recap On November 24th, the Cornerstone Church Choir and Orchestra were joined by some of the greatest talent you will see in America today for a night of Thanksgiving and praise to the King. Sandy Parker energized the crowd from the first note. The message of this very first song the love of God is greater than any place man has been, and closer than your dearest friend. The message behind Calvary s Cross is certainly something to celebrate each and every day. God s love is everlasting, and it endures to all generations. Pastor Matt emceed the event and reminded us that the Spirit of Thanksgiving unlocks God s power to move in our lives. When we thank Him (in good times and bad), He can take us to a place of total surrender where He can use us for His glory. Accompanied by the choir, Pastor Matt put this powerful message into song, I give You thanks! The fabulously-talented writing and singing duo that is Aaron and Amanda Crabb took the stage to share some of their chart-topping hits. Who is this King of Glory? and Somethin Bout the Name of Jesus reminded us that captives are set free and people are made whole in the precious name of Jesus. The praise team then joined Aaron and Amanda for a time of corporate singing. Hallelujah! The Lord God Almighty reigns! was the message of the day! How great is our God! The praises flowed from one song to the other as the Holy Spirit began to saturate the building, leaving many weeping in the presence that can only be found when you enter that very sacred place between you and God. Pastor Matt once again took the stage to remind us of a message we learned in the Bible from Hezekiah. God will destroy our enemies. When you are completely surrounded, and things look grim, this is the perfect time to pray and fast, to seek God s face. The battle belongs to the Lord! When Hezekiah looked out and saw that his enemies had been completely obliterated when there seemed no way to possibly gain the victory, he told his people, Oh magnify the Lord with me and let us exalt His name together. Praise is not a feeling; it s a fact. If this was a great year, give Him highest praise. If it was the most tragic year of your life, praise Him still. It is in these sweet moments of praise that God can completely reach down and infuse you with His peace, that He can transform your life and completely reveal Himself to you! The last song of the night brought the house down! Sandy Parker and Aaron Crabb were joined by the Cornerstone Choir to sing the most fantastic rendition of Kari Jobe s Revelation Song that you have ever heard. Even the angels were bending down in the balconies of heaven to listen to the sweet chords of praise as they made their way to the King of kings and Lord of lords! Lord, we praise you and we worship You. For YOU alone are worthy! Meal of the Month As a means to help the members and congregants of Cornerstone Church in a very real and tangible way, Pastor Hagee and Pastor Matt implemented a program aptly called Meal of the Month. On the final Sunday of each month, after the evening service, packages are distributed to those who have purchased a $20 voucher to pick up an entire meal fit for a king. This voucher is at a minimum discount of 40-50% of the retail value, and includes all the trimmings for a family dinner, to include dessert. In the month of November, the discount was very steep for our Cornerstone Community as a Thanksgiving Feast was supplied in each meal package: A large turkey, potatoes, stuffing, onion, celery and pumpkin pie. As Pastor Hagee says, It is a T.E.A.M. effort. Together Everyone Achieves More. God has richly blessed us and this is just one way Cornerstone Church is being used to bless the community. We thank God for making this possible, and pray that those who take these meals home with them are blessed beyond measure. 4 CORNERSTONE MAGAZINE DECEMBER 2013

By Karen Parks I like to think of the Body of Christ like a physical body like the Apostle Paul did. He said there are many parts to a body and each part has a different function. So it is with the body of Christ we are all parts of the Body and we each have something to do in the Body. Now think about your body and how it operates every part of your body works to help your whole body. One part isn t trying to do something apart from the whole body or go in a different direction than the rest of the body. Every part of the physical body is working for the good of the whole body. What a perfect picture for the Body of Christ and that s what Paul was trying to convey. When your body is healthy and at it s full potential you have strength and power to be your best at what you do. So what does that tell you about the Body of Christ? It seems to me we re not all going in the same direction we re not in unity and we re not praying for the same things. In Matthew Jesus taught the disciples to pray, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. (Matt. 6. 9-13) It s a simple prayer but it s what Jesus Himself said to pray. What if the WHOLE Body of Christ came in agreement and prayed this prayer every day? Father in heaven, we reverence You and glorify You. Father cause your kingdom, your will to be done on earth in our nation, in our government, in our schools, in our churches, in our families, in our lives, today Lord. Manifest Your will in the earth that s what we want Your will Your plans coming to pass. I don t think we realize the power in praying in agreement the power of unity. But it s time we did. Let s do it. Are you in? DECEMBER 2013 CORNERSTONE MAGAZINE 5

