Hellenic College ORIENTATION SCHEDULE

Welcome, new students! On behalf of the community, I congratulate you on your decision to attend HCHC. I am excited that you have made the choice to call Hellenic College Holy Cross your home away from home for the 2015 2016 academic year and beyond. HCHC is committed not only to high academic standards but to your intellectual, moral, and spiritual formation. As such, you should expect the start of this academic year to be full of opportunities and challenges which will contribute to your growth as a member of our Orthodox Christian community. New Student Orientation is scheduled for August 26 30, 2015, and is mandatory for all new students so that you can have the best possible transition into the joyful, vibrant life at HCHC. When you arrive on campus, you will begin your academic and co-curricular journey as members of a community seeking your formation and development into a service-oriented leader. Wednesday, August 26, 2015 MOVE IN/REGISTRATION Polemanakos Dormitory 10:00am Welcome to Hellenic College Holy Cross! Orientation staff will be on hand to assist students with moving in to their dorm rooms. LUNCH Condakes Refectory 12:00pm-2:00pm Lunch will be provided for all incoming students, parents, families, and orientation staff. PRESIDENTIAL WELCOME Library Reading Room 2:00pm Incoming students, parents, and families will meet with HCHC president, Fr. Christopher Metropulos, and the deans of Hellenic College Holy Cross. SMALL GROUPS Polemanakos Dormitory 3:00pm-4:15pm New students will be split into small groups for staff-led ice breakers and a campus tour. PARENT ORIENTATION Library Reading Room 3:00pm-4:15pm Parents of new students will meet with key members of the student affairs staff to learn about HCHC s faculty, programs, and expectations. A Q&A session will follow. PRESIDENTIAL RECEPTION Library Lobby 4:15pm New students, parents, and families will have an opportunity to mingle with HCHC faculty, orientation staff, and other incoming students. Refreshments will be served. VESPERS Holy Cross Chapel 5:00pm Students and parents are invited to join the entire HCHC community for Vespers in the Holy Cross Chapel. DINNER Condakes Refectory 5:45pm Dinner will be provided for all incoming students and orientation staff. ORIENTATION SESSION I Maliotis Cultural Center 7:00pm Led by Dn. Nicholas Belcher, Dean of Students, this session will introduce new students to student leaders of campus organizations, including the Campus Activities Board, Student Government Association, and Married Student Association. MOCKTAIL MINGLE Outside Administration Building 9:00pm A social event for all new students sponsored by the Campus Activities Board.

Thursday, August 27, 2015 ORTHROS Holy Cross Chapel 8:00am Join the HCHC community for Orthros in the Holy Cross Chapel. PRESIDENT S WELCOME BREAKFAST Condakes Refectory 8:45am Breakfast with the HCHC president, staff, and faculty. MEET THE DEAN AND FACULTY Maliotis Cultural Center 10:15am Students will meet Dr. Demetrios Katos, Dean of Hellenic College, and members of the college faculty. FACULTY ADVISEMENT Maliotis Cultural Center 10:45am Student meetings with academic advisers. LUNCH Condakes Refectory 12:00pm Lunch will be provided for all students and orientation staff. REGISTRATION/ADVISEMENT Registrar s Office 1:00pm-5:00pm Students will meet with the Registrar to register for classes for the Fall semester. PLACEMENT TESTING Faculty Office/Computer Lab 3:00pm An optional Modern Greek exam will be offered for seminarian students who wish to place in a level beyond Beginning Modern Greek. A math exam will be offered for students who have received notification that an exam is required. GREAT VESPERS Holy Cross Chapel 5:00pm Join the HCHC community for Great Vespers in the Holy Cross Chapel. DINNER Condakes Refectory 5:45pm Dinner will be provided for all students and orientation staff. SHOPPING TRIP Target 7:00pm The HCHC vans will transport students and orientation staff to Target in Watertown for a supply run.

Friday, August 28, 2015 ORTHROS Holy Cross Chapel 8:00am Join the HCHC community for Orthros in the Holy Cross Chapel. BREAKFAST Condakes Refectory 8:30am Breakfast will be provided for all students and orientation staff. SPIRITUAL FORMATION ORIENTATION Maliotis Cultural Center 9:30am Learn about spiritual life at HCHC and meet with spirtual fathers. DEPART FOR CAPE COD SEA CAMPS (CCSC) Brewster, MA 11:15pm Lunch will be provided. ARRIVE AT CCSC 1:00pm OPENING SESSION AND WELCOME 1:30pm-2:00pm Participate in group ice breakers. EMMAUS WALK/FREE TIME AT THE BEACH 2:45pm-4:00pm VESPERS AND BE STILL TIME 4:45pm DINNER 5:30pm HELLENIC COLLEGE STUDENT TESTIMONIES 6:30pm COFFEEHOUSE AND BONFIRE 7:30pm DEVOTIONALS 10:00pm Share expectations, hopes, and fears.
