OUR LADY S MESSAGE To the World Given 25th August 2016 to Marija Pavlovic D ear children! Today I desire to share Heavenly joy with you. You, little children, open the door of your heart so that hope, peace and love, which only God gives, may grow in your heart. Little children, you are too bound to the earth and earthly things, that is why, Satan is rolling you like the wind rolls the waves of the sea. Therefore, may the chain of your life be prayer with the heart and Adoration of my Son Jesus. Give over your future to Him so that, in Him, you may be joy and an example with your lives to others. Thank you for having responded to my call. Fr. Martin Morris s Reflection Spiritual Director of Medjugorje Centre NE Dear Brothers and Sisters of Medjugorje North East and beyond, Let us begin this month's reflection by asking ourselves the question, "What is my true desire?" Deep down within our hearts what are we truly longing for, yearning for, hoping for? It is at this deep interior level that Mary Queen of Peace wants to touch and heal us.. The fulfilment of all desire is union with Jesus Christ. In him we discover all our answers, for he is our hope, our joy and our peace. Mary begins this month's message by reminding us that her desire is to share Heavenly Joy with us. This is why the Queen of Peace is coming to us, so that human hearts may change with a true desire for all that is beautiful, true and good. We need to ask ourselves, What are my true desires? To receive Heavenly Joy, means we too have to desire it, pray for it, long for it. Mary wants all of us to experience within us, Heavenly Joy, and this means asking the Holy Spirit to give us the desire for this spiritual gift. Do I desire Heaven? Mary wants to place a little bit of this desire within each of us, so let us humbly and confidently ask the Lord for this gift with perseverance. Mary shows us the first step to receiving Heavenly Joy. Open the door of your heart, so that hope, peace, and love, which only God can give, may grow in your heart. In the book of Revelation, Christ is depicted as knocking on the door of

the human heart. "Behold I stand at the door and knock, if anyone hears I shall enter in and sit with him." (Rev. 3.20) In his famous picture of this scene, Holman Hunt's, "Light of the World" the door has no handle on the outside, it can only be opened from within. So, too, Mary, calls us to, Open the door of your heart, to the Lord's merciful love. Let us reflect about the Holy Door of Mercy in our Cathedral. Have we devoutly entered through this way, yet? Christ is the door, the way, our hearts are invited to open to his blessing's. So that hope, peace, and love, which only God can give may grow in your heart. Open wide the doors for Christ, let the King of Glory enter. You are too bound to the earth and earthly things, that is why satan is rolling you, like the wind rolls the waves of the sea Sin places Christians on precarious ground. By its very nature, sin cuts a person off from the life of God and into the camp of the enemy. St. John says, Do not love the world, or what is in the world." (1 John. 2:15) "for the world with all its disorder is passing away. (1 John:17) St Paul reminds us to put on the spiritual protection against the devil's attacks, Grow strong in the Lord, with all the strength of his power. Put on all the amour of God, so as to be able to resist the devil's tactics. For it is not human enemies that we have to contend with, but against the powers of darkness, in this world, the spirit of evil." (Ephesians: 6:10-13) Let us remember that her enemy is our enemy and Mary has shown us the remedy of overcoming evil and sin with the five stones against our Goliath: Holy Mass, Confession, Rosary, Fasting, Holy Scriptures. With these Spiritual powers we can entrust our futures to Jesus, full of confidence in his merciful love, and providence. God Bless, Fr. Martin Fr Martin Morris was offered a fond farewell by his Parishioners of St. Aloysius and St. James, Hebburn. We continue to pray for Fr. Martin as he continues his vocation as Parish Priest of St.Teresa and the Child Jesus, Heaton Road, Newcastle upon Tyne. We thank Fr. Martin for his continuing commitment as spiritual director of Medjugorje Centre N.E. May Our Blessed Mother Queen of Peace enfold her sons, our chosen Shepherds, in her mantle of Love & Protection

