For Your Information THIS MORNING we begin the Advent season with a series on "The Shepherds' Gospel" from Luke 2.8-11. The first message will focus on the angel's admonition to the shepherds to "Fear Not." We will also reflect on the expectations of the coming of Messiah through the traditional use of the Advent candles. In the evening service Pastor Hawkins will return to Ezekiel and the Living as Exiles series. The message will focus on a series of metaphors from Ezekiel Chapters 15-17: Grapes, a Woman, and Eagles. THANKSGIVING FOOD DRIVE ends today. The South Fort Myers Food Pantry is in great need of protein-rich items. Dropboxes are placed throughout the Shell Point Campus. For specific details, please see the brochure in the church narthex. NEXT SUNDAY we continue in Advent with the second message from "The Shepherds' Gospel" series from Luke 2. This message will focus on the Messiah as Savior, and we will participate in the Lord's Supper as well. In the afternoon we will have a baptism service at the Aquatic Center. The service will begin at 4:15 p.m. and conclude with a time of fellowship with refreshments. The baptism will be in lieu of an evening service. A BAPTISM SERVICE WILL BE HELD next Sunday afternoon, at 4:15 p.m. at the Shell Point Aquatic Center on the Island. Everyone is invited to attend and participate in the worship service, hear the testimonies, and affirm the public

proclamation of identification with Christ inherent in the ordinance of baptism. A fellowship time with refreshments will take place following the service so you can greet those who will have been baptized. If you would like to be baptized, contact the church office or see one of our pastors. Due to the baptism there will be no evening service. STUDY WITH THE PASTOR -- All who are participating in Study with the Pastor by using the Scripture Union devotional Bible study Encounter With God are invited to an interactive gathering on Monday, December 5 at 10:15 a.m. in the Hospitality Room. Bring a favorite observation or blessing that you have received from the devotional to share with the group, or even a question for the Pastor. A MEETING OF THE MEMBERSHIP will be held Wednesday, December 7, at 7:15 p.m. in the sanctuary to approve the 2017 budget and elect the Nominating Committee. Copies of the proposed 2017 budget are available in the Narthex (one per family). While only members will be eligible to vote, all are welcome and encouraged to attend. JOIN IN A CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION on Sunday, December 11, at 6:15 p.m. featuring Hal Hopson s classic Christmas arrangements interwoven through a service of lessons and carols presented by The Village Church Choir, the Celebration Ringers and the Southwest Florida Festival Orchestra. Tickets are $10 and are available at the church office or at the door as available. THE CHURCH LIBRARY is in need of volunteers to staff the library for a two-hour shift once a week. Please contact John Schulke at

481.1309 if you are interested. MISSIONS PRAYER REQUEST: Rejoice for new teammates who will join the staff at Bongolo Hospital, perhaps in 2018. The husband is a surgeon, and the wife is a family physician with anesthesia training. These are areas where the hospital really needed help, and God is providing! write Alliance workers Eric and Wendy Hofman, who minister at Bongolo. Pray for the new couple as they complete their home service and prepare for their new roles.
