December 8, 2013 Issue #478 THE POPE & THE FALSE PROPHET PART IX Here s where we ended last time: One of Vatican s leading astronomers said that the Vatican has been studying the ramifications of astrobiology and specifically the discovery of advanced extraterrestrials. That s an amazing statement. And it is not an anomaly among the hierarchy of Catholic scientists and churchmen. Pronouncements by the Roman church some very recent and some dating back decades have been pointing to the conclusion that Rome is ready to embrace visitors from another galaxy and possibly even adjust their theology to accommodate their existence. OPENING UP TO A NEW WORLD Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God. (2Thessaloians 2:3-4) Scripture teaches two occurrences that have been described as the Great Apostasy. One found in 1Timothy 4 describes a gradual falling away; a giving in to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons. That s been going on almost from the beginning of the Church. Starting in the 4 th century, the church began to adopt pagan customs instituting the veneration of saints and Mary, for instance prayers for the dead, the notion of purgatory and the like. That marriage with worldly, demonic doctrine has manifested gradually over the centuries. But it is the passage in 2Thessalonians quoted above that we find something else. The apostasy referenced there is a sudden falling away from the Faith. It describes an event that will lead to the revelation of the Man of Sin, the Antichrist. We do not know the nature of the event..but we can know that it is coming. And the world may be being prepared for it even now. [Here is an interesting side trip that may be relevant to our discussion. The former Vatican Jesuit Fr Malachi Martin gives us some insight on what may lie ahead in his 1990 book: The Keys of this Blood. You will recall that in our last installment we quoted Martin telling us that the late Pope John Paul II Paul believed that there was a 3-way struggle for world domination going on between Communism, the West and the Church, headed by the Pope. This was a struggle that he believed that Rome had to win in order to safeguard the rights of the peoples of the world. But there is more to that in fact something that speaks directly to today s subject. He also believed that the Catholic Church would win that struggle, aided by a supernatural, powerfully psychic vision (of Mary, it so happens), that would be visible to the entire globe. Did you catch that? This vision would produce an engulfing chaos that would lead to mass conversion of the peoples of the world to Roman Catholicism and acceptance of the Pope as the universal spiritual leader of mankind. 1 In the words of Dr Joe Van Koevering, John Paul believed that this apparition would give him, - or a future pope, - the spiritual authority to rule over a church / state world government. 2 Martin says that this event that will fission human history on public view in the skies, in the oceans, and on the continental landmasses of the planet. He goes on to say that it will immediately nullify all the grand designs the nations are now forming. 3 The point of all of this is that John Paul was anticipating a worldwide vision that would alter the nature of faith on a global scale.] Authors Tom Horn and Cris Putnam confirm that, referencing a string of recent comments by numerous Vatican astronomers confirming a growing belief (or inside knowledge?) that disclosure will be made in the near future of alien life, including intelligent life, and that this encounter will not challenge the authority of the Roman Catholic Church. 4 This is what the late Pope and many in today s Roman hierarchy believe. To understand just what they could be talking about let s look at some of the pronouncements coming from the lips and pens of scientists in the Vatican s employ.
