Thirty-first Sunday in Ordinary Time ~ November 5, 2017 Page 2 From Father John Part of the merging of the three parishes of Blessed Sacrament, Our Lady of Peace, and Saint Christopher involves the creation of a new Parish Council and Finance Council for the newly-formed Saint Edmund Campion Parish. I contacted those who had been serving on these councils of their respective parishes and asked them if they wished to serve on one of the newly-formed councils. Based on the responses I received, I am pleased to announce who will form the new Parish and Finance Councils. They are as follows: PARISH COUNCIL Elected/Appointed Members: Lori Brunette Madeline Cassarino Pat Clark Sheila DeLaura Ernie Hutt Joan Magnano Richard Maska Jean Nowik Joan Perrone Denise Rioux Helen Roy Sally Ann Tanasi Anne Marie Volowski Sharon Young Ex officio members: Fr. John Gwozdz, Pastor Fr. Joseph Moonnanappallil, Parochial Vicar Deacon William Bartlett Deacon Philip Gosselin Marie Gallo-Garabedian, Trustee Henry Genga, Trustee Maria Sousa, Coordinator of Religious Education Peter Marra, Building & Grounds Stephen Roczynski, Building & Grounds Jim Sundin, Building & Grounds FINANCE COUNCIL Elected/Appointed Members: Stephen Bates Dominick Lombardi Frank Perrone Bob Sylvester Ex officio members: Fr. John Gwozdz, Pastor Fr. Joseph Moonnanappallil, Parochial Vicar Deacon William Bartlett Deacon Philip Gosselin Marie Gallo-Garabedian, Trustee Henry Genga, Trustee Dianne Rumsey, Accountant Ex officio members are those who serve because of the position they hold in the parish. To get things started, I have appointed each member to a one-year term. To begin a rotation of three-year terms, names will be drawn out of a hat to determine who will serve for one year, two years and three years. The first meeting of the Parish Council will be on Tuesday, November 14 at 7:00 p.m. in the Church Hall of the Saint Christopher Campus. The first meeting of the Finance Council will be announced at a later date. ANNUAL PARISH APPEAL Our Annual Parish Appeal is underway! Letters started going out this past week to all parish families on record. If you do not receive one during this coming week, please call the parish office at 860-568-5240. As you know, the money raised by this appeal is very important to the financial health of our parish family and will help us to keep our campuses in good order. To keep costs down, this mailing is managed by parish volunteers; and for them we are most grateful! Please pray for the success of this important effort.

While reading sacred scripture, read the words with a love and sense of discovery until something seems to strike home. Sit with the passage as one would with a good friend-not just thinking or analyzing, but instead remaining in a quiet, listening spirit, so the word can nurture and challenge you. Call to Prayer: Let us take a moment in the midst of all our activity to prepare ourselves for prayer. Excerpts from SNOW FALLING ON SNOW Copyright 2001 by Robert J. Wicks Used with permission of Paulist Press The Word of God: Choose one of next Sunday s readings. One person reads the scripture aloud as others are attentive to a word, phrase, or theme that is meaningful to them. Allow for a minute of silent reflection. Have another person read the same scripture a second time. Faith Sharing: Begin with an open ended question such as What strikes you from this reading? and/ or you can use the Reflection Question found below. Allow time for reflection & sharing. Reflection for Next Sunday, November 12, 2017 32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time Closing Prayer: At the end of the faith sharing, invite participants to pray aloud for any particular petitions or praises they may have. Feel free to close with: The Lord s Prayer or spontaneous prayers or a faith-based song. In the daily activities of our life, we can easily find excuses for not attending to our spiritual lives. In today s Gospel, Jesus reminds us that if we fail to give our spiritual life priority, we will find ourselves unprepared to receive Jesus. Daily prayer and spiritual practice keeps us ready to receive Jesus.