Mount of Olives on east Jerusalem, Israel. In ISRAEL John Sharp, the Chancellor of Texas A&M University, visited Cornerstone Church on Sunday morning, October 27th with an announcement that A&M is going to Israel! A personal friend of Pastor Hagee s for more than 20 years, John Sharp credits Pastor for really introducing him to Israel. In the past, they have worked together to reunite Russian Jews with their homeland. So when John Sharp wanted to find a way to take Texas A&M University to Israel, the first person that came to mind was Pastor Hagee. A year and a half ago, while sitting in Governor Perry s office, Sharp decided he wanted Texas A&M to have a presence in Israel. Together, Sharp and Perry decided that the best man to call for assistance was none other than our very own, beloved Pastor Hagee. You don t have to know him very long to understand the depth of his great love for Israel and the Jewish people. John Sharp placed a call to Pastor Hagee, letting him know that Texas A&M wanted to have some kind of presence in Israel. Would he be willing to help with this project? The answer was a resounding, Yes! By the end of that business day, the chief of staff for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the mayor of Jerusalem (along with several other dignitaries from Israel) had members of their staff call to ask where Sharp wanted to put the university. The wheels were quickly set into motion. Ron Dermer was a great help to them in the beginning, working under the Prime Minister at that time. Today he is the Israeli Amabassador and is still involved in the project, but was very instrumental in helping them bring this dream to fruition. And he started with a simple prayer, that Jehovah God would make a way. Why was this such a big deal? Universities pop up all over the United States every day! But in Israel, this is not the case. At the time that John Sharp started working with Mr. Dermer, the Knesset had a 35-year-old ban in place that made it against the law for any foreign universities to come to Israel. Dermer was praying in Israel, and Pastor Hagee and others were praying in the U.S. Sharp visited Israel and talked to the heads of every university in Israel, and God started to move. As Pastor Hagee always says, There are two parts to everything we do our part and God s part. John Sharp was doing his part, and God heard the prayers of those focused on taking Texas A&M to Israel. Another political election took place in Israel, and all of a sudden there was a new education minister and other newly-elected officials. The people who were against this project initially were no longer in office. John Sharp and his team were called to Israel and told, We know a lot about you folks. Clearly the Israeli team had completed their due diligence, making sure that this university would benefit God s chosen people. The Israeli team rattled off a very long list of incredible accomplishments achieved by Texas A&M to include: they are the largest research university in the southwestern U.S., the largest university in the state of Texas, their graduates have the third-highest starting salaries of any university in America, their graduates comprise the largest number of chief executive officers in the world. The team from Israel also learned that Texas A&M has the largest Catholic student body of any university in the United States and the largest Baptist student body as well. This highly-acclaimed school built the first campus Hillel in the U.S. (the largest Jewish campus organization in the world) to accommodate their Jewish students. In addition, more than 10,000 students organize and run a weekly on-campus Bible study for students of all faiths. Each week these students fill the basketball stadium to learn about God. In that divinely-appointed meeting, the Israeli team not only reviewed the many accolades of Texas A&M University, but they agreed to create a branch campus in Israel something that had not been allowed in more than three decades. They told Mr. Sharp, We want to change the law for one university in the world to come to Israel Texas A&M. They went on to describe in detail that they want Texas A&M to be a part of the peace process, and to be built in Nazareth, Jesus home town. The university will be structured so that the staff and students are made up of equal parts Jews and Arabs, and they are set on a course to begin building the foundation of peace in the Middle East. What once was an idea, a dream that seemed completely impossible, is now happening by the grace of God. This campus will be paid for by private donations from around the world, and will be the only foreign university allowed on