GRADES OF MEMBERSHIP & ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS Agreed standards with effect frm AUGUST 2004 PURPOSE The purpse f this dcument is t set ut the structured basis fr membership f ARC Inc. ARC Members mutually reslved n 12 th June 1999 t endrse membership criteria and specify classificatins applying t membership subscriptins. 1. INTRODUCTION Australian Reiki Cnnectin Inc. has been frmed t act as a prfessinal assciatin fr independent Reiki Channels, Practitiners and Teachers. One f its gals is t achieve frmal accreditatin by an apprpriate bdy. In rder t achieve this gal, ARC members at the level f Reiki Teacher have set dwn minimum agreed standards fr the teaching f the varius levels f Reiki and t assciate these standards with grades f membership. Areas f cmmn agreement have been used as a basis as far as pssible and the slutins endeavur t maintain a fair and reasnable balance between inclusiveness - the willingness f ARC Inc. t welcme, hnur and supprt the intentin f Reiki peple frm all backgrunds - and the adptin f unequivcal standards f prfessinalism necessary fr ARC Inc. t be accepted as a credible prfessinal bdy. 2. FUNDAMENTALS ARC Inc. is funded upn the principles and practices f the Usui System f Reiki. Hands-n attunement in the Usui Reiki traditin is a basic requirement fr any level f membership in ARC Inc. ARC Inc. recgnises and welcmes diversity arising frm different lineages within the Usui traditin. Hwever, in rder t maintain minimum agreed standards f practice, nt all lineages and practices are deemed acceptable by ARC Inc. In cases where any intending member des nt attain membership r a particular grade f membership, ARC Inc. Teachers are available t prvide additinal teaching and attunements t bring that individual t an acceptable standard. This may incur a fee. 3. MEMBERSHIP STRUCTURE The Usui Western traditin custmarily acknwledges three levels f Reiki: Reiki I, Reiki II, Reiki Teacher. These three levels crrespnd t attainment f specified levels f skill and understanding and receipt f the crrespnding attunements. The Japanese terms Shden, Okuden and Shinpiden are increasingly being used t dente the three levels. ARC Inc. has used a criterin based upn the interface between its members and the public, as fr example wuld be required in rder t infrm intending clients r students f the prfessinal, ethical and legal standing f an ARC Inc. member, t specify the fllwing grades f membership.
Within ARC Inc. three Reiki levels and three membership categries are recgnised. Member Categry Reiki I, Reiki II, Reiki Teacher Attuned by a teacher meeting ARC Inc. criteria Agree t adpt, fllw and supprt the Cde Of Ethics f ARC Inc. All initial applicatins t jin ARC Inc. are made in the standard Member categry Practitiner Categry Reiki II, Reiki Teacher Attuned by a teacher meeting ARC Inc. criteria Meets ARC Inc. business and insurance criteria Agree t abide by the ARC Inc. Cde Of Prfessinal Practice Abide by State and/r Federal enactment - e.g. NSW Cde Of Cnduct Fulfils annual Persnal & Prfessinal Develpment [P&PD] - Practitiner requirements Practitiner categry is achieved thrugh upgrading frm Member categry Teacher Categry Reiki Teacher Attuned by a teacher meeting ARC Inc. criteria Meets ARC Inc. business and insurance criteria Fulfils annual Persnal & Prfessinal Develpment [P&PD] - Teacher requirements Teacher categry is achieved thrugh upgrading frm Practitiner categry and by meeting additinal criteria - In this classificatin, the basic Usui qualificatins f members are taken as given. Hwever, the classificatin is quite rigrus, particularly with respect t practitiners and teachers. Reiki Teachers and Practitiners are nt restricted in the nrmal cnduct f their practices r Reiki training classes. The criteria applied t these categries and the Perfrmance Criteria Guidelines fr the Teaching f Reiki is set ut as fllws. 4. MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES Member status is available t persns wh: Have been trained and hands-n attuned in the Usui System f Reiki by a Reiki Teacher whse qualificatins and practices are established as meeting the criteria laid dwn by ARC Inc. fr recgnitin f Teachers. [Reiki I, Reiki II, Reiki Teacher. Hands-n attuned by a Teacher meeting all ARC Inc. criteria] Prvide a certified cpy f their certificate r certificates shwing the name and signature f the Teacher, level attained and date f training. Prvide a cpy f the LINEAGE f their Teacher(s). [List Yur Teachers Teachers etc. back t Usui] Meet such ther requirements as are specified in the ARC Inc. Cde f Ethics fr Reiki Channels.