MY HEART WILL TRIUMPH Autobiography By Mirjana Soldo Afraid of what I might see, I slowly turned and looked up at the hill. In that moment, I struggled to process what I saw, and my heart whirled with fear and wonder. No one ever climbed that hill, but what I saw was unmistakable there, among the rocks and brambles, was a young woman. -Mirjana, from MY HEART WILL TRIUMPH Available from Amazon - www.amazon.co.uk Our Lady s message to Mirjana 2nd August 2016 Dear children! I have come to you - among you - for you to give me your concerns so that I may offer them to my Son; that I may intercede for you before Him for your good. I know that each of you has his concerns, his trials. Therefore I am inviting you in a motherly way: come to the table of my Son. He is breaking bread for you; He is giving Himself to you; He is giving you hope; He is asking for more faith, hope and serenity from you. He is seeking of you to battle within against egoism, judgement and human weaknesses. Therefore, as a mother, I am saying: pray; because prayer gives you strength for the interior battle. My Son, when He was little, often said to me that there will be many who will love me and call me 'mother'. Among you, I feel love. Thank you. For the sake of that love I am imploring my Son that none of you, my children, will return home the same as he came; that you may take with you all the more hope, mercy and love; that you may be my apostles of love who will witness with their lives that the Heavenly Father is the source of life and not of death. Dear children, anew, in a motherly way I am imploring you, pray for the chosen ones of my Son, for their blessed hands - for your shepherds - that they may preach my Son with all the more love and in this way bring about conversions. Thank you.

Medjugorje, 15 August 2016, Assumption of the Holy Mother of God Dear Children of Medjugorje, Praised be Jesus and Mary! 5 REPORT FROM SISTER EMMANUEL of The Community of The Beatitudes www.childrenofmedjugorje.com 1. On 2 August 2016, Mirjana received her monthly apparition at the Blue Cross, in the presence of a large crowd of young people who came for the Youth Festival. After the apparition, she conveyed the message.( see page 4 ) 2. The Youth Festival was beautiful. With the World Youth Day being in Poland, we expected there to be fewer young people than there were, but we were pleasantly surprised by their number, barely less than last year. 70 countries were represented on the 1st day, and over 400 priests were present at the altar (instead of 500 last year). We made a short five-minute video of the highlights available at: https://www.youtube.com/watch? v=npscogbo5pk 3. Franciscans In the Province of Herzegovina, it is common for Franciscan priests to be moved around to different countries. With great regret we have to say goodbye to Father Boris, who was in charge of the French-speaking pilgrims! We are pleased that the pastor, Father Marinko Sakota, will be staying! He has transformed the parish and he knows how to deal with the crowds of pilgrims speaking different languages, from all cultures and traditions. May Our Lady keep him with us for a long time! Many people have asked us for news of Father Jozo Zovko. He is still with the Franciscans in Zagreb, Croatia. But during the summer, his Community asked him to restore a former monastery in ruins on the island of Badija, the aim being to restore the monastery's former spiritual influence. Despite his fatigue, his health is still good at the age of 75. Let us continue to pray for him! Who knows what the Lord is preparing him for in the future? 4. The Blessed Mother constantly stresses the need to pray as a family! On the evening of August 12th, surrounded by many pilgrims on the mountain, Ivan received this message: "Dear children, today I invite you once again to persevere in