Israeli soil. As John Sharp left the stage, he addressed the congregation and looked at Pastor Hagee. The reason it happened, and I promise you the governor of Texas will tell you the same thing, is because it began in this church with this pastor. And I thank him! Thank you very much! FEast of tabernacles/sukkot CELEBRATION Celebrating God s Blessings and Faithfulness Recap This year s Feast of Tabernacles celebration took place over the weekend of October 25th, and we were blessed to have an amazing line-up of speakers join us for the evening services. Every year God is so faithful to send anointed messengers that deliver a fresh and inspiring Word to the Church. On Friday evening, Dr. Creflo Dollar kicked off the weekend with a message of God s amazing goodness in our lives. Dr. Dollar is the founder and senior pastor of World Church International in College Park, GA which serves more than 20,000 members. He also oversees World Changers in New York with more than 6,000 members, as well as 250 churches across America. His goal is to change the world one person at a time, and his message was right on target for San Antonio and those who were blessed to hear him over the internet on getv.org. Dr. Dollar told us that, God isn t good to you because YOU are good; He is good to you because HE is good. You have to believe that you will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. You have to get this in your mind! Live this way through the victorious power of God s love, and claim the victory in Jesus name. Throughout the day on Saturday, the outdoor carnival continued with fun rides for the kids, ice cold drinks (because, this is Texas, after all) and delicious homemade treats. That evening, Pastor Paul Sheppard from California preached a message about God s limitless grace. He said, We are here because of God s grace and not because of our own works. Because of God s grace we are found and not lost, we are not bound by sin but set free. Amen! For whom the Son sets free, is free indeed! Just like Friday night, there was a grand display of fireworks that lit up the night sky. The sounds and colors could be seen and heard from miles around, prompting people to come and check out what was happening at Cornerstone Church. Our final day of the weekend was Sunday, and Pastor Hagee continued his sermon series, The God America Has Forgotten. This is a powerful series on the many reasons why we need to turn back to the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob as a nation and stop worshipping man s opinion over God s. As Pastor would say, If you don t have this sermon series get it! It will bless you! Continued on page 12 10 CORNERSTONE MAGAZINE DECEMBER 2013

Continued from page 11 That evening, dignitaries gathered from near and far for the 32nd Annual Night to Honor Israel. Though many well-known faces were members of the dais, the special guest speaker for the evening was Mike Huckabee. His message was one that targeted his friends in Washington D.C. Israel s boundaries were not set by the United Nations; they were set by Almighty God thousands of years ago. No nation will be able to prosper if they turn their backs on God s chosen [people]. Truth doesn t have to be politically correct to be true. God looks upon those favorably who look upon His people with favor. And indeed, Israel is today and will remain the apple of God s eye. To those who made this fantastic weekend a possibility, we thank you for your diligence and hard work. Your tireless efforts made this event an enormous success for the Kingdom of God. If you missed the Feast of Tabernacles celebration, mark it on your calendars for next October. We would love to have you join in the fun and be rejuvenated by the Holy Spiritinspired Word that is shared during each service. It is a great time of food, fun, family, faith and fellowship! Luis nino gonzalez - high school ministry The message of Jesus dying on a cross has circled the globe for thousands of years. The symbol of the cross has even become iconic in our western culture. We see it on t-shirts, on the back of people s vehicles and even around their necks. With that in mind, we recently taught a sermon series to our high school students on the significance of Jesus dying on the cross. Hebrews 2:14 says, Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death that is, the devil. The reality is the cross represents more than a style. It represents a supernatural victory. We learn, in the book of Hebrews, that Jesus broke the power of the devil on the cross. What an awesome thing to think about! The power of the devil over you and me was crushed when Jesus died on the cross. This is the good news to all generations. Each of us was set free so that we can have victory in this life and in the life to come. 1. The power of Sin: 1 Peter 2:24 says, He himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by His wounds you have been healed. When Jesus died on the cross He crushed the power that sin had over us. Jesus realized it was impossible for mankind to live righteously before a Holy God. He became our intercessor before God. His death was a plea for God s mercy and grace over our lives. Now we re not overcome by sin but can overcome sin because we re covered by the blood of Jesus! 