Can I get an Amen? We all know this is true. No matter what kinds of plans we make, it so often seems that other things creep in and get in the way or just throw our plans out the window. The book of Proverbs talks often about people making plans, and about how those plans do not always turn out the way we hope or expect. As you may know by now, I will be having stomach surgery on Friday July 8 th at Porter Adventist Hospital. This a redoing or fixing of a surgery I had 16 years ago. That surgery back then was supposed to fix the troubles I was having with my stomach. It did for a little while. These digestive and gastric difficulties have returned and become worse than before. So, I will have a new surgery. Let s hope this time it fixes things more completely and permanently. I ask for your prayers as we go through this! Please pray me thru! I had great plans for this summer! We were going to go back to Indiana to visit family. We were going to spend more time in the mountains. I was going to make my best effort to visit each of our HPCC families. (Hopefully I can still do that this fall!) Plans change. Our hopes for things may go unfulfilled. Answers we sought and outcomes we hoped for may not materialize. BUT God is ALWAYS good! No matter what may happen, our Loving, Kind, Always- Present God will never let us down! I know that our Lord will guide the hand of my surgeon. The Lord will give him the wisdom and skills he needs to help me through this surgery. I know that my Dear Savior will heal me and help me to recover completely. Lord Jesus will make me stronger and healthier and feeling better than I have in a very long time. Our church life at HPCC will go on unabated through the time I will be off recuperating. I will be off about six weeks. In the meantime, we have lined up a great squad of preachers. Our elders and interns will help care for us. They will also lead us through the bulk of summer. I will be praying for you even as I ask you to pray for me! God s got us! And he will never let go of us! Isn t that awesome?! Thank You, Lord! In Christ, Thom

OUR PREACHING LINE UP FOR MID-SUMMER While pastor Thom is recovering and healing from surgery we will be in great hands with an All-Star lineup of great preachers! Each has been hand selected to bring us a great sermon as the Lord inspires them. Please pray for each of them and plan to be here for each Sunday. Here is the schedule. July 10 July 17 July 24 July 31 August 7 August 14 Anthony Lopez, a seasoned veteran of the HPCC pulpit Debbie Reher, returning after a long absence Dean Phelps, CRMR Regional Minister Tag Team Preachers Stan Lewis & Georgenne Tomlinson Taylor Smith in her debut pulpit appearance Matthew Smith, coming back for his second time here School Supplies Drive During July the church s outreach will be focused on school supplies. Kids need backpacks, notebooks, pencils, protractors, pens. The list goes on and on. As the cost of housing and food has increased providing these school supplies is sometimes difficult for families to finance. Since school begins in August, consider purchasing some of these needed supplies now. They will be distributed, as needed, to children of our congregation, then as a part of the school supply drive at Community Ministry. Please put your contributions in Fellowship Hall on the second long table next to the office door. Please give generously. BOB KUSTER DAY JULY 24 TH!! Our dear friend and long-time HPCC member Bob Kuster will turn 100 years young on July 21 st! This is an event worthy of celebration! So on Sunday July 24 th we will celebrate Bob Kuster Day here at HPCC. We will recognize Bob during worship with a rousing rendition of Happy Birthday. After worship we will have a cake in Fellowship Hall. In addition, we encourage everyone to bring a birthday card for Bob as we shower him with our love and congratulations. Make sure that you are here for this great day! Apparently between 50,000 and 55,000 living Americans have reached this milestone. Only about one hundred have reached age 110. Bob is on his way! Let s celebrate with Bob as he becomes an even rarer gem than he already is!

ALL CHURCH PICNIC The All Church Picnic will be July 31, 2016 at Lakeridge Park, 4600 S. Lakeridge Rd. after worship. There is one change this year. There will be no grilling. It is a potluck. Bring your favorite picnic dish, lawn chairs and games. The paper products and water and lemonade will be provided. DENVER CO 80236-2424 Web Site hpccdenver.org E-mail hpccdenver@gmail.com Fax 303-761-1997 ON THE LIGHTER SIDE: ROAD TRIP One afternoon, this guy drives down a highway to visit a nearby lake and relax. On his way to the lake, a guy dressed from head to toe in red standing on the side of the highway gestures for him to stop. The guy rolls down the window and says, "How can I help you?" "I am the red jerk of the highway. You got something to eat?" With a smile on his face, the guy hands a sandwich to the guy in red and drives away. Not even five minutes later, he comes across another guy. This guy is dressed fully in yellow, standing on the side of the road and waving for him to stop. A bit irritated, our guy stops, cranks down the window, and says, "What can I do for you?" "I am the yellow jerk of the highway. You got something to drink?" Hardly managing to smile this time, he hands the guy a can of Coke and stomps on the pedal and takes off again. In order to make it to the lakeside before sunset, he decides to go faster and not to stop no matter what. To his frustration, he sees another guy on the side of the road, this one dressed in blue and signaling for him to stop. Reluctantly, our guy decides to stop one last time. He rolls down his window, and yells, "Let me guess. You're the blue jerk of the highway, and just what the heck do you wanna have?" "Driver's license and registration, please."
