Committed to His Will, His Way, and His Word September 7, 2014 Our Vision Statement "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because He has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery o f sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor." Luke 4:18-19 (NKJ) It is the vision of Mt. Olive to be a church that is intentional in its efforts to identify and meet the needs of broken, hurt and oppressed people in the greater Glen Allen area through the message and ministry of Jesus Christ. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. To Him be the glory both now and forever. From the Pastor's Desk : During this year of increase we are thanking God for spiritual growth in our lives. Spiritual growth is more of Christ being expressed through less of you. As you seek to grow remember the words of the Apostle Paul, "I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 3:14). Keep pressing and thanking God for the increase in your life! KINGDOMTIDE MOBC FAITH DEVELOPMENT!! * MONDAY: A Better Covenant Hebrews 8:1-7, 13 * TUESDAY: Mediator of a New Covenant Hebrews 9:11-15 * WEDNESDAY: Minister of a New Covenant 2 Corinthians 3:4-11 * THURSDAY: I Will Gather Them Jeremiah 31:7-11 * FRIDAY: Hope for Your Future Jeremiah 31:12-17 * SATURDAY: Set Up Road Markers Jeremiah 31:18-25 * SUNDAY: I Will Make A New Covenant Jeremiah 31:31-37 Points: 1) Makes a difference. 2) Is dependable. 3) Is available. August 31 November 29, 2014 (The Pulpit attire is Green) We are in the season of KINGDOMTIDE, the color of KINGDOMTIDE is GREEN. The color GREEN symbolizes growth. KINGDOMTIDE runs from August 31 until Advent. KINGDOMTIDE is the newest of the seasons, dating no farther back than the late 1930 s. KINGDOMTIDE gives place for due attention to the eternal presence of Christ and His Kingship with the parallel emphasis upon our stewardship. Its emphasis on the kingship of Christ and His kingdom, challenges us in our daily lives and in every area of our existence. Theme For This Quarter: SUSTAINING HOPE The study of this quarter is an examination of prophetic literature, as well as material from the wisdom book of Job, on the subject of hope. It highlights the prophecies concerning restoration and return of the people of Israel from exile and the declarations of Job as examples of sustaining hope through communal and individual hardship and sufferings. NEXT WEEK S LESSON: September 14, 2014 RESTORATION Jeremiah 31:31-37 Frequently agreements and relationships must be revised and renewed. Jeremiah assured the people that God will make a new covenant with His people that will nurture and equip them for the present and future. Sermon Highlights: August 31, 2014 Title: With God s Love Text: Romans 8:35-39 Main Idea: As we celebrate Family and Friends, we cannot leave out God s love. God s love: For the full message order a CD or DVD of the service from the Media Ministry. CDs $5.00; Double CDs $7.00 ; VHS $15.00; DVDs $12.00 HOW TO ACCEPT JESUS CHRIST INTO YOUR HEART Perhaps while reading the announcements you realized you have never made a Christian commitment. Don t delay that decision! We encourage you to embrace God s love today and receive the salvation that only Jesus Christ gives. Here are five simple steps you can take to find assurance of salvation. 1. Recognize your need. The Bible tell us that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Rom. 3:23) All of us are sinners, and we must admit our need for a Savior. 2. Repent of your sins. Our sins create a wall that separates us from God. By confessing our sins and turning from them, you will find forgiveness. The Bible promises: If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). 3. Believe in Jesus. God sent His only Son to die so that He could pay for all our sins. Put your faith in Him and believe in His power to save you. The Bible says, For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life (John 3:16). 4. Receive His salvation. God has given us a great gift in His Son, but we must receive His gift. Thank Him for loving and forgiving you, and ask Him to live in your heart. His promise to us is clear: But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God (John 1:12). 5. Confess your faith. The Bible assures us: If you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved (Rom. 10:9). You have been born again and are now part of God s family. Tell some one else what Jesus has done in your life! 2

3 MOBC COMMUNITY NEWS!! September is Get Ready for And Christian Education Month September 14 September 17, 2014 Sunday, September 14, 2014 @ 10:00 AM Pastor Darryl G. Thompson Monday - Wednesday, September 15-17, 2014 In celebrating Christian Education Month, Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Sunday School would like to welcome you back to Sunday School. Sunday School is a place of enlightenment where the people of God teach and learn the Word so that they may grow and be rooted in their faith. Unlike the corporate worship experience, it is an environment where questions can be asked and concepts can be immediately explained. Therefore, we encourage you to participate in Sunday School. It will promote kingdom knowledge and glorification. The fun, joy, and blessings of gaining and sharing acquired knowledge will be the fruit of your efforts. 7:00 PM Nightly 6:45 PM Prayer & Praise Rev. Jeffrey L.