2. The power of Death 1 Corinthians 15:57 says, But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ. The Bible tells us in Romans 6:23 the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God So what was crushed at the cross? is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. We deserved death due to our fallen nature. If it had not been for Jesus many would be eternally separated from God when they die. However, because of the work of Jesus at the cross we can have eternal life with God. We don t have to worry about death because one day we will be with God for eternity in Heaven. 3. The power of Separation Hebrews 10:19-22 says, Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Sin is what separates us from God. It makes us feel like we can t pursue Him. That s why Adam and Eve hid from God when they sinned against Him in Genesis. However, Hebrews 10 says we can draw near to God because our hearts have been cleansed from a guilty conscience. Jesus is the one who cleansed our hearts when He shed His blood on the cross. Now we don t have to run from God, but can run to God knowing He will receive us in Jesus name. Next time you see a cross, be encouraged to think of the work that happened at the cross. Every power that once held you down has been broken. Walk in the victory of the cross today and share the victory with those around you. Pastor Michael Fernandez - College & Career Ministry This topic is not exclusive to young adults only, but rather to the married and unmarried as well. God s master plan for sex is found in His Word, and we refuse to allow young adults to learn about this topic from magazines, T.V. shows, locker rooms and chat rooms where God s principles may not be present. When we honor God through our sexuality, we experience the fullness of His blessings - translation, the best sex ever! God s Word reveals the naked truth about sex and not the lies that Hollywood or porn cultures try to sell. There are many truths about sex found in God s Word, we will reveal at least three. TRUTH #1: God Created & Expects Sex To Take Place Genesis 1:28 NIV God blessed them and said to them, Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and birds in the sky and over every living creature. Genesis 9:1 Then God blessed Noah and his sons, saying to them, Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth. God is speaking to both Adam and Noah with the command to increase in number, which could not happen without having sex. These men of God were asked by God to help populate the earth. God wanted them to have sex. God is not going to ask us to do something that does not produce His blessing. As a matter of fact, if Adam had not had sex, he would have been disobeying God. So, sex is not bad or sinful, it becomes sinful only when we experience it outside of God s intended purpose and will. The entire chapter of Leviticus 18 is known for dealing with unlawful sexual relations which covers all the unacceptable manners that sex should not be experienced. We see that God commands His people not follow the ungodly sexual practices of the world. TRUTH #3: Bad Thoughts Lead To Bad Actions Matthew 15:17-19 Don t you see whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and then out of the body? But the things that come out of a person s mouth come from the heart, and these defile them. For out of the heart come evil thoughts-murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. The thoughts and images we entertain in our heart and mind will find their way to our hands and feet. We must protect and guard our purity and the Spirit of God within us. This shows us how important it is to listen and watch things with great caution because they feed our thoughts and heart. Our manner of dressing and speaking should be done with caution since it can also produce sexual triggers to some people. In conclusion, God s Word reveals the naked truth about sex. God created sex and wants us to experience it His way. The naked truth about sex is that there are boundaries that God has instituted for our safety and protection. God provides guidelines for us, not to limit us but to ensure His blessings. Furthermore, bad thoughts lead to bad actions. Our thoughts and minds are energy packs that lead to actions which must be guarded. TRUTH #2: Sex Has Boundaries Leviticus 18:1-2 The Lord said to Moses, Speak to the Israelites and say to them: I am the Lord your God. You must not do as they do in Egypt, where you used to live, and you must not do as they do in the land of Canaan, where I am bringing you. Do not follow their practices. In observance of national Fire Prevention Month, Firefighters from Station 51 visited Cornerstone Church s Mother s Day Out and Employee Daycare. The firefighters first gave a demonstration on how to stop, drop and roll and other things to do in their home if there is a fire. If there s smoke in your house, you should get out of your house as fast as you