It s where we learn from the biggest and most amazing lessons in the Bible. And to start off, I need you to bring the energy and the volume with our opening song! Everybody, up! Teacher leads the children in singing the song. 2 song Whew! That was even better than last time! And I think after that, we are all geared up and ready to learn another epic Bible Lesson! Our lesson today has a mighty army, a strong fortress, and even some serious destruction! The story can be found in the book of Joshua, and it starts at the end of chapter 5. Note: Play Bible Lesson Video chapter #. Bible Lesson Intro slide Joshua had been given instructions that didn t make sense. But the instructions had come from God, and Joshua knew that obeying God was the only way they could conquer the city. It s the same for us. We will more
than likely never have to conquer a city, but we will face moments when God s commands don t seem to make sense. Or maybe, we simply won t feel like being obedient. But just like Joshua, if we choose to be obedient, we will experience the incredible things God has planned for us. It s so important to obey God, that I think we should make that our Main Point for today. [] I Will Obey God! And I think everyone here knows what we need to do now. Stand up and get ready for some shouting! Main Point animation The Teacher works with the children to make up cheerleader-type hand motions that go along with the Main Point. Once everyone has gone over the Main Point, have the children repeat it with motions two or three times. Now that was an epic Main Point! From this Bible Lesson, we know what God commanded Joshua to do, and we know that Joshua obeyed. But I think we should talk about some of the things that God commands us to do. We can find God s commands, rules, and instructions for us in the Bible. That s why it is important for us to always take time to read the Bible. But the two greatest commandments for us in the Bible are first, to love God with everything we have, and second, to love other people. To put it simply, we should love God and love others. And that can be very difficult sometimes, but if we obey, great things can happen. However, now I m starting to wonder about our Bible Lesson. Joshua obeyed and the Israelites conquered Jericho. I can t help but wonder what could have happened if Joshua had chosen not to obey. What if the Israelites had just decided to attack instead of marching around the city like God commanded? What do you think might have happened? (allows children to respond) Hmm, those were very interesting ideas. In fact, I think this is interesting enough that it should be explored by the good people of Not So Epic Theatre! Let s see what Fernando Dupont and Chester Chinsworth have for us today. 5 6 Note: Play Skit Video chapter # 5 followed by Epic Field Game chapter # 6. 6 epic team challenge Once again, those guys at Not So Epic Theatre put together a very... interesting program. However, even though that was pretty silly, I am glad that Joshua chose to obey God instead of just attacking on his own. Because Joshua obeyed, God gave the Israelites victory. We should have the same attitude about obeying God as Joshua did. The Bible promises us that things will go better for us if we obey God. And that promise is our 7 Bible Verse 7 epic Bible Verse for today. Check this out. You will be blessed if you obey the commands of the Lord your God that I am giving you today. Deuteronomy :27 (NLT) That verse is a promise. It s doesn t say that we might be blessed, or we ll probably be blessed. It says we will be blessed if we obey. And I don t know about you, but I want to live a life that is blessed. And the only way 2 5 skit intro video and first narrator video
to do that is to obey God. Obey God even if it doesn t seem to make sense. Obey God even if you don t feel like it. Because obeying God is always the right decision. And one of the things God commands us to do, is to worship Him. So let s be obedient to Him and spend some time worshiping God by singing and through giving. 8 song 2 8 Teacher leads the children in singing the song. After the song, the Teacher begins the offering time. Thank you for singing. Now we ll continue to worship God by giving our tithes and offerings. This is the time to think about everything that God has blessed you with. This is a time to be thankful and to show our thanks by giving back to Him. Please bow your heads and pray with me as we prepare to give. 9 offering 9 OFFERING Note: Lead the children in prayer. If you want to, include elements of the lesson you are teaching today.
