8th May 2012. Surah al Baqarah verse 160 Sister Eman al Obaid www.alhudasisters.wordpress.com Review of ayat s 1-29 The Qur an Guidance for the Al-Muttaqun (the pious) Al Mu minun Salah one pillar of Islam, belief in the Hereafter Al Kafirun Hypocrites Call to mankind The creation, the revelation, hellfire Paradise Al-Fasiqun (the rebellious) Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu alayhi wa sallam asked Allah for nothing except increase in knowledge This is the 3 rd lesson on this one ayah as it has many meanings. There is a relation between this ayah and the previous ayah. 2:159 Indeed, those who conceal what We sent down of clear proofs and guidance after We made it clear for the people in the Scripture - those are cursed by Allah and cursed by those who curse, Ayah 2:159 is about those concealing the truth but out of Allah subhana wa ta ala s mercy, except for certain people, Allah subhana wa ta ala brings people back to His mercy.

To be under Allah subhana wa ta ala s mercy you need 3 things: 1. Tawbah 2. Ikhlas sincerity in good deeds 3. Bayyinu clarify what they conceal to people clearly Bayyinu Bayyinu is difficult because you have to show people your mistakes. The mistakes between you and people are harder than the mistakes between you and Allah subhana wa ta ala. Allah subhana wa ta ala accepts the repentance. When you do wrong to people, to correct the mistake you have to face them, you are embarrassed in front of them thinking, how can I say it? How can I do it? This is the bayyinu. The bayyinu is difficult and I have to show people I am wrong. We need to ask Allah subhana wa ta ala for His guidance and not to fall into mistakes between people. One of the Ulema gave a parable of a woman. He said a woman is like a glass very fragile and you have to hold her with care and tenderness. If you drop her there will be a break, if you try to fix her there will always be pain on that cut. You don t want to be put into a situation where it is difficult to say sorry Ya Rabbi, don t make us fall into the fitnah, guide us not to cause hurt to others and to cause hurt between people. May Allah subhana wa ta ala give us nur and guidance so that we will be guided in life. Think before you say something and ask Allah subhana wa ta ala for guidance. A comfort for you on the Day of Judgement will be that no one will call you to account. Otherwise if everyone did call us to account we will all be in Hellfire the only judge is Allah subhana wa ta ala. For us this is a relief. Those who repent Allah subhana wa ta ala will honour them with the angels. Allah will accept the Taba (repentance) at tabu the people who will return back to Allah subhana wa ta ala Taba is for human beings and taba is from Allah subhana wa ta ala. Allah subhana wa ta ala uses one word for us and for Himself but there is a big difference between human beings taba and Allah subhana wa ta ala s Taba. Human beings - for those who repent Allah - I will accept their repentance, taba is in the present tense. To accept the repentance of those people they need tawbah, Ikhlas and bayyinu and Allah subhana wa ta ala will give them Atubi. This is half of the meaning of Atubi Allah will initiate the Taba (repentance) When human beings make mistakes or sin Allah subhana wa ta ala guides them to repent. But before the person will even say Astaghfirullah Allah subhana wa ta ala will put it into their heart. Before your tawbah Allah subhana wa ta ala will make tawbah on you. Allah subhana wa ta ala will make it easy and initiate the feeling of regret and repentance. Allah subhana wa ta ala is bringing you all the means when you know that I am doing wrong. The tawbah of human beings is in the middle. There are two tawbah s from Allah subhana wa ta ala, and one tawbah from you. Bring us close to Allah subhana wa ta ala Why? Allah subhana wa ta ala wants everyone to be close to Him, Allah subhana wa ta ala is the One who initiates your tawbah and Allah subhana wa ta ala is the One having the tawbah

