We are all excited to finally announce our mission trip for the summer of 2017! AXPN will be doing a five-day mission trip to St. Louis to serve at the Christian Activity Center (CAC). The CAC was founded in 1989 with one goal in mind; to keep kids alive. I was attracted to the CAC when I went on a trip with Greenville College last spring where I met Matt Cowman. Matt Cowman is a Greenville College Alumni and a former member of the First Baptist Church. He is now serving as the Chaplin Coordinator at the CAC. He asked us to come and love his kids: to show them as much love as we can; and here at First Baptist, we are excited to take our best quality to them. In October we will be starting fundraisers for this mission trip so please be on the lookout for that! Not all of our fundraisers will be here at the church. We will also be going out in to the community of Greenville so when that happens we ask that you tell all your friends to come and check us out so that money is not a reason for our students to not be able to serve. Page 10 Page 3 NEW ADDRESS World Mission Offering OCTOBER! Celebrate New Life in Christ on Earth as in Heaven (Matthew 6:10, NABRE) Bourgeois, *Alison 727 E. Main St. Greenville, IL 62246-1918 SIES, *Michelle 323 S. 3 rd St. #4 Greenville, IL 62246-1732 A great and surprising spiritual awakening is happening in Baptist churches in Cuba right now! Since 1990, the number of churches in Cuba has grown by 450%. The number of baptisms has risen by over 500%. And the number of prayer groups and total church memberships have climbed in equally high numbers. After decades of harsh restrictions, the church of God has risen from the ashes, says a retired Cuban church leader who witnessed the remarkable change firsthand. In God s time, the hearts of so many people have been opened up to the goodness of the gospel. The good news is that our church s support of the World Mission Offering (WMO) is helping to fuel the growth of the Eastern Cuba Baptist Convention through financial and global worker support and through International Ministries (IM)-sponsored pastor conferences. The better news is that there is a lot that we can learn from Cuba s spiritual revival. For example: Youth ministry is thriving through camping and sports ministries, concerts and youth rallies in the streets of Cuba s cities and towns. Spirit-filled outreach is yielding abundant fruit through evangelistic campaigns, undergirded with fervent prayer and fasting. Discipleship is spreading through numerous house churches and cell groups of prayer. NEW FRIENDS COLL, Vince 621 S. Give generously and expectantly to the WMO as, together, we help people everywhere come to Christ, grow in their relationships with God and change their worlds through the power of the Holy Spirit.
