HOLY TRANSFIGURATION ORTHODOX CHURCH November 19, 2017 FEAST OF THE ENTRANCE OF THE THEOTOKOS Baptism and Chrismation of Sonya Colette Finzel

8:30 AM Orthros 9:30 AM Divine Liturgy During the homily childcare is offered in the great room for children 2 years old and younger and a Bible class is offered in the parish house for children ages 3-7. The girls and young women of our parish are invited to carry flowers in the Great Entrance and place them before the Icon of the Theotokos. 11:15 AM FELLOWSHIP MEAL Throughout November we are depending on those whose last names begin with A - J to bring the food and help clean up the great room. THANK YOU, EVERYONE! 11:30 AM 1:30 PM ANNUAL LEAF RAKING FESTIVAL Having been rained out last week, our leaf-raking party is taking place today. Everyone is invited to join the fun right after our fellowship meal. (Our usual church school classes will not meet today.) Jobs we hope to accomplish: 1. blow leaves out of flower beds and into piles in the parking lot. 2. rake and bag leaves Again this year some neighbors have asked if they may have our bags of leaves. They request that we put no sticks, paper, food, or anything else into the bags only LEAVES. They also request the do not tie the bags with knots. We will make only 1 loop at the closing of each bag. 3. Pound stakes into the ground all around the parking lot. These will serve as guides for our vehicles when the snow starts piling up. 4. Clean the gutters around the roof on all three buildings (or at least on the garage and parish house. The church roof may be too high for any of us, and we may need to hire someone to go up there!) WITH EVERYONE WORKING TOGETHER, WE WILL BE ABLE TO ACCOMPLISH ALL OUR GOALS AND HAVE A GREAT TIME!

Providing the Holy Bread today: Bonnie Parisek next Sunday: Les and Jill Wolf As a parish we are grateful to those who faithfully prepare the Holy Bread (Prosphora) each week. FOR PRAYER AND PRAISE Ask the Lord for healing of body and soul for: Gus Karantzis Mariana Cuceu Becky DeRenzo s mother Beverly Pray for our college students: Mary Alcott, Maria Lewis, Katie Morrison, Melanie Nassif, Nick Smith on Thursday This week we celebrate these special days in our parish: Sbdn. For the past several years a family in our parish has generously provided us with beautiful church calendars and they have done so again this year. These calendars supply us with the dates for Feast Days, Saint Days, daily Scripture readings, fasting details, and more. This is an excellent resource for our homes and as a parish we are very grateful for this provision. The calendars are on the table in the foyer and each family is invited to take as many calendars as their family can put to good use.

This Wednesday, November 22, 7:00 PM AN AKATHIST OF THANKSGIVING On Thanksgiving Eve we will gather to give glory to God for His goodness and then enjoy dessert, fellowship and beautiful instrumental and vocal music in the great room. The Laird family will be with us, as well as other guests. You will not want to miss this happy time of fellowship! We are asking that each family bring a dessert to share. Decaf coffee, tea and cider will be provided. This Saturday 5:00 PM Great Vespers 6:00 PM Confession Our annual FOOD FOR HUNGRY PEOPLE campaign starts today and continues until the end of the year. Please bring canned food, food staples, new or lightly used clothing and toys and put them in the containers in the great room. During the first week of the new year your donations will be taken to Lifesprings Ministry in Aurora. Lifesprings ministers to homeless women and children. Please take this opportunity to talk within your family about how we can help those who are in need.
