Liturgical Year and Faith Formation The liturgical year possesses a great value for the formation of one who is initiated into the mystery of salvation through its organic presentation of the Word of God in the course of the year, together with the other celebrative elements of the liturgy.
The liturgical year should not be treated as a mere pedagogical instrument or a means for Christian formation, by its nature and structures it has great potential for opening up to the faithful the great riches of the powers and merits of Christ (Cf. SC 102).
The liturgical year, with its structure, offers an experiential itinerary in the journey of faith; it offers a permanent formation to the baptized Christians. By the participation in the liturgical celebrations, helps a baptized person to enter more deeply into the salvific message of the Paschal Mystery.
The Mystagogical Dimension in the Liturgical Year The fundamental mystagogical moments - the celebration itself, the moments of hearing the Word of God, the performing of the rituals and actions together with the singing and praising and the living contact with the mystery of salvation itself - are present in the liturgical year.

awkfhmà mew The Readings, Prayers and Hymns, Feasts, Propria of this season remind the faithful the people in the Old Testament who became aware of their miserable condition and their hope for the Saviour, the people of the New Testament also should become aware of their helplessness and sinful situation and walk towards Jesus and make a place in their hearts for Jesus to be born.
awkfhmà mew The presentation of the misery of fallen man, the saving interventions of God in the Old Testament, the hope-inspiring messianic prophecies, the miraculous events which preceded and followed the Birth of Jesus are meant to create a deeper religious experience.