for people who are making mistakes. Allah subhana wa ta ala initiates the means for repentance and the feeling of regret. Allah subhana wa ta ala will give the tawbah for everyone in their hearts. But not everyone is repenting. Allah subhana wa ta ala initiates the tawbah to every sinner. The greater the sin the greater the tawbah. Allah subhana wa ta ala loves His creation. The problem, why is not everyone repenting? If in your heart you want the good, generally you only want the good and are wishing for the good Allah subhana wa ta ala will increase you in repentance. Allah At Tawbah. If we write down all our sins we will have pages and pages of sins. People are insulting Allah subhana wa ta ala by associating a partner with Allah subhana wa ta ala. But Allah subhana wa ta ala still gives them the repentance if they have a will and want to change. If they have a will to change Allah subhana wa ta ala will bring the means of repentance. For example a non Muslim does not believe in Allah subhana wa ta ala will Allah subhana wa ta ala leave him? No. Allah subhana wa ta ala will initiate the repentance. Allah subhana wa ta ala will make them look at things so that their heart will change, Allah subhana wa ta ala is initiating the tawbah. Anything can happen to initiate that feeling, the feeling that this is wrong and I want the truth. You just have to have the will of good. When one has a will for good in his heart even a little dot Allah subhana wa ta ala will deal with you in bounties. Allah subhana wa ta ala will make the situation around you such that you will repent. For example you will meet someone or read a particular book. Allah subhana wa ta ala will push you towards the tawbah. When this happens you will repent The best example is the magicians of Fir aun. Everybody wanted to be close to Fir aun so the magicians wanted to defeat Musa alaihi as-salaam with magic. Allah subhana wa ta ala initiated tawbah in the hearts of the magicians. When Musa alaihi as-salaam throws his stick and Allah subhana wa ta ala turns into a snake, his snake swallows their snakes. They are watching and at that moment they felt a little fear in their hearts that Musa alaihi as-salaam is having the truth and we do not. Allah subhana wa ta ala made it easy for them to repent. Fir aun cut their hands and feet and crucified them on date palm tree. Anyone inclined to Allah subhana wa ta ala they will sacrifice their life for Allah subhana wa ta ala. Allah subhana wa ta ala came to the magicians of Fir aun and kept them firm on that truth. Read surah At Taha to see how they faced Fir aun. They did as believers do and Allah subhana wa ta ala replaces their sins with good deeds, everything is around the heart There are two tawbah s from Allah subhana wa ta ala so for us it is not a big achievement when we repent, do not feel proud of yourself. The tawbah is not from us, it is from Allah subhana wa ta ala. When you have a good intention, a will to do good, Allah subhana wa ta ala will make it easy to repent and you will be strong. Children face a lot when young and at school, but they have this strength and Allah subhana wa ta ala makes them strong. Those who will repent Allah subhana wa ta ala makes the means easy to repent. You will repent if you have a will to be good, Bayyinu is the difficult part so to be strong you say Ya rabbi You help me. Allah will guide you to be strong. Today none of us will have to go through what the magicians went through. Tawbah precedes our repentance, Allah subhana wa ta ala makes easy the means of tawbah. When you are doing the means other tawbah will come from Allah subhana wa ta ala. Allah subhana wa ta ala will accept the tawbah. When you commit a sin why do you commit sin when you have tawbah??????? when you have a will to sin Allah subhana wa ta ala will stop you. But if you are insisting in committing sin Allah subhana wa ta ala will let you. If you have tawbah Allah subhana wa ta ala will reward you.

