The Good News from SJB Where We Have an Attitude of Gratitude Mark Your Calendar Scholastic 2 for 1 Book Fair May 2-6 Teacher Appreciation Week May 2-6 Plant Sale May 10 & 11 Scholastic Summer Road Trip May 11 Festival of Roses May 20-22 Field Day June 2 Last Day of School June 2 Principal s Weekly Letter At today s May Crowning Mass we celebrated the 2 nd Graders First Communion. The May Crowning teaches us about the Gospel that the greatest in Heaven are those who humbly love and serve here on Earth. Jesus is our perfect example. He came to serve, not to be served. Mary, Jesus mother, whose glory we celebrated today, was a humble servant of the lord. She lived her life fully and experienced both great joy and terrible suffering. Mary reminds us that God graces us in every moment of our lives. We are called to celebrate our place in God s kingdom, and be free, as Mary was, to answer with joy, Let it be done to me according to God s will. Thank you to the Ms. Pernich, the 2 nd Grade students, faculty and staff, and the 5 th Graders for their participation in our beautiful liturgy! Thank you as well to the 4 th Grade students faculty and staff (and Mrs. Page) for their effort with the County Parade. The students learned a lot about Utah s twenty-nine counties, and the floats were amazing! Finally, a big thanks to the parents who creatively decorated the classroom doors for Teacher Appreciation Week! Your time and creatively are greatly appreciated. Kudos to the students who received recognition in the Skaggs Catholic Center s Fra Angelico Arts Festival! The art display Kindergarten through Twelfth Grade, will be on display in Saint John the Baptist Church s Gathering Space through the end of May. MAY CROWNING & FIRST COMMUNION CELEBRATED AT MASS Today our 5th grade girls continued the tradition of creating a flower canopy over our 2nd graders as they processed into the church dressed in their 1st Holy Communion attire. The flowers were placed at the altar and we celebrated a beautiful Mass in honor of Holy Mother Mary. It was a wonderful day to welcome our new young students into the sacrament of Communion.
