Harvest Church Worship Zone, KZ Worship Ministry APPLICATION PACKET The Vision Harvest Church s Praise and Worship Ministry is targeted to reach the un-churched through authentic, Christ-centered praise and worship and to disciple the churched by providing opportunities for them to worship in Spirit and in Truth. Worship Zone participates in this vision by leading and teaching children with authentic worship. Qualifications and Characteristics COMMITTED CHRISTIAN: Individuals on a ministry team must be saved and committed to Christ. We cannot minister to others in Jesus name if we do not know Him. You are a living example of worship. (Romans 12:1) COMMITTED TO HARVEST CHURCH AND CHILDREN S MINISTRIES: As a member of a worship team, you must be committed to the Lord, to Harvest Children s Ministries and God s work here. We are looking for faithful servants who will go the distance with us. COMMITTED TO GROWTH: Team members should be dedicated to nurturing their relationship with God, knowledge of the Word and musical ability. Members of the KZ worship teams should be accountable to a small group. (Encounter Youth Small Groups, SITE56 Preteen Ministry) COMMITTED TO EXCELLENCE/MUSICAL TALENT: Because this is a music ministry, excellence is a goal as we seek to offer our best gifts. Each team member must be committed to practice, attend rehearsal, and make music as an act of excellent worship, worthy of the King of Kings. (Colossians 3:23-24) SERVANT S HEART: You know that you have a servant s heart when you don t mind being treated as one. Team members are NOT PURSING PERSONAL GLORY: We are pursuing Jesus and His glory. We understand that Jesus set the example for us to serve. He calls us to serve others. (John 13:12-15) Further, we understand the importance to lead and mentor children in true worship. FAITHFUL, DEPENDABLE, PUNCTUAL: If we are late, we not valuing our team members. Someone has to wait for us. We are stealing our team member s time. We are hindering the effectiveness of the team by limiting their practice time. Team members should honor and prefer one another above themselves. Our first act of worship is being where we have committed to be when we commit to be there. This is a unique quality in our culture, but it exhibits character. 3
MINISTRY INFORMATION DESCRIPTION: Children love to sing and dance, and this team leads them in singing and dancing as a means of praising and worshiping our Lord. Instrumental and Dance Worship Teams lead kids in worship together in Konstruction Zone on Sunday mornings, so it is important that they be spiritual leaders first. As a member of the team, you must be committed to faithful attendance and growing in the Lord. It is the team member s responsibility to contact Mrs. Debi or the Children s Ministry Office if they are unable to serve. Team members may be asked to sit out if they are unable to fulfill their commitment to the worship team. SERVICE: Two KZ Worship Teams are selected: Team #1 and Team #2. Team #1 serves on the 1 st and 3 rd Sundays of each month. Team #2 serves the 2 nd and 4 th Sundays of each month. For special occasions, teams may be merged for one large team. (Ex. Easter) Team members should be in on stage in KZ ready for rehearsal on each of their scheduled Sundays no later than 7:45am for sound check. Teams play both services, but are dismissed after playing for the second service (appx. 11:15am). Occasional team practices will be scheduled, as needed. If you have any questions about the service commitment required for this team, please ask before you audition and make a commitment to this ministry. DRESS CODE: Harvest welcomes everyone. However, we must be careful not to distract attention from the Lord to ourselves. For this reason, we have a few simple guidelines: 1) Worship Zone members must wear Worship Zone black t-shirts. 2) Please wear shoes that you can dance in. 3) Shorts and short skirts are not acceptable. 4) Do the mirror test-before coming to church, check yourself in the mirror from all perspectives. Is there anything showing or being accentuated that shouldn t be? Jump up and down and see what moves and how much. It can save us from unnecessarily offending or distracting our brothers and sisters. 5) Dress to serve God s glory, NOT your own personal style or ego. 4

Pastor s Recommendation-We place a high value on character. The pastor s recommendation insures that you have the foundation of integrity supporting your talent. Please seek recommendation from a pastor or a youth leader. KZ Worship Ministry Fair Tryouts- This event will give you an opportunity to audition and interview for the teams. Please be prepared to play and/or sing something appropriate for Konstruction Zone. You may also be asked to play and/or sing a couple of song selections (chosen by the interview team) with other musicians. Rehearsals-You will be required to Sunday morning rehearsals (7:45am) to familiarize yourself with how things function, become acquainted with present team members, and learn songs. The Invitation-After prayerful consideration the youth and children s pastors may invite you to become part of the team and ask you to make a one year commitment. Please do not overwhelm your leaders with Did I make it? questions! We will inform you of your placement. Please understand that there are only a specified number of openings on each team. If you are not selected for a team, you can express your desire to serve with this ministry in another position. We want to help everyone find a place of service in ministry! PLEASE REMEMBER Your value is not in what you do, it is in WHO you belong to. Not everyone will make a team at this time. Worship Teams are not the only way to minister at Harvest. We are a big body, and there is so much to be done for the Kingdom. 5
