November 24, 2013 Our lord Jesus Christ, king of the Universe FROM THE PASTOR S DESK This coming Thursday is Thanksgiving. As a parish community we will offer a Mass of Thanksgiving at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday morning. We will also have the blessing of loaves for families to take to their family celebrations later that day. Thanksgiving, although it is a civic holiday, has also taken on the character of an American Holy Day. What could be more sacramental than family and friends (and oftentimes complete strangers as well) gathering around a table to share a meal. Aside from football, the day is essentially simple. No pressure of shopping for and exchanging gifts just a gathering around the table. A real sharing of life in nourishing food, conversation, laughter and maybe even tears. May your day be blessed! Admissions at St. Peter School are ongoing for the next school year. Applications are being accepted and screenings are being booked for December. If you are interested in applying or finding out more about the school, please contact Mark Smith at admissions@saint-peter-school.org Girls Basketball Grades 7 & 8 Girls in Grades 7 and 8 are invited to play CYO basketball beginning in November. Call Mr. Robert Gray at 617-547-0101 x39 for more information. Halloween Candy Collection Thank You! St. Peter School s 8th Grade thanks everyone who donated to our Halloween Candy Drive! Thanks to your generosity, the Harvard Square Meals Program at Christ Church has two large bins of chocolates to share with their clients as Christmas treats. God Bless You All for sharing some joy! Evening Prayer, Adoration and Benediction will be celebrated on the third Wednesday of each month, from 7:00-8:00 p.m. in the church. The service will begin with the day s Evening Prayer from the Church s Liturgy of the Hours, including a Scripture reading and a brief homily. The Blessed Sacrament will then be exposed for silent Adoration, followed by Benediction. No experience with these forms of prayer is needed: full worship aides will be provided. Deacon Tim O Donnell will lead the service. Please join us for this prayerful time to be with the Lord. Change of Address for Fr. Dan Harrington Campion Renewal Center, 319 Concord Road, Weston, MA 02493-1398 3

New Ministry: Greeters We are launching a new ministry of greeters at St. Peter s. At the start of this endeavor we will focus on Christmas, Holy Week and Easter. The commitment is minimal. This ministry is a wonderful way to act out our welcome statement. It is perfect for individuals or families to do together. This would entail greeting parishioners and visitors at the doors prior to liturgy and handing out the worship aid. Interested? Give it a try!