Our tawbah is surrounded by two tawbah s, one tawbah before our tawbah and one tawbah after our tawbah. The greater the sin the more Allah subhana wa ta ala will accept your tawbah. Al Farah Abu Hamza Anas ibn Malik al-ansari narrated that the Prophet said: "Allah has greater joy at the repentance of one His slaves when he turns towards Him than one of you would have over his mount, which, having escaped from him with his food and drink in the middle of the desert so that he has despaired of finding it and gone to a tree to lie down in its shade, suddenly appears standing by him while he is in that state, so that he takes its reins and then says out of the intensity of his joy, 'O Allah, You are my slave and I am Your Lord!' getting confused because of his intense joy.'" [al-bukhaari: 6308 ; Muslim: 2744] For Allah subhana wa ta ala, Farah, the happiness which appears and is not hidden is one of the Attributes of Allah subhana wa ta ala. Allah subhana wa ta ala is feeling happy, Al Farah. When will Allah subhana wa ta ala be farah? when somebody repents Allah subhana wa ta ala is more happier than anything else. The Farah is an Attribute of Allah subhana wa ta ala when someone commits a sin and repents. Imagine how is our relationship with Allah subhana wa ta ala. Allah s Farah is perfect. Our farah is not perfect. In the parable in the above hadith the man says 'O Allah, You are my slave and I am Your Lord!' he made a mistake in his du a because of his happiness. You make a mistake and repent to Allah subhana wa ta ala, Allah subhana wa ta ala will be more happier than this person. The Farah of Allah subhana wa ta ala is more than you farah. Allah subhana wa ta ala loves the tawbah of his servants. Allah subhana wa ta ala loves for all of His creation to be in paradise, Allah subhana wa ta ala is generous, Allah subhana wa ta ala loves forgiveness, Allah subhana wa ta ala loves pardoning, Allah subhana wa ta ala loves mercy more than punishment and revenge. Allah subhana wa ta ala loves more for people to be in Paradise rather than Hell. Story: A mother and child were fighting. The boy saw the door open and ran to the door and the mother pushed the boy out. The boy was left outside crying, he had no shelter, no food and no where to go. So he decided to stand at the door of his home. When the mother opened the door and saw her son standing there and she hastened to take him in, she hugged him and kissed him. She said Oh my son what are you doing, did I not say to you do not disobey me, obey me and do not go against my nature, this is my nature but it is your disobedience that made me go against my nature This is a mother with her child so imagine the human being with Allah subhana wa ta ala. When you sin you are out of Allah subhana wa ta ala s Rahma. When you sin everything goes wrong in your life to make you turn back. Allah subhana wa ta ala loves to forgive, Allah subhana wa ta ala loves to pardon more than punishment and putting people in Hellfire but still people will go to hell they are bad to themselves. From Abu Musa 'Abdullah ibn Qays al-ash'ari is that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Allah Almighty will stretch out His hand during the night, turning towards the one who did wrong during the day, and stretch out His hand during the day, turning towards the one who did wrong during the night, until the day the sun rises from the place it set." [Muslim] Allah subhana wa ta ala is the most rich Who rose over the Throne. Allah subhana wa ta ala does not need our repentance, we are fakir, poor to Allah subhana wa ta ala so we must seek repentance and seek to do good deeds.

Where are the people standing at Allah subhana wa ta ala s door? When you know this, this will give you help. You are not going to do major mistakes when Allah subhana wa ta ala puts Rahma in your heart. You need to appreciate the Rahma. Allah subhana wa ta ala puts repentance in your heart if you are having truthfulness in your heart. Allah subhana wa ta ala will guide you to change yourself. We cannot help ourselves on our own, Allah subhana wa ta ala guides us. Do not rely on Allah subhana wa ta ala s repentance without taking the means. Don t be deceived, don t think I know I am doing wrong but I don t want to change. Allah is bringing you the repentance but you need to appreciate it. If you not appreciating it, giving excuses to yourself, slowly the light of tawbah will go from your heart. Some people have so many sins and they are so proud that they say you are doing wrong you have to do both, (repent truthfully and want to change) you need to know how Allah subhana wa ta ala is dealing with you. There are two tawbah s from Allah subhana wa ta ala. At-Tawwab - the One who accepts repentance l-tawabu - Tawabiah tawbah is a name of Allah subhana wa ta ala, an action of Allah subhana wa ta ala, an Attribute of Allah subhana wa ta ala s name is Tawwab There are thousands and millions of people making mistakes. If all are repenting, Allah subhana wa ta ala is accepting their tawbah, how many sins they are committing? Major and minor sins Allah subhana wa ta ala is accepting their tawbah. Even the tawbah of the jinn, all types of sin, Allah subhana wa ta ala will accept the repentance. You will only pardon if a mistake is done to you. For all your sins you only need to go to Allah subhana wa ta ala, for all you sins related to Allah subhana wa ta ala and related to the people. With people you need to go the person individually. Different types of people have different types of sin and Allah subhana wa ta ala will accept the repentance. Allah subhana wa ta ala is the first one to accept the repentance. All the blessings we are enjoying and even the repentance is a blessing from Allah subhana wa ta ala and Allah subhana wa ta ala initiated the bounties and the blessings. At Tawwab, Allah subhana wa ta ala will again and again accept your repentance. When you have to make tawbah to human beings you return to them. Again and again you will return to Allah subhana wa ta ala when you repent to Allah subhana wa ta ala. Allah subhana wa ta ala will come closer to you because you are so special to Allah subhana wa ta ala. Allah subhana wa ta ala wants from us only to worship him without associating a partner to Him because all the bounties are from Him. The only thing you need to do, the minimum ibadah is N اO اS T U Lâ ilâha illâ Allâh Ar Rahim the Most Mericful l-rahimu - the Most Merciful. After At Tawwab you have name Rahim. Tawwab by itself is enough. Why?