First there is Father Jose Funes of Argentina. He holds that any alien life would be our brother. When it comes it should not shake the foundations of the Catholic faith but rather confirm the true faith of Christianity and the dominion of Rome. [That s much the same thought that Pope John Paul had. Mmmmm!] Then there is Dr Christopher Corbally, formerly 2 nd in command at the Vatican Observatory. According to Horn & Putnam, he believes our image of God will have to change once alien life is confirmed. And Guy Consolmagno wrote: Perhaps it s not so far-fetched to see the Second Person of the Trinity, the Word, Who was present In the beginning (John 1: l), coming to lay down His life and take it up again (John 10: 18) not only as the Son of Man but also as a Child of other races? 5 Just how might our understanding of God change? Fr Giuseppe Tanzella-Nitti believes that it would be mankind that would likely be evangelized by the spirituality of an alien race. In an article entitled Extraterrestrial life, published in the Interdisciplinary Encyclopedia of Religion & Science, Tanzella- Nitti wrote: a believer who is respectful of the requirements of scientific reasoning would not be obliged to renounce his own faith in God simply on the basis of the reception of new, unexpected information of a religious character from extraterrestrial civilizations. So if the little green men come and begin teaching a new theology we don t have to renounce our views all at once. But once the trustworthiness of the information has been verified, the believer should try to reconcile such new information with the truth that he or she already knows and believes on the basis of the revelation of the One and Triune God, conducting a re-reading inclusive of the new data. 6 This is confirmed by Curia member Monsignor Corrado Balducci. As a Vatican consultant on human contact with supernatural beings Balducci believes in the reality of the phenomenon. These encounters are NOT demonic, they are NOT due to psychological impairment, they are NOT a case of entity attachment, but these encounters deserve to be studied carefully. 7 Yes, they need to be studied and so would say such prophecy writers as Chuck Missler and Steve Quayle though both of these latter would strongly disagree that they were not demonic. This study of, almost preoccupation with, things alien, has warped, it would seem their theological thinking. The limits of their thinking, would, in the mind of Dr Corbally, need be expanded. While Christ is the First and the Last Word (the Alpha and the Omega) spoken to humanity, he is not necessarily the only word spoken to the whole universe. Notre Dame Professor of theology, Thomas O Meara makes the point that what the Bible gives us is not a history of the universe; it is a particular religious history on one planet. the central importance of Jesus for us does not necessarily imply anything about other races on other planets... Believers must be prepared for a galactic horizon, even for further Incarnation. 8 But prepared for what? To change our Christian understanding of God, perhaps, as Tanzella-Nitti would suggest? With so many real variables present, it is really hard to say what effect alien might have on the world s religions. And though studies and think tanks have discounted the effect such an encounter would have, reason tells us otherwise. [In fact, in supposed close encounters, the religious perspective of the aliens the ET religion, if you will has strongly reflected the beliefs found in New Age thought. Mankind is evolving spiritually is ready to take another quantum leap of consciousness. Jesus is just another Ascended Master. We too, can achieve that level.] S Michael Houdmann writes: If alien beings arrived and gave us an extraterrestrial explanation for life on earth, the origins of the world religions, and even the origins of our planet, it would be very persuasive. 9 Jesus said in Luke 18:8: However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth? (NIV) Could alien contact serve as the trigger-event for the sudden Great Apostasy spoken of in Scripture? And why such interest from the Vatican s scientists? According to Vatican insider Fr Balducci, the Holy See has long been following developments in this area. Then there is the consistent if somewhat cryptic testimony of Fr Malachi Martin referring on more than one occasion to an expected sign in the sky. In 2008 Tom Horn wrote: In 1997, while on Coast to Coast AM radio, Art Bell asked him why the Vatican was heavily invested in the study of deep space at Mt Graham Observatory in southeastern Arizona. As a retired professor of the Pontifical Biblical Institute, Father Martin was uniquely qualified to hold in secret, information pertaining to the Vatican's Advanced Technology Telescope (VATT) project at the Mount Graham International Observatory (MGIO). Martin's answer ignited a firestorm of interest among Christian and secular UFOlogists when he said, Because the mentality... amongst those who [are] at the... highest levels of Vatican administration and geopolitics, know that, now, knowledge of what's going on in space, and what's approaching us, could be of great import in the next five years, ten years. 10 So Vatican astronomers continue to search deep space.for among other things advanced alien intelligence. UFO s come up on their screens on a routine basis. And they are located on Mt Graham and cooperate to some degree with the University of Arizona s Large Binocular Telescope located right next door. The long technical acronym for that device is named L.U.C.I.F.E.R. 11 Perhaps appropriately! Next time we ll look a little deeper into the alien phenomenon. Just who might they really be?