prayer. Pray, dear children, and above all persevere in praying as a family. Today I pray with you for the family. I desire holiness in families, for there to be more holy families who pray and live the words of my Son, as well as the messages that I give you..." priests involved during their annual retreat at Tiberias. He also visited 80 Catholic parishes. The bishops were pleased and gave the green light for Vicka to come. Charbel's team had prepared a piece of land for the arrival of 18,000 people. The preparation alone cost 140,000 euros, and they did not have one cent. But Providence took care of them, as is the case for all those who "seek first the Kingdom of God and its righteousness!" 5. A major event, not widely known... 2013 Vicka in the Holy Land! Over the years, Vicka has travelled 8 times to Israel, but privately, with Italian families. Then the Mother of God made her understand that the time had come to convey her messages to her people. So Vicka made her 9th pilgrimage in August 2013. Charbel Maroun, a young 27- year-old Catholic Israeli Arab, organized the trip. (In Galilee particularly, there are many Catholics born in Israel, who speak perfect Hebrew and Arabic, and often another language). In the Holy Land, there are at least 7 Catholic and Orthodox rites. Wanting to do everything in agreement with the Authorities, both religious and civilian, Charbel had already obtained permission from the Patriarch of Jerusalem and all the bishops. To inform them about Medjugorje, he gave talks to the bishops and the 40 However, suddenly on August 17, two days before flying to Tel Aviv, Vicka had to undergo surgery in Zagreb for her back, and the doctors prescribed complete rest. When Charbel heard this news, he was overcome with shock! After all these costly preparations, everything had collapsed. But the Gospa had her plan: that very evening, during the apparition, she said to Vicka: "Arise and go to my people!" On August 19, Vicka flew to Israel. However, the civil authorities did not authorize her to land in Tel Aviv, and the entire plane with her. It was therefore necessary to very quickly organize another solution. The

aircraft was forced to land in Jordan. They had prepared a special car for Vicka, like a "Pope mobile", with the flag of the Vatican. And that is how she arrived in Nazareth. The reception was amazing! The crowd was larger than when the Pope visited! 18,000 people. Among them was an impressive number of Muslims. The State of Israel feared a terrorist attack, so 400 Israeli soldiers were dispatched for the protection of Vicka. As a result, all these soldiers heard the words of Vicka and the messages of Our Lady. When Vicka walked past their ranks, as they sought her blessing, she stopped for a long time to bless them, 2 by 2, as usual, thus delaying the entire program... In living memory, this was the largest Marian gathering ever seen in Israel. The Israeli Police were amazed to witness the order and peace prevailing among the people. They said they had not seen such a thing before. On August 20, Our Lady appeared in the cave of Nazareth. She told Vicka many things about the childhood of Jesus in this house and she expressed her joy to "be back home". But she was anxious seeing the situation of the churches in Galilee. Easy to understand why. Satan had done everything to prevent the meeting. On the eve of this day, August 19, two missiles fell on the northern part of Israel and destroyed many houses. The same day, another missile fell close to Nazareth. These events generated a great deal of fear among the Israeli soldiers who said that they would no longer be able to protect Vicka and the crowd. The Police as a result wanted to block the meeting. But the believers wouldn't give up, and refused to give in to fear. The meeting was able to take place in peace. On August 21, during the apparition in Nazareth, Syria was attacked with chemical weapons, which resulted in 1400 deaths. This was the 1st chemical attack since World War II. Vicka did not know about this. However, she was surprised by an unusual occurrence during the apparition: Our Lady turned her back, and placing herself in the direction of Syria and Lebanon, she blessed these two countries, one after the other. Let us remember this period where the situation was critical. We were on the verge of a third world war! It seems that the Mother of God, through this blessing, prevented the war. A few weeks later, on 7 September, Pope Francis issued his call for a day of prayer and fasting. When Our Lady appeared in Jerusalem, there was an incredible deployment of security. There, after having blessed the Patriarch, the bishops, the priests and the people, Our Lady said a single sentence: "The heart of the Church is sick." On August 25th, in Bethlehem, 10,000 people were waiting for Vicka

