It is Easter Sunday, the day to remember that God has a home ready for each of us in Heaven because Jesus died for our sins and rose from the dead. Christ is risen! Because He lives, we too shall live. Jesus said, In My Father s house are many rooms. If it were not so, I would have told you. I am going to prepare a place for you (John 14:2). To all who believe in Christ, we have a future in God s Heavenly house. To celebrate this greatest of all truths, we have three special services at Redeemer during Holy Week: On MAUNDY THURSDAY, April 13 th, 6:00 p.m., we will celebrate the Living Last Supper, which includes a Jewish meal and a drama with Jesus and the 12 disciples on stage in the auditorium. On GOOD FRIDAY, we gather in the sanctuary at 7:00 p.m. to remember the death of our Savior for our salvation. On EASTER SUNDAY, we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus at 9:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Invite your friends to these special services. Give them the hope that you have through Christ, who loves all people and wants all to be with Him forever. In Christ, REFLECTIONS

2 Redeemer Good News April 2017 REDEEMER CHRISTIAN ACADEMY This is an unsolicited letter that I am honored to share with you this month. It speaks volumes about Redeemer Christian Academy from a parent point of view. You may want to grab a box of tissues before reading, I know I needed them. Dear Parents of Redeemer, It warmed my heart as I drove by Redeemer recently and saw many of you gathered on the sidewalk visiting with each other after picking up your children from preschool. It reminded me of myself many years ago... and God placed it on my heart to write this letter... My husband Todd and I enrolled our three-year-old in the pre-school 3 class in the fall of 2001 at the recommendation of a friend who had 3 children attending. At the time, I hadn't even thought about what we would do for school after preschool, I was just happy to have our son in a "nice little preschool". Over the course of Sam's time in preschool at Redeemer I fell in love with the staff and the Christian environment. Sam was progressing and happy and loving preschool. The kindergarten room was just the next door down the hall from the preschool room and even though we were living in a great publicschool district I began to realize that I couldn't imagine my son anywhere else but in that kindergarten room. I wanted him to stay and to continue being a part of what I felt was a true gift to us...a place of grace and love and passion for teaching kids about Jesus right alongside a quality education. For us it was an easy decision to stay at Redeemer for grade school. Fast forward 16 years...we have now have had two boys go all the way through Redeemer and our youngest son is now in sixth grade. I know it's that time of year when many of you have to make decisions about next school year... and maybe you are wondering if Redeemer is the right fit for your child, understandably. We all want the best for our kids. So before you automatically enroll in your local public school or another private school, I sincerely hope you consider entrusting Redeemer with your child's kindergarten through 8th grade education. I give thanks so often to God for the teachers at Redeemer who have played a key role in who our kids are today. It is so evident that teaching at Redeemer is more than a job to them but rather a partnership with families to help raise our Submitted by Linda Wiebold, School Administrator SCHOOL WEBSITE: school.redeemerwayzata.org children who are well-equipped academically but more importantly equipped with a Christian foundation. Our boys are great students, but most significant to us is that they are Godly young men who have huge hearts for the Lord and for others. I am hopeful that this letter will touch your heart and help you make the decision to enroll your child at Redeemer Christian Academy. REGIONAL SPELLING BEE Congratulations to the following students who will go on to represent Redeemer Christian Academy at the regional spelling bee at Lutheran High School in Mayer. Grades 7-8: Tiara Boisselier and Sydney Roepke, Grades 5-6: Marcus Johnson and Grace Lomando, Grades 3-4: Chris Crum and Jerzie Wohlman, Grades 1-2: Hannah Ferber and Christian Kroll. Go Redeemer! PLEASE JOIN US IN WELCOMING FIVE (5) NEW STUDENTS We love it when you tell your neighbors and friends about Redeemer. You ve probably noticed the flyers posted on the school and church doors welcoming prospective families as they tour. That s mostly because you fabulous families are sharing how much Redeemer means to you and your child(ren) with those around you! We re so proud of our school, and of you for telling those in your circle of influence how Redeemer s made a difference in your child s life! I am currently tracking about 10 other students whose families have toured, or will tour. There has been a lot of interest in our school, and again, we thank you! Keep up the good work telling others about us! National Volunteer Week is an annual celebration observed in the United States and Canada in mid- to late-april, to promote and show appreciation for volunteerism. In the United States it is organized by the Points of Light Foundation. Redeemer s staff wishes to thank and recognize all the people that give so generously of their time and resources. Our volunteers are truly the heart of Redeemer! There are over 80 volunteer ministries here at Redeemer, run by our wonderful volunteers. As a small token of our appreciation we wish to invite all those who volunteer here or elsewhere to stop in. We would like to thank you with a cup of coffee and a little something sweet; stop by Monday April 24 through Friday April 28. Redeemer Good News is a monthly newsletter for members and friends of Redeemer Lutheran Church & School in Wayzata. Newsletter articles are due the third Thursday of the month. Submit articles, news, and event items to Stacy Klone at sklone@redeemerwayzata.org. Comments and suggestions are welcome.

