The Thrift Shop touches the lives of many in our community, making clothes, toys, and other treasures available to many on a limited budget. We invite you to be part of this foundational outreach ministry of Christ Church! Volunteers are needed for 2 1/2 hour shifts: 10am-12:30pm or 12:30pm 3pm on Tuesday through Saturday. The work isn t strenuous. It involves greeting and assisting customers, helping with sales, hanging clothing, straightening shelves you get the idea! CODE RED Code Red is a local non-profit that wants to end the silence surrounding menstrual health and sanitation, and empower women by providing them with sanitary resources. Donated feminine hygiene products will be taken to agencies that provide services for women who are homeless or in need. Look for the donation box in the breezeway. Thanks! NURSERY CARE HELPERS NEEDED ON SUNDAY MORNINGS If you are a teen, 14 years or older, and like babysitting and helping with young children, please be part of the Nursery Sunday Volunteer Ministry. MEN S GROUP FALL OYSTER ROAST, OCTOBER 23 The Men's Group Fall Get-Together is on Sunday, Oct. 23rd from 4 to 7pm for an outdoor fire pit oyster roast (with hot dogs for non -oyster lovers) at the home of Rick Waxweiler. Bring your fishing pole if you want to try your luck at some bream, bass or catfish. Please bring whatever adult beverages you wish to drink. Soft drinks will be provided. Feel free to bring a snack to share. Recommended attire: Dress for a mess! There will be a $10 charge to offset the cost of oysters. BROWN BAG PICNIC OCTOBER 23RD Celebrate the cooler weather and fellowship with a picnic following the 10:30 service on Sunday, October 23rd, which will take place in FRONT of the church, facing Holcomb Bridge Road. The ball fields are great for a round of soccer and the playground is always a hit. Please provide your own meal the fridge, stove and microwave in the kitchen are all available for use. In case of rain, the date will be November 6th. Stay tuned for GAME NIGHT: Board Games and Cards on Friday, November 11 at 6:30pm in the. This is great for all ages; and, what better way to get to know each other then a little friendly competition! No need to RSVP, just bring your favorite board game or deck of cards!

WORSHIP JOYFULLY! ALTAR FLOWERS FOR OCTOBER 9, 2016 The altar flowers for October 9, 2016, are given to the glory of God by Brook and Mizelle Sizemore in thanksgiving for their 3rd wedding anniversary on October 5th; and by Sara Jean Davies, in loving memory of her brother, The Rev. Charles Warden, on the occasion of his birthday. BLESSING OF ANIMALS, OCTOBER 9TH @ 5PM In celebration of St. Francis, you are invited to bring your pets either on a leash or carefully contained to have them blessed during the 5:00PM Celtic Eucharis service on Sunday, October 9th. Weather permitting, our service will be held in front of the church by Holcomb Bridge Rd. We will provide all things necessary for liturgy, or you are welcome to bring lawn chairs or blankets for additional comfort. Should we have inclement weather, the service will take place in the. YOUNGER WORSHIPPERS LITURGY OF THE WORD We have some additional liturgy options for our younger worshippers during the first part of the 10:30am service. FLORAL ARRANGING DEMONSTRATION SATURDAY, OCTOBER 15, 2016 Have you Ever Considered Joining the Christ Church Flower Guild? Come Join Us at A Floral Arranging Demonstration. On Saturday, October 15 from 11am 2pm, the Flower Guild is hosting a flower arranging demonstration for the Flower Guild and those who may be interested in joining. We will begin with a light lunch and conversation about the CCE Flower Guild and then Mandy Sanderford, a certified floral designer, instructor at Gwinnett Tech, and our sales contact at Kennicott Brothers Wholesale Florist, will conduct a flower arranging demonstration. CALLING INTERESTED SINGERS & INSTRUMENTALISTS The 10:30am worship service on the 2nd Sunday of each month will be more inclusive of our younger generations, including the music sung at these services. If you d like to join with the Parish Choir to sing on these Sundays, simply show up in the at 9:50am for a 30 minute run through of the more contemporary hymns and anthem. CHIMERS & CHORISTERS This year the Chorister and Chimers programs are combined into one offering for ages 6 to 18. Rehearsals are Wednesdays from 5:30pm to 7:00pm. We will also participate in 4 to 6 services through May, 2017. This is a great opportunity for children and youth to get both vocal and instrumental training, reinforcing music concepts in a variety of ways. For those interested in only singing OR chiming, singing rehearsal is from 5:30 to 6:15pm and chiming from 6:15 to 7:00pm. GROWING SPIRITUALLY! NEWCOMERS CLASSES If you are new to Christ Church or a returning visitor, we invite you to our next series of Newcomer classes. The final class will meet on Sunday, October 9th, in the Parlor, located behind the stained glass windows, at which time our Rector, The Rev. Ceci Duke, will discuss the history and traditions of the Episcopal Church, and it will give you an opportunity to meet with her in a small group setting. If you want to learn more about our parish offerings and programs, please plan to attend. We would like to get to know you better and answer any questions you have about Christ Church Episcopal. EPISCOPAL INQUIRER S CLASS Oct. 29, Nov. 5th, & Nov. 12th The Rev. Jody Greenwood will provide an Inquirer s class for those interested in gaining a deeper understanding of the Episcopal Tradition. We will gather from 9:00am until 11:00am in room 107 of the Education Wing on three Saturdays: October 29th, November 5th, and November 12th. Though not required, the class serves as preparation for Confirmation, Reception, and Reaffirmation of Faith celebrated at the Cathedral on December 11th at 4:00pm. Our school is in the town of Jasmin, in which homes and gardens have been destroyed. The most urgent need is for food and clean water. We are hosting our annual Halloween themed fundraiser on Oct. 29th, with a Zombie/Costume Walk through Norcross. The need is greater than ever for your support. Sat., Oct. 29th Registration @ 10am, ZOMBIE WALK @ 11am Varsity Food Truck lunch @ Noon. WHAT: Ask friends to support you and our Haiti school. Collect donations totaling at least $100.
