We pray for our Diocesan Link with the Diocese of Thika, for Bishop Julius and his people, and for the country of Kenya. In our own diocese we pray for Christ Church Jebel Ali and for its Chaplain the Rev d Tim Heaney and praise God for the increase of faith and for the number who worship there; at all times praying for a united and peaceful Chaplaincy, one that recognises the authority of Bishop Michael Lewis ministry as an overseer, and is obedient to Christ and His chosen leaders. In our own Parish of Paphos we pray that God will guide the right person to come forward, and in due time through the selection and interview process, become our new Parish priest. We give thanks for the ministry of our Locum priest Archdeacon Malcolm and all who serve in the running of the parish during this interregnum. Please keep Anetta Stylianou, from the Diocesan Office, and Cathy Semple, wife of Rev d Sean Semple, in your prayers as they recover from treatment for cancer. 1

For further prayers during the week please go to our Diocesan Prayer Guide Booklet and also the Anglican Communion website: www.anglicancommunion.org/acp WHAT S GOING ON TODAY & THIS WEEK Sunday 4th October 8.15am 9.30am 11.00am 6.00pm 6.00pm Wednesday 7th October 9.00am 10.30am Thursday 8th October Holy Eucharist (Archdeacon Malcolm) - Ayia Kyriaki Morning Worship (Reader Ann Bailey) - St. Luke s Holy Eucharist (Archdeacon Malcolm) - St. Stephen s Sung Eucharist (Archdeacon Malcolm) - Ayia Kyriaki Peace & Wholeness with Holy Eucharist (Rev d Andrew) - St. Luke s Holy Eucharist - Ayia Kyriaki Prayer Support Team Meeting - St. Stephen s 10.00am Ecumenical Bible Study. So that we can claim back any tax, it is vitally important that the information required on the front of the blue Gift Aid envelope is completed IN FULL. If this is not done we are unable to make a valid claim. Your participation in the Gift Aid Scheme is much appreciated as the church is totally self-supporting. 2

Thank you. Gift Aid envelopes are provided with the Weekly Notice Sheet for your convenience. GENERAL NOTICES PLEASE NOTE: Next week s edition of the Weekly Notice Sheet will cover two weeks, the 11th and the 18th, so please don t throw your copy away when you have read it on the 11th! If you have any notices to go in for the 11th and/or 18th please let me have them by 10am on Wednesday 7th October. Thank you. Sarah Sait Friends of the Anglican Church in Paphos: If you are a visitor or even a Swallow you might be interested in becoming a Friend of the Anglican Church in Paphos. If you are interested or would like further information please pick up a leaflet from the Warden or Sidesmen. Thank you for your support. The Major Fundraising Team has been looking at what it can do to raise the funds required to make up the ACP s projected shortfall for 2016 subject to the approval at the next round of congregational meetings. However David Gisborne (SL) and Jacquie Hammond (AK) will not be available next year so we are seeking replacement volunteers to participate on the Management Team. This will be for one year only as the ACP will be budgeted to be in surplus if fund raising continues to the end of 2016. Anyone willing to join the Team should let me know (26 622948) and preferably be available to attend our next meeting at St. Stephen s on 20th October at 2 o clock when the Christmas Balloon Race will be finalised and next year s programme discussed. Roger Bailey Singers urgently needed for choir for Sunday evening services at Ayia Kyriaki. Please contact Jane on 97 751166. Jan Gibson Parking Outside St. Stephen s: The Congregation of St. Stephen s would be grateful if anyone attending the Church could refrain from parking on the open space outside the building. Visitation and Gathering Service - Saturday 10 October: For those wishing to travel by intercity bus, the times are as follows: Leaving Paphos Karvella (Bus) Station at 0930hrs, arriving Nicosia Bus Station at 1130hrs Leaving Nicosia Bus Station at 1800hrs, arriving Paphos Karvella Bus Station at 2000hrs. Men s Breakfast Fellowship: It s Bacon and Egg time for the gentlemen of the Men s Fellowship Breakfast meetings. It has been a long, hot summer and now we can, hopefully, settle down to cooler days. Trevor Gage has passed on the baton to me although he has set up the first meeting of the season in advance - thank you, Trevor! We start with a talk on Saturday, October 10th by someone whose background is very interesting indeed. A life time spent with motor bikes (a real biker ), rifle shooting at Bisley, no less, running a national newspaper, handling printing presses, and being a member of boardrooms and, I suspect much more. When I tell you that this speaker tells me that three essentials are always at hand - a broad sense of humour, a lipstick and a spare pair of tights - well, I can now reveal that the speaker in question is not a fellah but a very attractive lady who, when I first met her, was wearing a lovely summer dress and a beautiful hat. Linda Matthews. The title of her talk is In a Man s World - And Loving It. One not to be missed! For more information contact William Smith on 96 446498 or email: wim.s941@gmail.com ADVANCE NOTICES Women s Group: In October, St. Stephen s will be the venue for a presentation by Janine Scott, on how modern technology is improving healthcare for you and me. This will be at the usual time of 3p.m. on Thursday 15th October, and refreshments will be provided by ladies from Ayia Kyriaki. Our last meeting for 2015 will be at 3p.m. on Thursday 19th November, hosted by and held, at St. Stephen s. The speaker will be Joan Brewster telling us about the humour she found in teaching; it promises to be another entertaining afternoon. Please put these dates in your diary. If you require any further information, please contact Barbara Reid on email: b.reid32@gmail.com or 96 673393. Recycled Cards: Sue and Lou will be selling their Recycled cards on Sunday 25th October and again on Sunday 22nd November after the 8.15am service at Ayia Kyriaki and after the 11.00am service at St. Stephen s. Should you wish to replenish your stock of greetings cards please do keep these dates in mind; all money raised goes to local charities. Men s Breakfast: On November 14th we will enjoy breakfast with Andrew Symonds. The title of the talk has yet to be announced. I look forward to seeing you there on both occasions. I will send a reminder nearer to the date. For more information contact William Smith on 96 446498 or email: wim.s941@gmail.com Day Away - 21 November 2015-10am to 4pm: Led by Rev d Wilf Gowing and held at St. Paul s Anglican Cathedral, Nicosia. Bring your own lunch - drinks provided. For further details please see the poster on the notice boards in each Church 4
