ORDER OF MORNING WORSHIP December 27, 2015 Men will never worship God with a sincere heart, or be roused to fear and obey Him with sufficient zeal, until they properly understand how much they are indebted to His mercy. - John Calvin MEDITATION Lord, You have been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were brought forth, Or ever You had formed the earth and the world, Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God. - Psalm 90:1-2,12 GREETING and ANNOUNCEMENTS CALL to WORSHIP HYMN #241 Thou Dost Reign on High PRAYER of INVOCATION The Biblical story is, quite simply, unique. In many cultures stories are told about dying and rising gods, stories which are clearly rooted in the universal experience of death and birth, but these stories make no claim to be actual history. They have no dates and places attached to them. They illustrate the unchanging human condition but make no claim to change it irreversibly. The biblical story is unique. What is unique about the Bible is the story of the incarnation, ministry, death and resurrection of the Son of God is history. God the Son became man to die for us to reconcile us to the Father. He is our peace and hope. Praise be to God. SONGS of PRAISE and WORSHIP (on screen) Come Thou Long Expected Jesus Rejoice CORPORATE CONFESSION of ASSURANCE What is your only comfort in life and in death? (HEIDELBERG CATECHISM - Question #1) That I am not my own, but belong body and soul, in life and in death to my faithful Savior Jesus Christ. He has fully paid for all my sins with His precious blood, and has set me free from the tyranny of the devil. He also watches over me in such a way that not a hair can fall from my head without the will of my Father in heaven: in fact, all things must work together for my salvation. Because I belong to Him, Christ, by His Holy Spirit, assures me of eternal life and makes me wholeheartedly willing and ready from now on to live for Him.

And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. - Matthew 6:9-13 The Christian is not someone who is so brave or thick-skinned that he can face the truth about himself unafraid; rather he is a sinner who can face his sin because he has confidence that God has forgiven him and accepted him in spite of it. The acceptance of God is the basis of self-worth. - Richard Keyes BENEDICTION Pastor Sean Whitenack