Allah subhana wa ta ala initiates the tawbah, Allah subhana wa ta ala make the tawbah easy, Allah subhana wa ta ala gave you the means because of Allah subhana wa ta ala s Rahma. We need Allah subhana wa ta ala s Rahma. It is enough to know Allah subhana wa ta ala is merciful to you more than anyone else. If any person is merciful to you, AlhamduliLlah, Allah subhana wa ta ala is bringing this to you, this is from Allah subhana wa ta ala. Allah subhana wa ta ala is Rahim how a mother has mercy, how a father has mercy. Even wild animals have rahma rahma is not from you, this is from Allah subhana wa ta ala. From the beginning and to the end rahma is from Allah subhana wa ta ala. Out of Allah subhana wa ta ala s mercy, this is how Allah subhana wa ta ala is Merciful. Allah subhana wa ta ala s mercy precedes Allah subhana wa ta ala s anger and the rahma is more. But people are seeking people s rahma more than Allah subhana wa ta ala s rahma. This is the relation between you and Allah subhana wa ta ala. When you go to other places you find nice people, the non believers are happy and laughing. This is rahma from Allah subhana wa ta ala even though the disbeliever is not worthy of a drop of water but the water, the sun, the moon etc are for everyone. But the believer is having a special rahma when Allah subhana wa ta ala initiates the repentance in the heart, Allah subhana wa ta ala is so merciful to you. When someone repents this is a special mercy from Allah subhana wa ta ala so encourage them to repent, do not be an obstacle to their tawbah. When Allah subhana wa ta ala initiates tawbah and you will repent this is a mercy from Allah subhana wa ta ala.????? 2 hours seeking rahma from allah. Bis mil-lahir-raḥmanir-raḥeem includes all the Names of Allah everything is from Allah subhana wa ta ala. When you are alive Allah subhana wa ta ala will give you rahma because you want rahma. When you have a calamity this is a hidden rahma. Everyting is rahma. Allah subhana wa ta ala will give you His greatest rahma eternal life in paradise, the pleasure of Allah, seeing the Face of Allah. We need Allah subhana wa ta ala. Summary Allah subhana wa ta ala sent the truth and someone is hiding it still Allah subhana wa ta ala stretches out his hand to them. Allah subhana wa ta ala will accept your repentance and two names are mentioned together At Tawwab, Ar Rahim, the Acceptor of Repentance and Allah subhana wa ta ala will be Merciful to you. When you recite in Surah al Fatihah - Al-Hamdu lillahi Rabbil Alameen, Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds, say it firmly. May Allah subhana wa ta ala accept from all of us. Ameen. We ask Allah subhana wa ta ala for His forgiveness and His Mercy. Anything that is good from these notes is from Allah subhana wa ta ala. Any mistakes & misrepresentations are my own. I ask Allah subhana wa ta ala for His forgiveness and to put forgiveness in the hearts of those who read them. JazakAllah Khairan.
