks per pillar, name (1) and explanation (2)) The pillars of Eeman are: Believe in Allah o Believing in Allah alone is called Tawheed. There are three parts: Tawheed ar-rububiyyah: It is to believe that Allah is The Only Creator, Planner, Sustainer of all that exists. Tawheed al Uluhiyyah: This part of Tawheed is that when someone knows PAGE 3

knows that Allah is the Lord, The Creator that he worships him now alone Tawheed al Asma wa as-sifaat: To believe in the Names and Attributes of Allah, just as it is taught to us in the Qur an and by the Prophet (may Allah's peace be upon him) His Angels o The angels are made of light o One of the angels is Jibreel o Angels are friends of the believers His Books o Some books were revealed previously, such as the tawrah and Zabur. The Qur an is the final book of Allah. His Messengers o Nuh, Adam, Esa were all prophets and messengers o A prophet is someone who receives revelation form Allah. A Messneger get s a new law form Allah. The Last Day o This is the day when we are all judged o Our good and bad deeds are weighed up o Muslims go to Jannah o Non-Muslims go to Jahannam Qadr (destiny) its good and bad. Marks ( /18) Hadeeth They must read all the hadeeth that they have memorised up to a maximum of 6. They should read it in Arabic, then its meaning in English. They may know less, so only give them points for the ones they know and give them zero marks for any less than 6. The marking scheme is as follows: With the Arabic PAGE 4