can, Firefighter Melchor Fernandez told the children. He also told them if they hear the smoke alarm beeping it means to, Get. Out. Now. The children took a tour of the fire trucks, witnessed the bucket ladder, extend as far as it could and handled the water hose. Everyone enjoyed this annual visit and having the opportunity to talk with the firefighters about fire trucks, fighting fires and fire safety. Before leaving, children were reminded firefighters are their friends and to not be afraid of the suits, masks and other gear they wear while working; not to open hot doors or hide from firefighters looking for them in a home fire and most importantly: stay low and go! Thank you, Station 51! Put on the full arm of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil s schemes. Ephesians 6:11 During the month of December the children will learn about the Full Armor of God and the importance of being on guard spiritually. Ephesians 6:11 says that we must be prepared as we go into battle, a spiritual battle. Without God s Armor and protection we do not stand a chance. God will empower us to fight the good fight and to make a stand against the devil. Our God will protect us. In Bible times soldiers would wear very heavy armor. Even the greatest of soldiers would never think of marching out to battle without his armor. If he did, he would surely be marching to his death. His chest, no matter how strong, could never stop a sword. His head, no matter how hard, could not withstand the blow of a club. His hands outstretched could never catch a flaming arrow. There would be no contest; he would lose very time. So it is with us spiritually. In our own strength, we could never match up against the schemes and attacks of the devil. He would win. No matter how strong or smart we are, we are no match for Satan. He would defeat us every time. Just as the soldier needs their armor to be strong physically, we need the Lord to give us strength to stand strong spiritually. The Lord is our strength. We must stand in His power and might to overcome the enemy. We are strong in the Lord. When the soldier gets dressed for battle he uses every bit of his armor. He did not go out with just his shoes and helmet, or his shield but no sword. He was at a disadvantage without the whole armor. Any piece he forgot to put on could cost him his life, or at least could get him hurt. The spiritual armor of the Lord works the same way. We need to put on the full Armor of God. Ministering to the spiritual needs of Children 1st 5th Grade Cornerstone Kids considers it a great honor to serve the children of our church. We take great care in presenting Jesus in a way that is fun and relevant for children. Every week we create an atmosphere where children: 1. Experience the Father s Love 2. Discover their identity in Christ 3. Demonstrate the love of God toward others Our mission implies movement. Children move from an experience (Salvation), to a discovery (Discipleship), to a demonstration (Service). Our Children s Ministry believes biblical discipleship is an ongoing process, and we strive to provide services, programs, and events that make that possible. We are blessed to offer these Sunday services and programs in the Life Center: Children s worship service at 8:30 am and 11:00 am Small group classes at 10:00 am Children s Choir available at 6:00 pm Bible activity program at 6:30 pm One2One Special Needs program during all services Dec. 8th Mighty God: The Gift of Strength Jesus is strong when you are weak Dec. 15th Everlasting Father: The Gift of Security Jesus will love you forever Dec. 22nd Prince of Peace: The Gift of Peace Jesus has everything under control A 4 week Chirstmas Series It is so easy to lose the meaning of Christmas. We tend to get lost in the wrong kind of presents or should we say-presence. We become so consumed with our own presents that we forget that Christmas is all about the presence of God. In fact, Immanuel means God with us. Jesus wants to be with us. He wants us to be in His presence. The book of Isaiah talks about Jesus being a Wonderful Counselor who offers us the gift of guidance. He is also call Mighty God who offers us the gift of strength. Another name for Jesus is Everlasting Father offering us the gift of security. And last, but not least, He is called Prince of Peace who offers us the gift of peace-something children need more than they realize. If we can focus more on the presence of Jesus, we truly discover what it means to have Christmas all year long! 20 CORNERSTONE MAGAZINE DECEMBER 2013

east of Tabernacles weekend concluded with our annual Night to Honor Israel Jr. This interactive service taught Cornerstone Kids the importance of loving and blessing Israel. In addition to fun Hebrew songs and dances, the children enjoyed some Jewish sweet bread called rugulah. It was beautiful to hear children pray for the peace of Jerusalem and for the children living in Israel. One of the highlights of the night was singing in Hebrew the Shema, the most fundamental Jewish prayer, the words of which are Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one! (Deut. 6:4). Each child received an American and an Israeli flag. We concluded the night by singing the American and Israeli National anthems and shouting, We stand with Israel! The next generation of Christians United for Israel is already taking a stand! DECEMBER 2013 CORNERSTONE MAGAZINE 21

