The Messenger From the Pastor July 2016 Hello, Church family! The command given to us by Jesus to go into all nations with the gospel is just as much a priority now as it was when it was first proclaimed. We should be working hard to be Christ s witnesses in our Jerusalem, our Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. Our mission starts at home. I want to remind you that we have weekly visitation when our church goes out into the community and attempts to share the gospel message and invite people to come to church. I know that many are afraid of taking this step, but I promise that we will train you to do it. You will not be alone. In fact, all we ask when you first come is to go with us, watch what is Pastor Rev. Jeff Waters done, and learn. Then, when you are ready, we will let you start taking the lead. This is what it takes to grow as a witness for Jesus Christ. I have said in the morning service several times that I am willing to train anyone to share Christ with others. Some of you may not be able to come on Monday evenings at 6:30 when we have visitation. That is okay. If you still want to be trained, then talk to me and I will help you learn! We spend the majority of our effort to share Christ s salvation in Pulaski County and, rightfully so, since this is where we live and spend the majority of our time. Yet, we cannot neglect Christ s command to go into all the world. We have a mission team that will go to Laos to share Christ with people groups who have never heard the good news of Jesus. This is our first step to getting to the Saek people we have adopted as a church. There are five men on the team. Gary Davis, Larry Garrett, Hal Partin, Joshua Waters, and I have volunteered to go on this trip, but we cannot do it alone. The cost of the trip is small compared to many overseas mission trips because we will be staying in the huts of the villagers we hope to minister to. This will not be a pleasure trip. We need your financial help to be able to get there. You can give to the church and put Laos Mission Trip on the memo line if you want your money to go for this mission. Not all can go, but if you cannot, then you need to be a part of helping those who can go. Some of you could pay for one to go on the trip by yourself. Others of you could only give a small amount. God just wants you to give what He lays on your heart. I hope you will consider giving and praying for this team as we prepare for the trip. God has placed us in Pulaski County and put the Saek people on our hearts for a reason. He wants us to reach them with the gospel! We cannot save them, but we can get the message to them. There will be a day when all nations will worship the one true God. Revelation 15:4 says, All nations will come and worship before you, for your righteous acts have been revealed. What a day that will be! Let us take the gospel to our community and to the nations so all will be accounted for on that day! Pastor Jeff Waters

Page 2 T he Messe n ge r July 2016 A Note from the Minister of Music Rev. Eric Woods, Associate Pastor One of my favorite songs that we sing around here is Never Once by Matt Redman. Written in 2009, this worship song reminds us of God s faithfulness, through the good times and the bad. I really like the lyrics of the bridge (a fancy musical term that means that this section is different from the rest), which are as follows: Scars and struggles on the way, but with joy our hearts can say: never once did we ever walk alone. Carried by Your constant grace, held within Your perfect peace, never once, no, we never walk alone. In this life, we will have hard times, but God s constant grace and perfect peace is always with us. What a wonderful truth! Have you ever thought about joining us in the choir, Rev. Kelly Hitchcock Associate Pastor Of Youth & Children Kelly s Korner We are in the full swing of summer! And boy is it HOT! I hope you all are enjoying your summer thus far and are able to keep cool If you are traveling this month, please be safe and but didn t know when a good time to do so was? The answer is now. Our choir is open for those youth group age and up through adults. We meet on Sundays at 4:15 pm each week in the choir room. If you are thinking about it but not sure, come give us a try. If it doesn t work out for you, that is no problem. It is such an honor to be able to use the gifts that God gives us to lead in worship as a choir. We also have a great time in practice each week (some of our members call it their weekly therapy). Come check us out. Blessings, Eric Woods Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and exhorting one another with all wisdom, singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, all with grace in your hearts to God. enjoy yourselves! It s time again to begin thinking about our upcoming Awana year! We are around 5 weeks away from our kickoff night, August 10th! When we ended the 2015-2016 school year we were averaging around 50 kids each night! That s fantastic news as that means that 50 kids are hearing the gospel every single week and being challenged to memorize God s Word every single week. But a ministry that big does not run itself! It takes a large team of adults to keep our Awana ministry functioning properly! We want YOU to be a part of that team! There are several places throughout our Awana ministry that we would love to have you serve. Each of these roles are vital to the operation of our ministry. I would ask that EVERYONE in our church prayerfully consider being a part of this year s Awana ministry! When this newsletter goes out our teenagers will be in Cleveland, TN sharing the gospel with kids and adults at a local apartment complex! Please continue to pray that we will be BOLD in our efforts to share the gospel with everyone that we come in contact with. Please also pray that the things God worked in us this past week will continue to grow and shape us in the weeks and months to come! We ve got several activities coming up this month, so make sure to check out the newsletters to stay up to date on everything! Everyone enjoy the last month of your summer! Serving Him, Kelly Hitchcock
