Sacred Heart Parish Palm Sunday of the Passion of the Lord Six days before the Passover, when the Lord came into the city of Jerusalem, the children ran to meet him; in their hands they carried palm branches and with a loud voice cried out: Hosanna in the highest! Pastor s Corner Dear Friends in Christ, Holy Week has begun as we celebrate Palm Sunday of the Passion of the Lord beginning with his Messianic entrance into Jerusalem to accomplish his Pascal Mystery. Since Christ accomplished his work of human redemption and is the perfect glorification of God principally through his Pascal Mystery, in which by dying he has destroyed our death, and by rising, restored our life, the Sacred Paschal Triduum of the Passion and Resurrection of the Lord serves as the high point of the entire Liturgical year. I invite you to join me and your brothers and sisters in Christ in the liturgies of these days of Holy Thursday of the Lord s Supper, Friday of the Passion of the Lord and the Easter Vigil in the Holy Night. The Paschal Mystery celebrates mystery i.e., not what happened once to Jesus but what is happening now among us as a people called to conversion, gathered in faith, and gifted with God s Spirit of holiness. We celebrate God taking possession of our heart at its deepest core, recreating us as a new human community broken like bread for the world s life. We are disciples of Christ, servant leaders, adopted sons & daughters of our Heavenly Father in community rich in compassion, steadfast in hope, and fearless pilgrims who search for justice and peace for the world. Have a blessed Holy Week. Yours in Christ, Father Mike PS For those working during the day, the Living Stations are also on Good Friday evening at 7pm. The church will be open for Veneration of the Cross throughout the day. Holy Week Office Hours The Parish office will be open normal hours Monday, April 10th Wednesday, April 13th. The office will be open from 8:30 12pm on Holy Thursday and closed for Good Friday. We will reopen again with normal hours on Monday, April 17th.