The Fusion Middle School Ministry has been very busy these past few weeks. The crazy weather hasn t slowed us down one bit! Our team was featured on Great Day SA discussing the #wesayno campaign and the anti-bullying night held during our Wednesday night service. The Fusion Band was also able to perform during the guest spot, and those who tuned in were able to see just a small glimpse of some great things going on with the young people at Cornerstone Church. Our Wednesday night services have continued with lots of fun themes, games and worship. The #wesayno anti-bullying night was a blast with praise music, skits, student interviews, speakers, small group sessions and grand prize giveaways. John Hull and the Fusion Band kicked the night off with some anointed music followed by a skit performed by Impact Now. And the students were challenged during the sermon to stand up against bullying, to be the voice of reason and share the love of Christ with those around them that need it the most. We are called to be salt and light, no matter our age. We are supposed to make a difference in the world around us so that all can see the light and love of Jesus Christ in everything we say and do. Bullying is just the tip of the iceberg for what we are learning in the middle school youth services, but it is a great lesson for this (and any) age group. The Bible says whatsoever we do to these least of these, you have done it unto God the Father. So, think before you act. Make your words count. Great things are in store for this group, and we would love for you to join us! dr. jerry eshleman I remember once as a child we were renovating our home. My dad had gone to the front of our home and shut the water off to the whole house because he was doing some pretty heavy plumbing upgrades that day. I, of course, was dad s little helper and tool-runner. I distinctly remember this particular day because I was amazed when I saw the different kinds of water coming out of the same spigot. Initially, the water was rusty and dirty looking. This was because the pipes were about 60 years old and were worn out. However, after the pipes were replaced the water was crystal clear. It was two different types of water, but the same spigot. This little life lesson has stuck with me all these years. It helped me better understand how the idea of choice works in our lives. Choice is like the spigot. It opens and closes the same each time. There is nothing unique, spontaneous or innovative about what it does. It basically says on and off or yes and no. The spigot however contains nothing in itself. It merely passes along whatever it is hooked up to and when it does everyone will see. Choice is like this in all our lives. We make choices all day long. According to studies, the average person makes about 612 decisions a day. This equals to 4,900 decisions in a week and 254,800 in a year. So, is choice powerful or powerless? I submit that it depends entirely on what or more specifically who you are connected to. Deuteronomy 30:19 explains this point perfectly. It states, This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live. This verse encourages us fix our chooser on the source of life, not death. God desires an intimate relationship with each us. When we are in close proximity with Him, suddenly our choices begin to produce life because He is life. When our source is Christ, we begin to see life the way He see life. We begin to value the things He values. We begin to steer clear of those things that would seek to entangle us and bring us down. What fruit is coming forth in your home based on the choices you are making? Is your home a place of joy, peace and stability. Or is it unpredictable, filled with heartache, frustration and disappointment? What source is your chooser tied to? Have you asked God to give you wisdom and guidance or you looking to today s horoscope or advice from the afternoon talk shows? Maybe you have the mentality,...well it was good enough for me when I was kid, so it must be good enough for... My friend, none of these are THE proper source from which to draw choices. To steer through the maze and land mines of life we need, we must have the mind of Christ as our source from which we draw our choices. At Cornerstone Christian Schools we structure every day and every class around the idea of helping children make the right choices. The first step in this process is introducing them to THE right source. Your relationship with Christ as well as the relationship He has with every member of your family is EVERYTHING! So...what s flowing through your pipes today? Does it look like the 60 year old pipes I described above or is it fresh, clean and pure. Maybe you need to take a moment re-plumb your pipes and begin letting the right choices flow. DECEMBER 2013 CORNERSTONE MAGAZINE 23
