WELCOME We are so excited that you have joined us today. Whether it is your first visit here, or your first time to any church, we hope you feel welcomed and accepted. We appreciate your interest in discovering what GVCC is all about. Green Valley is a non-denominational Community Church that welcomes people from all walks of life, regardless of where they are in their spiritual journey. We are a community of Christ followers committed to loving God and loving others. One word that sums up why we are here: GRACE. At Green Valley, we love seeing God work in the lives of others. He shows up at the most unexpected and amazing times. If you have any questions about our church or how to become more involved, check out our website at greenvalley.church or contact us at info@greenvalley.church. OUR OFFICE HOURS Tues & Thur 9-5, Wed 1-5 and Fri 9-3 We are closed for lunch from Noon to 1 PM. 530.622.3231 SERVICE TIMES Midweek service is Wednesday at 7 PM Weekend services are Saturday at 6 PM and Sunday at 8:30, 10 & 11:30 AM. Green Valley Community Church is located in the beautiful Sierra Nevada foothills of Northern California. We serve a large part of El Dorado County.

HISTORY Green Valley Community Church started in 1930 as a community outreach church. The church went through many seasons of growth and retreat over the years. In 1994, Ken Burkey (Senior Pastor) gathered the small staff of GVCC together and prayed that God would help them use up every inch of our facilities in service to people. Ken also shared a fresh vision for accomplishing that goal and reaching the community through the Ephesians 4 model of ministry ministry based on using the gifts of all the people in the church and not just on the abilities of one pastor. This Biblical team concept, coupled with a sincere compassion for the lost, resulted in a renewed passion for our community that remains strong today. In 2007, we expanded our campus to include a new Children s Building. There we hold Kid s Place, Jr. High and High school programs along with classes and support groups throughout the week.

WE BELIEVE ABOUT GOD God is the Creator and Ruler of the Universe. He has eternally existed in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. These three are coequal and are one God. ABOUT THE BIBLE The Bible, both Old and New Testaments, is God s word to all. It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. The Scriptures are inspired by God, and are infallible and inerrant in the original manuscripts. They are the unique, full and final authority on all matters of faith and practice, and there are no other writings similarly inspired by God. ABOUT SALVATION Salvation is a gift from God to all people. Men and women can never make up for their sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ, as God s offer of forgiveness, can a person be saved from sin s penalty. When God has begun a saving working in the heart of any person, He gives assurance in His Word that He will continue performing it until the day of its completion. ABOUT THE CHURCH The church is composed of believers who gather for worship, fellowship, communion, spiritual growth and the use of individual gifts to further God s mission to reach the world with the message of salvation. Under the supportive care of elders and the church board, its members are to work together in love and unity, intent on the one ultimate purpose of glorifying Christ. ABOUT MEMBERSHIP GVCC doesn t have church membership in the traditional way. We believe, if you call Green Valley your church home, that makes you a member. We believe a church is a community of dynamic relationships, where we grow, serve, and give of ourselves to others. If that s you, and you re doing that here with us, then guess what? You re a member of GVCC; welcome to the family! ABOUT BAPTISM Baptism shows others that a person has made a personal decision to follow Jesus Christ. It represents that a person has accepted Christ s death on the cross as a substitute judgment for his or her sins; that a new life has begun in Christ. GVCC s River Baptism takes place at the end of August at Henningson Lotus park. ABOUT COMMUNION Jesus Last Supper, shared with his disciples on the night before he was crucified, is the biblical foundation for the Communion meal celebrated by Christians all over the world today. Jesus asks his followers to remember him through celebrating Communion together.

WHAT TO EXPECT WE HOPE YOUR EXPERIENCE AT GREEN VALLEY WILL LOOK SOMETHING LIKE THIS: When you walk through our doors, you can expect someone will say Hello!
