Job Description: Youth & Young Adults Pastor Position Details Reporting to: Senior Minister Initial Term of Appointment: January 1 to December 31, 2017 at 0.6 FTE (3 days per week). Payment Terms: The successful candidate will be remunerated in accordance with ASLM (Authorised Stipendiary Lay Minister) standards in the Melbourne Diocese of the Anglican Church for either a trainee lay minister or lay minister depending on experience. On top of the stipend, expenses associated with the job will be covered by the church including travel and monthly mobile phone payments. At the discretion of the leadership a 5% bonus stipend may be included in the package. Payment will occur in advance at the start of each month, with an expected annual salary between $25,354 - $32,707. The successful candidate will join the staff leadership team and work together with the church at Deep Creek to achieve our mission of making disciples of Jesus and growing the Kingdom of God. It is our desire to see the person in this role flourish in their gifting and develop in leadership as they serve at Deep Creek. Should one candidate not fulfil what we are seeking we may be open to splitting the Youth and Young Adult positions into two roles. Scope of Role Youth Pastor (2 days) BUILDING A COMMUNITY WHO LIVE AND LOVE LIKE JESUS In consultation with leadership: to prayerfully seek the direction of the Holy Spirit for the youth of our church and lead the way. Work with the team to develop and deliver an engaging program for youth on Friday nights throughout the school term. Coordinate a Sunday morning Bible Study for youth as well as a mid-week growth group as appropriate. Provide the up front leadership of youth and youth related events. Shape, support, train and enable volunteers working with young people as well as continuing to grow the team of youth leaders / helpers. Encourage, pastorally care for and disciple the team of volunteers and helpers. Integrate the youth group into the general life of the church: encouraging youth to find their place in the life of the church & encouraging the church to support the youth. Engage the church to support and pray for the work of youth ministry. Communicate regularly with youth, parents, staff, church, volunteers and others. Work together with the children s pastor to help primary school kids transition to youth. Operate a program under the Duty of Care guidelines for Youth and Children s Ministry within the Anglican Diocese of Melbourne and associated church policies. Network, build and develop relationships with youth leaders and other groups. Work in partnership with Doncaster Church of Christ to develop and deliver a breakfast programme at East Doncaster Secondary College. Network with local secondary schools and the local community and seek to engage the youth of the church in reaching out. Work at developing support for youth transitioning to young adults. Young Adult Pastor (1 day) General Develop a vision and strategy along with a team of people to disciple, grow community and seek to reach out among young adults. Work with the team to develop and deliver a regular program engaging young adults throughout the year. Help young adults identify their gifts/passions and encourage them in service. Identify, disciple and encourage potential leaders. Coordinate and/or exercise pastoral care for the young adult s community. Coordinate young adult growth groups and provide spiritual oversight of the growth group leaders. Help run special/occasional services such as Baptism and Christmas services. Occasional preaching as agreed with the Senior Minister. 6pm Service Work with the 6pm service leaders to create an engaging time of worship. Responsibility for the smooth running of the 6pm service. Leadership of the Sunday 6pm service once per month.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience Holds a qualification or is completing a qualification in either Youth Ministry or Theology. Proven experience in Christian youth ministry including leading youth groups and teams of volunteers. Experience in developing youth programs. A self-starter with energy, passion and motivation who is able to bring fresh perspective and a willingness to try new things (and even fail at them). The ability to communicate clearly. Experience in leading groups of various sizes to inspire, coach, train, support and encourage. Experience in teaching the Bible creatively in a way that is relevant to young people and a. Organisational and administrative skills to make decisions, manage time and organise priorities. Experience in leading services, preaching and associated skills are useful. Computer literacy including skills with social media and MS Office.

I commit to deepening my relationship with Jesus Christ through regular prayer, the reading of the Scriptures and committed fellowship with others. I am accountable to God and a member of His church. I will prioritise attendance and participation at the monthly Prayer Get-Togethers and other corporate prayer gatherings (Eph 6:18). 3.
