JESUS TELLS THE PARABLE OF THE WORKERS PAID EQUALLY Matthew 20 Say- Talking about the Kingdom of God 1 For the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man (Landowner, God.) that is an householder, which went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard (To His people.). 2 And when he had agreed with the labourers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard (You obey my law; you ll get a reward.). 3 And he went out about the third hour (A parable never happened.) (9 A. M.), and saw others standing idle in the marketplace, 4 And said unto them; Go ye also into the vineyard, and whatsoever is right I will give you. And they went their way (An attitude of just; because been God s people for a longtime; don t think I ve got it made.). 5 Again he went out about the sixth (12)and ninth hour, and did likewise. 6 And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and saith unto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle? 7 They say unto him, Because no man hath hired us. He saith unto them, Go ye also into the vineyard; and whatsoever is right, that shall ye receive. 8 So when even was come, the lord of the vineyard saith unto his steward, Call the labourers, and give them their hire, beginning from the last unto the first. (The Bible tells us 13 Thou shalt not defraud thy neighbour, neither rob him: the wages of him that is hired shall not abide with thee all night until the morning. Leviticus 19:13, James 5:4) 9 And when they came that were hired about the eleventh hour, they received every man a penny. (Received the same pay; doesn t have anything to do with how long we worship God. We will inherit the same thing.) 10 But when the first came, they supposed that they should have received more; and they likewise received every man a penny (Some people obey God to a point and then they draw a line and set boundaries and a calamity comes along and they split not a real relationship; complained and said that s not fair.). 11 And when they had received it, they murmured against the goodman of the house (We must think I will never forsake Christ.),
12 Saying, These last have wrought but one hour, and thou hast made them equal unto us, which have borne the burden and heat of the day. (The Bible tells us 8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; 9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. 10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. 11Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him. Matthew 4:8-11 (Even though Satan temped Him; He was still in authority and said vs. 10; quoting the word of God; the reason Jesus overcame Satan was He had God in Him.) (The Bible tells us 11 And there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense. Luke 1:11) 13 But he answered one of them, and said, Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst not thou agree with me for a penny? (How dare they ask?) 14 Take that thine is, and go thy way (Don t complain; be happy.): I will give unto this last, even as unto thee. 15 Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? Is thine eye evil, because I am good? (The Bible tells us 21 Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour? 22 What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath (Those who repent of their sins.) fitted to destruction: 23 And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory, (He wants all to be in this category and in their time He will.) Romans 9:21-23) 16 So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen. JESUS PREDICTS HIS DEATH THE THIRD TIME 17 And Jesus going up to Jerusalem took the twelve disciples apart in the way, and said unto them, (The Bible tells us 32 Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven (By obedience of the law of God-our actions; we bear witness; we will be like Him.) 33 But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven. 34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. Matthew 10:32-34) 18 Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be betrayed unto the chief priests and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death,
19 And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify him: and the third day he shall rise again. (The whole world was guilty of the crucifixion.) (The Bible tells us 21 From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day. Matthew 16:21) (The Bible tells us 28 Then led they Jesus from Caiaphas unto the hall of judgment: and it was early; and they themselves went not into the judgment hall, lest they should be defiled; but that they might eat the passover. John 18:28) (The Bible tells us 23 Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain: Acts 2:23) JESUS TEACHING ABOUT SERVING OTHERS 20 Then came to him the mother of Zebedees children with her sons, worshipping him, and desiring a certain thing of him. (The Bible tells us 21 And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them. 22 And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed him. Matthew 4:21-22) (The Bible tells us 35 And James and John, the sons of Zebedee, come unto him, saying, Master, we would that thou shouldest do for us whatsoever we shall desire. 36 And he said unto them, What would ye that I should do for you? 37 They said unto him, Grant unto us that we may sit, one on thy right hand, and the other on thy left hand, in thy glory (Still had wrong nature in them; human nature.). 38 But Jesus said unto them, Ye know not what ye ask: can ye drink of the cup that I drink of? and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? 39 And they said unto him, We can (Confident without much thought.). And Jesus said unto them, Ye shall indeed drink of the cup that I drink of; and with the baptism that I am baptized withal shall ye be baptized: 40 But to sit on my right hand and on my left hand is not mine to give; but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared. 41 And when the ten heard it, they began to be much displeased with James and John (They wanted the same position.). 42 But Jesus called them to him, and saith unto them, Ye know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them. 43 But so shall it not be among you (Not a bad thing-don t function like that.): but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister (servant): 44 And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all (Slave of all; not the Master of slaves.). 45 For even the Son of man came not to be ministered (serve) unto, but to minister (serve), and to give his life a ransom for many. Mark 10:35-45) 21 And he said unto her, What wilt thou? She saith unto him, Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on the left, in thy kingdom. (The