Redeemer Good News April 2017 7 IT STARTS WITH: THE MISSION + THE STRATEGY + THE TEAM + THE SUPPORT This ministry began with a woman with a dedicated mission heart named Helene Loewe Koehler who responded to a plea from Mr. Fred Graepp for Braille Bibles for blind pastors in Germany. Her file cabinet for the Braille manuscripts consisted of a shoe box under her bed. Her brother got involved and created a press using rollers from their mother s ringer washer. Helene soon sought assistance of the Ladies Aid Society of Trinity Lutheran Church, which became the first of nearly 200 Braille and Large Print Work Centers. JUST THINK!!! Now, nearly 75 years later, there are nearly 200 Work Centers and 5,000 volunteers making it possible for Christian publications to be distributed (free of charge) in 30 languages to more than 120 countries around the world. HELPING PEOPLE TOUCH THE PROMISES OF JESUS will you join us in this ministry? There are three ways in which you can help: 1) PRAYER; 2) VOLUNTEER; 3) FINANCIAL. VOLUNTEER DATE SET FOR TRAINING OF VOLUNTEERS FOR BRAILLE WORK CENTER AT REDEEMER Friday and Saturday, April 28 & 29, 2017, are the dates set for training of volunteers for Braille Work Center at Redeemer. Ability to read Braille is NOT a requirement. All that is needed is a commitment of your time for the training, and four hours of your time each month to help with collating, assembly, punching, binding, stamping and checking and shipping of materials. For a successful beginning a minimum of 8-10 volunteers is needed. Volunteers must pick up a Procedures Manual for Braille Work Centers (available on a table in the lobby) prior to the training session. Though the manual may look complex, don t let it frighten you away. This is a TEAM effort and there are many tasks to perform, You will be able to choose the task best suited for you. Reading the Manual will give you an overall picture of how this material is produced and distributed. An added benefit Don t forget the FELLOWSHIP and RELATIONSHIPS built and strengthened through working together. Invite a friend to join you in HELPING PEOPLE TOUCH THE PROMISES OF JESUS.

8 Redeemer Good News April 2017 REDEEMER DAY SCHOOL REBRANDING & SPRING FUNDRAISING UPDATE SPRING WORK DAY MAY 6, 8:30 A.M. Dear Friends and Families of Redeemer: We are very excited with the progress of our Day School Rebranding, and look forward to our transition to Redeemer Christian Academy for the 2017 18 school year. In conjunction with this endeavor, the Redeemer leadership group feels that the time is appropriate to initiate a capital fund drive this fall, to solicit financial support for the expansion of our ministries and the updating of our facility. As such, we have decided to forego the annual Redeemer Spring Auction this year, and replace it with a scaled back spring fundraising event, primarily focused on the solicitation of donations for 2017-18 day school scholarships. We ask for your continued support of our Day School Rebranding efforts, and prayers for our Lord s guidance as we seek His will for Redeemer s future. May God continue to bless you and your family. In His Service, P K Congregation Chairman It's that time of year when we "spruce up" our facility and grounds God has entrusted us with. Plan on spending the morning of May 6 with other members beginning at 8:30. There will be inside and outside tasks. We've had limited hands showing up the last few workdays. Please consider volunteering a bit of your time. Hank Radintz 612-865-2130 REDEEMER CHURCH DIRECTORIES Are scheduled to arrive mid- April. All those that had their photo taken to be part of our directory will be notified when they arrive and can pick them up at the church office. Any others wishing to have a copy or want a second copy can purchase them for $5. Pick up a Procedures Manual for Braille Work Centers at the table in the lobby prior to the training session. 10 Redeemer Good News April 2017 FROM THE STUDENT MINISTRY DIRECTOR appy Easter! He is risen! H Can you tell how I feel about Easter Sunday? I don t think there is a Sunday throughout the year more exciting to me than Easter Sunday. It has nothing to do with bunnies or chocolate or the fact that the weather has hopefully changed for the better it s all about Jesus! He won! And because He won we have won too! Jesus conquered sin and death forever! He willingly endured rejection by His own people, brutal treatment at the hands of the Romans and a horrible death on the cross to pay for our sins. Ephesians tell us that He did all this while we were still dead in our transgressions. He gave us what we needed most before we even realized we needed it. Now when sinners come to the realization of their sin they have the way already prepared for them to be redeemed. Jesus paved the road of salvation with his own bloodshed for people in advance of their own revelation of how much they actually needed it. The reality of what Jesus did for us personally should provide the motivation we need to greet each day with a thankful heart. Isn t it refreshing to be reminded of that? Students just like adults need to be reminded of the reality of Christ s work in their lives. Our lives are so full of stuff to do that we lose the focus of who we are and where we re going. Today s family is so busy. Subsequently we have busy students balancing plates that are overflowing. I believe the state of being busy causes us amnesia. We forget who we are, WEDNESDAY MORNING WOMEN S BIBLE STUDY Heaven: Finding Our True Home is the new Bible study for the Wednesday Morning Women's Bible Study. Heaven is hard for us to picture. We think of floating on clouds, singing praises and playing harps, or walking on streets of gold. While we know we want to go to heaven, we are a little nervous about what it will be like. These Bible studies provide a biblical perspective on heaven --something richer and more exciting than we can imagine! We invite you to join us on Wednesday mornings at 10:00 in the Gathering Room, starting April 6th. For more information, contact Linda Krantz at 763-476-0587 or Mary Sund at 763-233-2417. Joe Lomando why we are here and why we do what we do on a daily basis. Then when life throws us a curveball or the enemy attacks. We are like sheep out in the wilderness lost and defenseless. Take the opportunity this month to stop, be quiet, look up to the heavens and breathe. Remember who you are (alive in Christ, child of the King) and why you are here (salt and light and to fulfill the plans He has for you). In other words stop and smell the roses or the tulips or whatever shrubbery you prefer and remember, He is risen! THE GATHERING WEDNESDAYS 6:00 P.M. UNTIL 7:30 P.M. All students currently in grades 6-12 are invited to The Gathering on Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. The Gathering is a community of students joining together for worship, Word, and small groups.