Current insurance cver fr prfessinal negligence and public liability. Meet all the requirements as specified in the ARC Inc. Cde f Prfessinal Practice and Cde f Ethics. Pay an upgrade fee as prescribed. A Persnal & Prfessinal Develpment (Credit Pints) Bklet will be issued t all Practitiner members annually. Practitiners, wh wish t retain their membership categry classificatin and if applicable remain n the ARC Inc. register fr referral t the public, must cmplete this recrd f persnal and prfessinal develpment annually. Failure t submit this recrd will result in the Practitiner member being remved frm the referral register and be given Member categry classificatin. Teacher Categry Membership status is available t persns wh: Have training and hands-n attunement t Reiki I, Reiki II and Reiki Teacher levels by a Reiki Teacher wh can demnstrate their unequivcal lineage within the Usui traditin and wh can prvide this lineage t students. Have instructin in the histry f Mika Usui s teachings f the Usui System f Reiki, either the versin brught t the West by Haway Takata and/r the verified histrical data mre recently available. Have received the fur sacred Usui Reiki symbls, (3 in Reiki II and 1 in Teacher), tgether with their meanings, instructins fr their use and fr their prtectin frm prfanatin. The ability t maintain a clear distinctin between the Usui symbls & any ther mystical r healing symbls. Have knwledge and prficiency f five basic elements f the system f Reiki. These are teaching hand psitins, mantras and symbls (in Reiki II and Teacher), the Reiki affirmatins r precepts, relevant techniques and/r meditatins, and perfrming and teaching attunements. Prvides r makes prvisin fr, n-ging supprt t students, by being available fr ne-n-ne r grup discussin, and/r supprt grups. Meet all the requirements as specified in the ARC Inc. Cde f Prfessinal Practice and Cde f Ethics. Have prvided a certified certificate r certificates shwing the name and signature f the Teacher, level attained and date f training. Perfrmance Criteria Guidelines fr the Teaching f Reiki General All Reiki teaching will be cnducted in accrdance with prfessinal standards f instructin and the envirnment in which it is cnducted, including but nt limited t: Students will be prvided with a safe, clean, well-ventilated place in which t learn. Instructin will be prvided in a wrkshp frmat, r ne n ne as apprpriate, ver at least 10 teaching hurs. Wrkshps will be limited t nt mre than 20 students fr Reiki I and fewer than 20 fr Reiki II. The Reiki Teacher will have the necessary qualificatins, knwledge and prficiency t teach the Usui System f Reiki and t attune students using the fur Usui symbls. Individual attunements will be given, using hands-n physical cntact. The fundamentals f the Usui System f Reiki will be taught in accrdance with the traditin f the teacher. Where additinal material is intrduced, it is t be clearly distinguished frm Usui Reiki teachings. The Reiki Teacher will prvide access t nging prfessinal develpment. Hlding a Reiki I wrkshp All students having cmpleted an ARC Inc recgnised wrkshp will have been taught all infrmatin and techniques necessary fr them t becme prficient Reiki Channels and will be able t demnstrate a wrking knwledge f Reiki I. Students will be taught: The Usui Reiki histry. The Reiki principles and ethics. Hw t channel Reiki fr self-healing. Hw t channel Reiki fr healing thers, including full bdy and shrt (seated) treatment. Students will be individually attuned t Reiki I using ne r mre hands-n attunements. N symbls are required t be taught t students at Reiki I.
Hlding a Reiki II wrkshp It is a requirement that an interval f at least 21 days and preferably f 2-3 mnths has passed between the cmpletin f Reiki Level I and training in Reiki Level II The suitability f each intending student will be individually assessed by the Reiki Teacher All students having cmpleted an ARC Inc recgnised wrkshp will have been taught all infrmatin and techniques necessary fr them t becme prficient Reiki II channels and will be able t demnstrate a theretical and practical wrking knwledge f Reiki II. Students will be taught: Three Usui Reiki sacred symbls, their meanings and uses and their prtectin. An understanding f the practical applicatins f the three symbls: Hw t use the symbls fr hands-n and distant healing. The ethics required when using the symbls. Students will be individually attuned t Reiki II using ne r mre hands-n attunements. Each student will have had adequate practice time and will have access t nging assistance and supprt frm their Teacher. Hlding a Reiki Teacher level wrkshp It is envisaged that an interval f preferably ne year has passed between the cmpletin f Reiki II and the undertaking f Teacher Level Intending students shuld attend a number f Reiki I and Reiki II classes and assist their Reiki Teacher. The qualificatins and suitability f each intending student will be individually assessed by the Reiki Teacher. Where necessary, additinal training r ther supprtive actin shuld be taken befre Teacher Level is undertaken. The Teacher will satisfy him- r her-self as t whether the student has - Demnstrated regular and respnsible use f Reiki in his r her life. Shwn an understanding f the cmmitment invlved in becming a Reiki Teacher and agreed t undertake and hnur this cmmitment. Made a further cmmitment t self-master their lives accrding t the principles and ethics f Reiki. A gd understanding f Reiki thery and practice.
Knwledge f their Reiki lineage. Assciatin f Australian Reiki Prfessinals Cnsidered the time frame necessary t fully achieve the aims f the curse. Authenticated past training (e.g. by prducing certificates and prviding evidence f hands-n attunements). Undertaken additinal training r skill r persnal develpment (e.g. studied wrkplace training, studied and/r received cunselling, studied business management). Students will be taught: The requirements and fundamental principles handed dwn in the Usui traditin fr the attainment f the title f Reiki Teacher. The sacred Usui Reiki Master symbl, its meaning, uses and its prtectin. An understanding f the practical applicatins f the Master symbl. The ethics required when using the symbl. Prcedures fr carrying ut hands-n attunements at Reiki I, Reiki II and Teacher level. Students will be individually attuned t Teacher Level using ne r mre attunements as apprpriate fr the initiatin f a Teacher. Each student will have had adequate practice time and will have access t nging assistance and supprt frm their Teacher. All students having cmpleted an ARC Inc recgnised prgram f training will have been taught all infrmatin and techniques necessary fr them t becme prficient Reiki Teachers and will be able t demnstrate a theretical and practical wrking knwledge f Reiki I and Reiki II and all that is required t teach these levels. Further they will have a theretical and practical wrking knwledge t teach a suitable candidate t Teacher Level within an individually agreed timeframe.