Bible tells us 28 And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. Matthew 19:28) (The Bible tells us 3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. James 4:3) 22 But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We are able. (The Bible tells us 3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. Matthew 26:39) (The Bible tells us 36 And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt. Mark 14:36) (The Bible tells us 11 Then said Jesus unto Peter, Put up thy sword into the sheath: the cup which my Father hath given me, shall I not drink it? John 18:11) 23 And he saith unto them, Ye shall drink indeed of my cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with: but to sit on my right hand, and on my left, is not mine to give, but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared of my Father (Jesus is not the boss, God is.). (The Bible tells us 17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. Romans 8:17) (The Bible tells us 9 I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ. Revelation 1:9) 24 And when the ten heard it, they were moved with indignation against the two brethren. (The Bible tells us 24 And there was also a strife among them, which of them should be accounted the greatest. Luke 22:24) (What happened to the foot washing attitude they had learned by being with Him for 3 ½ years?) 25 But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Ye know that the princes (rulers) of the Gentiles (Nations) exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them. (They don t know the concepts of God s Law of Love.) 26 But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; (The Bible tells us 11 But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant. Matthew 23:11) (The Bible tells us 35 And he sat down, and called the twelve, and saith unto them, If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all. Mark 9:35) (The Bible tells us 3 Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being examples to the flock. 4 And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away. 5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and
be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble (Be submissive to one another; this is the problem no humilty.). I Peter 5:3-5) (How many people believe it and practice it.) 27 And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant (Means servantthat s a great person.): 28 Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many (How many have that nature or follow His example.). JESUS HEALS A BLIND BEGGAR If you want to change be like the greatest servant in the world-jesus 29 And as they departed from Jericho, a great multitude followed him. (The Bible tells us 46 And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging. 47 And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me (Acknowledged He was the Messiah; the King of Israel.). 48 And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou son of David, have mercy on me (He kept seeking and knocking; He couldn t see physickally but saw the truth spiritually.). 49 And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee. 50 And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus. 51 And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight. 52 And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way (Now he could see physically.). Mark 10:46-52) (He had just given the sermon about being a servant.) 30 And, behold, two blind men sitting by the way side, when they heard that Jesus passed by, cried out, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou son of David. 31 And the multitude rebuked them, because they should hold their peace: but they cried the more, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou son of David. 32 And Jesus stood still, and called them, and said, What will ye that I shall do unto you? (He came to serve and He did it-true to His nature.) 33 They say unto him, Lord, that our eyes may be opened (Why didn t the disciples help him before.).
34 So Jesus had compassion on them, and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him. (The multitude didn t have compassion.) MEMORY VERSE So Jesus had compassion on them, and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes received sight, they followed him. Matthew 20:34 SABBATH LESSON FOR TOTS
JESUS TEACHING ABOUT SERVING OTHERS AND GOING ON FROM THENCE, HE SAW OTHER TWO BRETHREN, JAMES THE SON OF ZEBEDEE, AND JOHN HIS BROTHER, IN A SHIP WITH ZEBEDEE THEIR FATHER, MENDING THEIR NETS; AHD HE CALLED THEM AND THEY IMMEDIATELY LEFT THE SHIP AND THEIR FATHER, AND FOLLOWED HIM. BUT JESUS SAID UNTO THEM, YE KNOW NOT WHAT YE ASK: CAN YE DRINK OF THE CUP THAT I DRINK OF? AND BE BAPTIZED WITH THE BAPTISM THAT I AM BAPTIZED WITH? BUT JESUS CALLED THEM TO HIM, AND SAITH UNTO THEM, YE KNOW THAT THEY WHICH ARE ACCOUNTED TO RULE OVER THE GENTILES EXERCISE LORDSHIP OVER THEM; AND THEIR GREAT ONE EXERCISE AUTHORITY UPON THEM. BUT SO SHALL IT NOT BE AMONG YOU, SHALL BE YOUR
MINISTER (SERVANT): AND WHOSOEVER OF YOU WILL BE THE CHIEFEST, SHALL BE A SERVANT OF ALL (SLAVE OF ALL.) FOR EVEN THE SON OF MAN CAME NOT TO BE MINISTERED (SERVE) UNTO, BUT MINISTER (SERVE), AND TO GIVE HIS LIFE A RANSOM FOR MANY. MARK 10:35-45) AND JESUS SAID UNTO THEM, VERILY I SAY UNTO YOU YE WHICH HAVE FOLLOWED ME, IN THE REGENERATION WHEN THE SON OF MAN SHALL SIT IN THE THRONE OF HIS GLORY, YE ALSO SHALL SIT UPON TWELVES THRONES, JUDGING THE TWELVES TRIBE OF ISRAEL.
