Good Morning and Welcome! Prayer before worship: O Lord God Almighty, who laid the foundations of the earth, empower us with a faith that clings to You in every situation; even when our life is crumbling all around us, call us to trust in you. Because we are your disciples, called by you, help us to confess your name before all people. Bless our worship this day and always, through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord. This Week s Prayer List - remember these in prayer: We pray for a portion of Zion s family and friends Tom and Sarah Perry; Craig and Kristi Pexa; Rachel Pexa; Brett Pexa; Mike and Roxanne Pieper; Rod, Jenise, and Michael Polingo; and Philip Radde. We pray for those under the care of a physician, undergoing treatment and therapy; for all difficulties and the ability to meet obligations and a strong faith for every need. We wish to thank you, our Zion family, for your prayers and support upon the passing of our dear wife and mother. Your prayers, kind words, cards, generous memorials, and food donations are greatly appreciated. Special thanks to the ladies for serving the funeral lunch. We are blessed and our hearts are warmed by you thoughtfulness and generosity. Also, thank you to those who visited and send cards during her time at Auburn. She greatly appreciated it as do we. -The Family of Ruth Krueger Women s Bible Study will be starting on September 6th at 1 2 PM in the meeting room, led by Cindy Henschen. Opening Hymn #686 "Come, Thou Font of Every Blessing" Medley of Peace Psalm 62 & LSB 656 P In the name of the Father Son Holy Spirit. C Amen. P Truly my soul finds rest in God; C My salvation comes from him. P Truly he is my rock and my salvation; C He is my fortress, I will never be shaken. A mighty Fortress is our God, A trusty Shield and Weapon; He helps us free from every need That hath us now o'ertaken. The old evil Foe Now means deadly woe; Deep guile and great might Are his dread arms in fight; On Earth is not his equal. P Yes, my soul, find rest in God; C My hope comes from him. P Truly he is my rock and my salvation; C He is my fortress, I will not be shaken. P My salvation and my honor depend on God; C He is my mighty rock, my refuge. P Trust in him at all times, you people; C Pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge. With might of ours can naught be done, Soon were our loss effected; But for us fights the Valiant One, Whom God Himself elected. Ask ye, Who is this? Jesus Christ it is. Of Sabaoth Lord, And there's none other God; He holds the field forever. P Surely the lowborn are but a breath, the highborn are but a lie. C If weighed on a balance, they are nothing; together they are only a breath. P Do not trust in extortion or put vain hope in stolen goods; C Though your riches increase, do not set your heart on them. Though devils all the world should fill, All eager to devour us. We tremble not, we fear no ill, They shall not overpower us. This world's prince may still Scowl fierce as he will,
He can harm us none, He's judged; the deed is done; One little word can fell him. P One thing God has spoken, two things I have heard: C Power belongs to you, God, P With you, Lord, is unfailing love ; C You reward everyone according to what they have done. The Word they still shall let remain Nor any thanks have for it; He's by our side upon the plain With His good gifts and Spirit. And take they our life, Goods, fame, child and wife, Let these all be gone, They yet have nothing won; The Kingdom our remaineth. Old Testament Reading Isaiah 56:1, 6-8 P This is the Word of the Lord. C Thanks be to God. Epistle Reading Romans 11:1-2a, 13-15, 28 32 P This is the Word of the Lord. C Thanks be to God. P The Holy Gospel according to St. Matthew, the chapter fifteen. C Glory to You, O Lord. Gospel Reading Matthew 15:21 28 P This is the Gospel of the Lord. C Praise to You, O Christ. The Apostles' Creed Children's Message Sermon Hymn #690 (Tune: Perfect Love) "Hope of the World" Sermon A Place at the Table Matthew 15:21-28 Jesus doesn't prepare us for failure but provides 1. Hope, even to those who seem to be A. 2. Hope, even to those who are T. 3. Hope, because God's crumbs are a F. Offering
Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me; Cast me not away from thy presence and take not thy Holy Spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation, and uphold me with thy free Spirit. Amen. Prayers and the Lord's Prayer Psalm 67 P May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face to shine upon us, C That your way may be known on earth, your saving power among all nations. P Let the peoples praise you, O God; C Let all the peoples praise you! P Let the nations be glad and sing for joy, C For you judge the peoples with equity and guide the nations upon earth. P Let the peoples praise you, O God; C Let all the peoples praise you! P The earth has yielded its increase; C God, our God, shall bless us. P God shall bless us; C Let all the ends of the earth fear him! Closing Collect Almighty and everlasting Father, You give Your children many blessings even though we are undeserving. In every trial and temptation grant us steadfast confidence in Your loving-kindness and mercy; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. P The Lord bless you... and give you peace. C Amen. Closing Hymn #691 "Fruitful Trees, the Spirit's Sowing
