El Toro January 2012 Our Creed: We Believe That faith in God gives meaning and purpose to human life; That the brotherhood of man transcends the sovereignty of nations; That economic justice can best be won by free men through free enterprise; That government should be of laws rather than of men; That earth's great treasure lies in human personality; And that service to humanity is the best work of life. Written by : C. William Brownfield July 1946 A Jefferson City Jaycee Publication (573) 893-3950 A Message from our President Welcome to a New Year. The first thing that I have to say is a huge thanks to all of you for supporting me. I know that it may have been a surprise when I was elected, but most of you know me well enough to know what I m all about. I hope that A Message from Our Management Development VP Happy New Year, Jefferson City Jaycees! I hope that your holidays proved to be bright and warm with your close friends and family. So, now we begin to talk about the New Year for this chapter. I am extremely excited about the possibilities for us! This next year stands to be one of rebuilding. Rebuilding of relationships, rebuilding of our confidence, and the rebuilding of the best chapter in the state!!! I hope that you are as excited as I am as we begin a new journey into leadership and service. As Management Development Vice everyone is ready for a fun filled year. We will be continually striving to be the very best that we can be and I hope you will too. So, with everyone s help, this will be the best year we can make it. I hope to see all of you there at installation, to recognize the outgoing President, my main goal is to help our chapter continue on it's current path towards greatness and success. Of course there is always that job of maintaining the POC points and administrative work, including managing the rentals. This I will do with great diligence. I hope that you will help me by bringing in all those items that help build our points in the Parade of Chapters throughout the year. Remember though, these points do NOT count if we do not get to growth in membership. This is where our focus should be this year, because without the growth of membership, our chapter will continue board for all that they have done, and also to congratulate the new board for stepping up into the positions they have been elected to. Devin Harris to be strained for help and strength during projects and events. I encourage each and every one of you to come out to at least ONE meeting this year. I'm not asking a lot here. I just want to see your friendly faces again, and also hear your thoughts on our chapter in its current state. Without your voice, we on the board cannot effectively run this chapter and represent you in the state. We also just really want to see you!!! The more the merrier, right? So come on out! De'Nel Holliday

El Toro Page 2 of 6 A Message from our Community Development VP "In your hands lies the destiny of a great organization. Let us build it to national recognition. Let us organize it in the interest of the young men for a greater America. Let us not fail in this task." Henry Giessenbier, Jr. (1892-1935) USJC Founder Hello! Hello! Happy New Year to all of my fellow Jaycees! Thank you for allowing me to serve as your Community Development Vice President this year. I am looking forward to an eventful year filled with wonderful projects to benefit our community. The Easter Egg Hunt, Pitch Tournament, and Photo Safari Hunt are projects that are typically held during the first trimester. If you are interested in being the chairperson of any of these events, please let me know. As always, we welcome new projects too. Let s work together to make our organization and the community better. Allison Redel A Message from our Individual Development VP Terry Rowland working hard to keep the parade in line and in order. This is not the easiest job! I think she made it through unscathed. Oh, IDVP desk, how I have missed you! We spent two good years together and now, here we are, together again! HA! We all know there is very little I enjoy more than sharing knowledge with my friends, so let me just put this offer out there Aaron did a fabulous job last year having speakers visit us once a month. Are there any topics you would like to see discussed by a speaker at a meeting? We all know what s going to happen if I get to set up all the speakers, so I d love to have some input from the peanut gallery, so to speak!!! I don t have anyone yet for January, but by the time the 24th gets here, I should be able to change that. I d also really enjoy a writers group, if anyone is interested. Just a place to share your writings, not matter what genre they fall in, with other people that enjoy the act of writing, to get some constructive criticism in order to improve. You don t have to be professional or even consider yourself good. You merely have to want to improve in some manner. Call or email me if you are interested. As always, if anyone has any ideas for projects that would benefit the advancement of our membership, please let me know. I m always up for a new project or rehashing one we ve done before! Thanks, and it ll be a good year, Tater!!! Nicole Besche Buckley

Page 3 of 6 The Official Bull Sheet A Message from our Membership VP Hello Jaycees! I want to start by thanking everyone for a great year. I had a lot of fun serving as your IDVP last year, thank you for your input and your attention paid to the guest speakers that we had. Also, thank you to all that attended the Mixology event and the Jefferson City Penitentiary Tour, making both successful events. I also want to thank President Tony and the rest of 2011 board for all their hard work and help throughout the year. Switching gears I will now be serving as your Membership Vice President in 2012. I am excited for this new challenge. We have 8 members that need to renewed in January including President Devin Harris. We are looking for ideas for M Nights and ideas on activating our membership. I am excited for the new year and I know that President Devin and the 2012 board have a lot of ideas to move this great chapter forward. This should be a year filled with fun, excitement, and growth. Aaron Garms Many of the parade entrants worked hard to keep themselves warm and dry.