POTPOURRI THE LATEST ON IRAN There are a few things we should know about the latest developments in the Iranian nuclear saga - regardless of what the new Geneva Accord on Iran s nuclear weapons may or may not allow. 1. Right now, Iran possesses enough enriched uranium to produce four nuclear weapons. 12 2. The former heads of both the CIA and its Israeli counterpart, Mossad, have come to the conclusion that Iran is now a nuclear threshold state. That means that they can assemble nuclear weapons in just a matter of weeks. Ex Mossad Chief General Amos Yadlin said: Iran is a step before breakout to a bomb. This is unfortunate but true. They can no longer be stopped. 13 3. By decree of and in the eyes of the United States the terror-supporting state of Iran has been elevated to the status of a world power. From DEBKA: President Barack Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry secretly agreed to elevate Iran to the status of seventh world power, as a strong inducement for signing the interim nuclear accord in Geneva Sunday, Nov. 24. never in their wildest dreams had the ayatollahs expected to be granted big power standing, with an authoritative role recognized by the six big powers for addressing issues in a broad region spanning the Persian Gulf, the Middle East and Western Asia, including Afghanistan. The governments in both Jerusalem and Riyadh Saudi Arabia are aghast and shaken at this latest development. 14 4. In response to Tehran s impending nuclear breakout and their marked increase in status the Saudis are negotiating with Pakistan to take delivery of nuclear weapons and missile delivery systems of their own. 15 CURIOUS THEOLOGY [And from some pretty solid sources!] We ll start with this. The alternative news site Before It s News ran a story on a pastor who received a medical RFID chip, boasted about it and encouraged his congregation to take the chip themselves. He was showing his hand and saying to the church: It s no big deal! The story then went on to a discussion of whether or not one can be saved after taking the mark of the beast. Now there s a passage in Revelation 14:9-11 that seems to be quite clear on the matter. It reads: Then a third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives his mark on his forehead or on his hand, he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out full strength into the cup of His indignation. He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name. But apparently the clarity of the language was not or perhaps did not apply to the thinking of two of the Church s luminaries. Both Jimmy DeYoung and John MacArthur declared that you can be saved after receiving the mark. But that s NOT what the passage above seems to say! 16 ABOMINATION IN THE LAND OF WESLEY This is happening in the UK, the Land that brought us The Common Book of Prayer, the Puritans and John & Charles Wesley. Now the owners of a Christian guesthouse were ordered to pay damages for turning away a gay couple. Though they claimed their decision was based on a religiously-informed judgment of conscience, and the guesthouse served as their family residence they were deemed in violation of the law. The Supreme Court determined: Sexual orientation is a core component of a person's identity which requires fulfilment through relationships with others of the same orientation. 17 Bovine Excrement! KIND-OF-A DAMASCUS ROAD THING - Kirsten Powers was a lot of things I m not. She is a FOX News commentator, very liberal and up until recently a confirmed atheist / agnostic. But then something changed. Jesus came to her in a dream. But we ll get to that later. From her early adult life, Kirsten was sure that she would never adhere to any religion especially to evangelical Christianity. After years of this she met a man who was her words now into Jesus. After a while he challenged her: Could she ever believe? No! Would she keep an open mind? She told him: I'm very open-minded! But added to herself: Even though I wasn't at all. I derided Christians as anti-intellectual bigots who were too weak to face the reality that there is no rhyme or reason to the world. I had found this man's church attendance an oddity to overlook, not a point in his favor. [But] What if this is true, and I'm not even willing to consider it? So she began to attend church with him and though repelled by some of the trappings she found the sermons compelling and intellectually rigorous. She had never heard a pastor speak like that before during the perfunctory church attendance of her youth. Each week, [Pastor] Keller made the case for Christianity. He also made the case against atheism and agnosticism. He expertly exposed the intellectual weaknesses of a purely secular worldview. I came to realize that even if Christianity wasn't the real thing, neither was atheism. Over time she came to realize that the evidence pointed to the Christian view; but still felt no connection to God.
