St. Christopher's Book Discussion Group will meet at 2 pm on Tuesday, November 21st, to discuss William Goldman's The Princess Bride. This is, according to amazon, "a simple, exceptional story about quests - for riches, revenge, power, and, of course, true love - that's thrilling and timeless." For additional information, contact Christine Meloni at cfmeloni@hotmail.com. Janet Quinn will facilitate the discussion. ECHO TOY DRIVE December 3rd will mark a visit from our special guest, Bishop Nicholas of Myra. This year, as we have in the past, we will have a collection of new, unwrapped toys to donate to ECHO. Please bring your toy(s) that day to be displayed in thanks for all the many gifts we have and to brighten the lives of those less fortunate than we. For those who do not choose to go to a toy store at this time of the year, you may make a donation for the purchase of Discovery Toys. If you donate cash, please give it DIRECTLY to me. If you write a check, make it payable to St. Christopher s Episcopal Church and write Discovery Toys on the memo line. The ECHO Gift shop eagerly awaits our donations each year as we tend to bring about four to five thousand dollars worth of toys. Your generosity is GREATLY appreciated. Bishop Goff & Confirmations and Receptions! - In just a few months, on Sunday, January 14, 2018, our Bishop Suffragan for the Diocese of Virginia - Bishop Susan Goff - will lead both of our Worship Services that morning. At 10:30 a.m. she will also preside over Confirmations (for those already baptized in a Christian tradition) and Receptions (for those Confirmed in another Christian Tradition who wish to formally become Episcopalians). For parishioners (as defined by the Diocese: regular attendees, givers and participants) high school ages on up please see Fr. Peter so that he can arrange for you to go through the proper preparation for this Sacrament. High School Youth might have a few gatherings with our Youth Minister for Teens, Meredith Maple, while adults will go through a "home study" program offered by Fr. Peter. Episcopal parishioners from other parishes may also join us on that Sunday, but those individuals should have their rectors contact both Fr. Peter and the Diocese of Virginia. Remember our Bishop visits are once every two years, so if you are truly ready to consider to make the commitment to this Christian rite of passage, now is the time to make that known! You can contact Fr. Peter by phoning the Church Office.
