, Swachh Survekshan-2017 A meeting under the Chairmanship of Dr. Manmohan Singh (KAS), Commissioner,, was held with respect to Swachh Survekshan which has been commenced on national basis from 4 th January, 2017 during the course of meeting threadbare discussion was held with the sanitation staff of the Corporation as well as with officers from Health Wing of JMC. Stressed was given for following the guidelines of Swachh Survekshan-2017 so that marks fixed for maintaining sanitation as well as other things can be achieved so that Jammu City can qualify in Smart City Challenge-2. The Commissioner, JMC while speaking on the occasion, added that sanitation staff are putting their possible efforts in achieving the challenge and further added that JMC have installed more dustbins within the limits of Jammu Municipal Corporation so that goal of maintaining proper sanitation can be achieved keeping in view the smart city. He stated that the sanitation staff has been provided two types of dustbins for door to door collection of garbage so that they can put the garbage in the containers to minimize the chances of garbage littering on the roads. He further appeals to the general not to throw garbage on the roads put the garbage in the containers installed for the purpose and extend their helping hands in achieving the goal of Smart City. , Encroachment Drive On the instructions of Commissioner, Dr. Manmohan Singh (KAS), Assistant Commissioner (Rev.), Jammu Municipal Corporation Mrs. Vinakshi Koul (KAS), Chief Enforcement Officer, Jammu Municipal Corporation Sh. Rajesh Gupta alongwith Revenue Officers and other field staff today on 18.01.2017 conducted intensive tour of the areas of City Chowk, Super Bazar, Purani Mandi, Raj Tilak Road, Moti Bazar, Parade etc. The team got the roads of these areas cleared from habitual encroachers who have displayed their belongings/ articles in front of their shops which was causing obstruction to pedestrian & free flow of traffic. The team warned the shopkeepers, Rehri/Phari wallas not to encroach the roads & footpaths otherwise their articles will be seized and action under rules may be initiated against them. 3 18 Jan. 2017
, Distribution of Dustbins by Continuing the efforts for the grand success of Swachh Bahart Mission today 18/01/2016 Sh. R.S. Jamwal, Joint Commissioner (A), JMC, Dr. Anita Salgotra, Health Officer, Sanitation Officer JMC in the presence of other sanitation staff of Health Wing distributed more dustbins in the markets of Jammu city. The markets covered today Residency Road & Vir Marg Jammu. On this occasion Mr. Sharma president market association Vir Marg and Mr. Sanjay Jain president market association Residency Road were also present alongwith their other team members. Speaking on this occasion Joint Com.(A) apprised the markets associations that the sanitation of those areas where the dustbins were earlier provided has been improved too many folds. So the Jammu Municipal Corp. has decided to provide more dustbins in other markets and residential areas also. The Joint Comm.(A) appealed the shopkeepers to collect the garbage of their shops in these dustbins and disposed nearby the containers / dustbins instead of throwing their shops. If any body found shall be strictly dealt under the provisions of Municipal Corp. Act 2000. The shopkeepers associations appreciated the various steps taken by Jammu Municipal Corp. to make the Jammu clean and green they also assured their full cooperation to the. 4 18 Jan. 2017
, Encroachment Drive To make the Jammu City congestion free and for smooth vehicular movement, Sh. R.S. Jamwal (KAS), Joint Commissioner (A), and Sh. Arun Manhas (KAS), Additional Deputy Commissioner, Jammu conducted an extensive tour of the areas viz. Parade, Moti Bazar, Purani Mandi, Raj Tilak Road, Super Bazar, City Chowk, Raghunath Bazar, Hari Market, Upper Gumat etc. and interacted with different shopkeepers associations as well as with the residents of the above said areas. During the tour, the shopkeepers were appealed to keep their belongings inside their establishments, as this is the main cause of hindrance in free flowing of vehicular movement and always lead to traffic jams in City. Since these areas are central market places and thousands of people usually visits for shopping purposes so there is huge rush of public on daily basis. During the tour Sh. Vinod Kumar (IPS), Supdt. of Police (North), Sh. Vivek Shekhar, SDPO City, Sh. Tajinder Singh, Dy. S.P. (Traffic) alongwith their subordinate staff also accompanied. They have also appealed the different market associations as well as general public not to their park their vehicles on roads to avoid traffic congestions and inconvenience to the general public as well. They assured the public that they will make a traffic movement plan of these markets and some areas will be declared as no Parking Zones and some roads will also be designated as One Way Traffic. They once again appealed the shopkeepers to keep their goods inside their establishments and do not cover drains/pathways which is a main cause of choking of drains resulting into insanitary conditions and causing inconvenience to the residents of the areas which they are complaining time and again. Keeping in view the various complaints pouring in the office and after assessing ground reality during the tour, the Joint Commissioner (A), JMC Sh. R.S. Jamwal (KAS) appealed the general public present on the occasion to extend their full cooperate to JMC in keeping the city neat and clean and avoid any encroachment on footpaths/drains etc. 5
All the Presidents of different associations of these markets assured that they will extend their full cooperation to JMC in this endeavor to mitigate the sufferings of the common masses residing in these vicinities. He further warn that the shopkeepers of these areas, if they fail to remove the encroachments made by them in that case action under J&K Municipal Corporation, Act shall be taken against the defaulter. During the occasion R. He also stressed for providing better services to the general public and he further stated that there is a need to educate the general masses to understand the need of the hour is to maintain our well being by way of keeping our surroundings neat and clean and it is duty of every citizen to pay more attention in respect of clean Jammu and green Jammu.