But that was not the end of the story. One night Jesus came to her in a strange cross between a dream and reality. He said, Here I am! I was traumatized. Reluctantly she was talked into attending a Bible study. (She was afraid they would turn her into a Republican.) Of that first Bible study she wrote: I don't remember what was said that day. All I know is that when I left, everything had changed. I'll never forget standing outside that apartment on the Upper East Side and saying to myself, It's true. It's completely true. The world looked entirely different, like a veil had been lifted off it. I had not an iota of doubt. I was filled with indescribable joy. Yet she was horrified by this departure from her earlier views and fought it as best she could. But that turned out to be pointless. Everywhere I turned, there he was. Slowly there was less fear and more joy. The Hound of Heaven had pursued me and caught me whether I liked it or not. 18 And that is one Great Big Thing we have in common. Jesus pursued us changed us and made us His. It s the same for us all. Alleluia to the Lamb of God!!!! BROUGHT TO YOU BY: THE RELIGION OF PEACE Now this first incident was perpetrated by the guys that were (are?) our allies in Syria. Here s the story. Near the end of October, US supported rebel forces attacked and occupied the village of Sadad on the road to Damascus. Before they were tossed out by government troops they managed to commit the largest massacre of Christians in two-and-one-half years of fighting. CBN reported: Among other atrocities, 45 Christians including women and children were killed, several tortured to death; Sadat s 14 churches, some ancient, were ransacked and destroyed; the bodies of six people from one family, ranging from ages 16 to 90, were found at the bottom of a well. 19 While that was going on in Syria we have this report from Theodore Shoebat (on Walid Shoebat s site) on happenings in Upper Egypt. Muslims in a village of southern Minya province charged at Christian homes, and put 10 houses to the flames. They wounded 14 Christians, and the mob also took a 15 year-old girl and threw her down from the third floor of a building, injuring her severely. 20 And then there s Nigeria. Over 70 Christians have been murdered in a series of coordinated attacks by Fulani tribesmen and the Islamic jihadist organization Boko Haram. These types of actions have been typical in that country for some time now. But not to worry! The US has finally decided to do something about it. In the middle of November the State Department announced that it was designating the group a terrorist organization. [I ll bet they re really scared now. John Kerry doesn t like them anymore.] Still, it is a step in the right direction. And then there s the Pope. While warning of coming persecution coming to Christians in the End Times he stated that he believes that authentic Islam and the proper reading of the Quran are opposed to every form of violence. [You can be sure the families of those 70 plus victims are relieved about that.] As Pope Francis reminds us: We must never forget that they profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, who will judge humanity on the last day. 21 Now just to be accurate is a Christ-denying religion often operating as a death-cult. I m just saying! SIGNS OF THE TIMES BABY Here s a headline from the Australian International Business Times. 7 Volcanoes Erupt in 6 Countries Hours Apart. Countries affected included Japan, Mexico, Guatemala, Vanuatu, Indonesia and Italy; where Mt Etna put on a spectacular lights display, causing flight cancellations. 22 PROPPING UP THE BANKING ELITE We really must protect the uber-rich from themselves. It s only fair. Investment Watch reports that an audit of the Federal Reserve revealed that America provided $16 trillion in secret loans to bail out American and foreign banks during the Great Recession that began at the end of 2008. 23 ADVANTAGE RUSSIA The Russian Navy has developed a new submarine so quiet that it cannot be detected by American radar even when approaching the US coastline. One Russian nuclear sub sailed around in the Gulf of Mexico for several weeks without being detected back in 2012. 24 Could it have been the existence of this order of technical-military advantage that influenced President Obama to back down to the Russians and Chinese in the recent Syrian crisis? WHAT GLOBAL ECONOMIC CONTROL MIGHT LOOK LIKE A recent report by the International Monetary Fund recommends a capital levy on household assets of those with positive net wealth. This would target IRAs, 401Ks and other investments until the pre-crisis debt-levels of 2007 would be achieved. John DeMayo at Freedom Outpost writes that, The IMF is selling their plan as a tax on the well-off, not the middle class. 25 That s rank wealth re-distribution; the stuff favored by President Obama and Pope Francis alike.
