The Hymn in rocession Lift High the ross LSB 837 REFRAIN Lift high the cross, the love of hrist proclaim till all the world adore His sacred Name. 1 2 4 6 ome, hristians, follow where our aptain trod, our King victorious, hrist, the Son of God. REFRAIN Led on their way by this triumphant sign, the hosts of God in conqu ring ranks combine. REFRAIN O Lord, once lifted on the glorious tree, as Thou hast promised, draw us all to Thee. REFRAIN So shall our song of triumph ever be: raise to the rucified for victory! REFRAIN INVOATION AND OENING VERSILES In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days He has spoken to us by His Son. God said, This is My beloved Son; listen to Him. Open our ears, Lord, that we may hear; open our hearts that we may listen and obey. Our help is in the name of the LORD. who made heaven and earth.

ONFESSION and ABSOLUTION Sisters and brothers in hrist, God has gathered us together as His children, and has spoken to us through His Son. Even though we have often heard with our ears, we have not listened with our hearts. We have not honored and obeyed Him with our words and actions. We have not glorified Him with our lives. Let us confess our sins before Him, and ask for His forgiveness. Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your steadfast love; according to Your abundant mercy blot out my sins. Wash me from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin! For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me. Against You, You only, have I sinned and done what is evil in Your sight, so that You may be justified in Your words and blameless in Your judgment. God has heard our prayer and set us free from sin and death. He sent His only Son to be born as a human, to die in our place, and to rise again to new life for our forgiveness and salvation. As a called and ordained servant of the Word, and at the command and promise of our Lord Jesus hrist, I forgive you all your sins in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Hymn of raise This Is the Feast! (Music: LSB 155) REFRAIN This is the feast of victory for our God., alleluia, alleluia. Worthy is hrist, the Lamb who was slain, whose blood set us free to be people of God. REFRAIN ower, riches, wisdom, and strength, and honor, blessing, and glory are his. REFRAIN Sing with all the people of God, and join in the hymn of all creation: Blessing, honor, glory, and might be to God and the Lamb forever. REFRAIN For the Lamb who was slain has begun his reign.. REFRAIN rayer of the Day The Lord be with you. And also with you. Let us pray. O God, in the glorious transfiguration of Your beloved Son, You confirmed the mysteries of the faith by the testimony of Moses and Elijah. In the voice that came from the bright cloud You wonderfully foreshowed our adoption by grace. Mercifully make us co-heirs with the King in His glory and bring us to the fullness of our inheritance in heaven; through the same Jesus hrist, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

SERVIE OF THE WORD Old Testament: Deuteronomy 34:1-12 Then Moses climbed Mount Nebo from the plains of Moab to the top of isgah, across from Jericho. There the LORD showed him the whole land from Gilead to Dan, all of Naphtali, the territory of Ephraim and Manasseh, all the land of Judah as far as the western sea,a the Negev and the whole region from the Valley of Jericho, the ity of alms, as far as Zoar. Then the LORD said to him, "This is the land I promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob when I said, `I will give it to your descendants.' I have let you see it with your eyes, but you will not cross over into it." And Moses the servant of the LORD died there in Moab, as the LORD had said. He buried him in Moab, in the valley opposite Beth eor, but to this day no one knows where his grave is. Moses was a hundred and twenty years old when he died, yet his eyes were not weak nor his strength gone. The Israelites grieved for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days, until the time of weeping and mourning was over. Now Joshua son of Nun was filled with the spirit of wisdom because Moses had laid his hands on him. So the Israelites listened to him and did what the LORD had commanded Moses. Since then, no prophet has risen in Israel like Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face, who did all those miraculous signs and wonders the LORD sent him to do in Egypt--to haraoh and to all his officials and to his whole land. For no one has ever shown the mighty power or performed the awesome deeds that Moses did in the sight of all Israel. L The Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God! Epistle: Hebrews 3:1-6 Therefore, holy brothers, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, the apostle and high priest whom we confess. He was faithful to the one who appointed him, just as Moses was faithful in all God's house. Jesus has been found worthy of greater honor than Moses, just as the builder of a house has greater honor than the house itself. For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything. Moses was faithful as a servant in all God's house, testifying to what would be said in the future. But hrist is faithful as a son over God's house. And we are his house, if we hold on to our courage and the hope of which we boast. L The Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God!

New Testament anticle (Music: LSB 266) hrist has been raised from the dead! ALLELUIA. ALLELUIA. hrist our assover Lamb has been sacrificed. Raised from the dead, He will never die again. Death has no more dominion over Him. hrist has been raised from the dead! ALLELUIA. ALLELUIA. Dying, hrist dies to sin, once for all. Living, He lives to God. ount yourselves as dead to sin and alive to God in hrist Jesus, our Lord. hrist has been raised from the dead! ALLELUIA. ALLELUIA. ongregation, please stand. The Holy Gospel: Luke 9:28-36 The Holy Gospel according to St. Luke, the ninth chapter. Glory to You, O Lord. About eight days after Jesus said this, he took eter, John and James with him and went up onto a mountain to pray. As he was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became as bright as a flash of lightning. Two men, Moses and Elijah, appeared in glorious splendor, talking with Jesus. They spoke about his departure, which he was about to bring to fulfillment at Jerusalem. eter and his companions were very sleepy, but when they became fully awake, they saw his glory and the two men standing with him. As the men were leaving Jesus, eter said to him, "Master, it is good for us to be here. Let us put up three shelters--one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah." (He did not know what he was saying.) While he was speaking, a cloud appeared and enveloped them, and they were afraid as they entered the cloud. A voice came from the cloud, saying, "This is my Son, whom I have chosen; listen to him." When the voice had spoken, they found that Jesus was alone. The disciples kept this to themselves, and told no one at that time what they had seen. The Gospel of the Lord. raise to You, O hrist.

THE GREAT THANKSGIVING It is truly good, right, and salutary that we should at all times and in all places give thanks to You, holy Lord, almighty Father, everlasting God, through Jesus hrist, our Lord, who at His transfiguration revealed His glory to His disciples that they might be strengthened to proclaim His cross and resurrection and with all the faithful look forward to the glory of life everlasting. Therefore with angels and archangels and with all the company of heaven we laud and magnify your glorious name, evermore praising You and singing:

In the night in which he was betrayed, our Lord Jesus took bread, and gave thanks; broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying: Take and eat; this is my body, given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me. Again, after supper, he took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it for all to drink, saying: This cup is the new covenant in my blood, shed for you and for all people for the forgiveness of sin. Do this for the remembrance of me. For as often as we eat of this bread and drink from this cup, we proclaim the Lord s death until he comes.