to arrive, including the Patriarch, the bishops, and a large number of priests and nuns. The Patriarch dedicated the country to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Addressing the Blessed Mother in his homily, he said: "2000 years ago, the people of Bethlehem did not want you. But today, we say to you: "We welcome you! You are most welcome!" In response to this welcome, Our Lady said during the apparition: "I will never forsake you. I am here, do not be afraid!" In those days, the Marian movement of the Apostles of Divine Mercy was born. The goal of its members is to represent the Virgin of Medjugorje in the Holy Land. Today, over 3 years later, 1500 people gather each month to pray together. Among them, there are many young people and students. Their impact is remarkable: reformation of the faith in families, baptism of many Muslims, Hebrew prayer groups, street evangelization, etc. In Tel Aviv they show active charity toward the most abandoned Jews. Vicka's coming was an act of prophetic significance, and we have not finished seeing its fruits in the Middle East! Dearest Gospa, like the people of Bethlehem, we in turn say to you, "You are most welcome in our lives! Please, help us never reject you and your motherly instructions!" Sister Emmanuel Canonization of Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta Sunday 4 th September 2016 http://en.radiovaticana.va/ (Vatican Radio) Tens of thousands of faithful are expected to turn out for the canonization Sunday 4th September of Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta. In the Autumn last year Emily Aldridge, aged 22 from South Wales shared with our Readers her Testimony 'Medjugorje made my blue eyes finally shine'. Emily has recently returned from a three-month pilgrimage to Medjugorje and in this Year of Mercy shares with us her own personal testimony about Confession The Sacrament of Reconciliation. Go to Confession. Unburden yourselves of all sin. In return, I will give you peace in your hearts. Our Lady of Medjugorje on the 28 th February 1988. I have just returned from my fourth pilgrimage to Medjugorje, serving three months as a volunteer. It was during this time that I felt a very gentle and silent nudge within me that Our Lady 9 Confessions of a Medjugorje Pilgrim. By Emily from South Wales wanted me to make a General Confession. A General Confession calls us to stop and to really look deeply into ourselves and into our lives. It is a time for us to call on the power of the Holy Spirit to help us to prayerfully and carefully search as far back into our past as we can remember and to reflect on all the ways in which we have offended God, our neighbour and ourselves by sinning against the Ten Commandments, The Beatitudes and The Precepts of the Catholic Church. It is a time for us to re-visit Go to Confession (28th Feb,1988) our own painful and often unwanted memories and to finally admit to any of our heavy and unconfessed sins and to verbalise, face them and overcome them within a very safe environment in the presence of a Catholic Priest. It is therefore a liberating time of deep and inner healing from the Lord and it calls us to truly forgive others and ourselves and to receive Absolution from God the Father of Mercy. It is also an incredibly powerful weapon against satan as it enables us to break absolutely everything within us that he is attached to, he then has nothing left to hold on to. Making a general confession is a slow, unrushed and prayerful time which can take several hours. It is not a time of scrupulous selfcondemnation or a time to re-confess already forgiven sins. My personal experience was actually lifechanging and I thus encourage all Catholic Christians to unburden themselves to the Lord in this way. My own personal desire to make a general confession came at a time in my life when I was seriously discerning the call to Religious Life. Wanting to belong all and only to Jesus, I knew that I had to first let go of everything that was preventing me from giving my whole self to Him. A general confession is therefore both incredibly useful and encouraged when one is about to make a life

changing decision in their faith to draw closer to Jesus and to enter into a much deeper union with Him. It was not at all surprising for me that this call came during a time that I was actually living in Medjugorje - the confessional capital of the world - and so I asked the Lord to send me His priest with whom He wanted me to confess. Within one month, I met a Franciscan Friar of the Holy Spirit (Emily) from Arizona who agreed to hear my general confession and to pray for the healing of my heart. As we commenced the celebration of this Sacrament, he firstly anointed me with healing oil that had been blessed by both Pope Francis and Pope Benedict and together, we prayed a prayer of protection. The Holy Spirit then gave me all the words I needed to say and all the memories I needed to recall, therefore verbalising everything actually felt very easy. The priest then laid his hands on me and prayed in Jesus name to break the attachment to all the evils I had turned to or been affected by in my whole life. During this time he said that his hands became so hot that he almost wanted to remove them from my head. Following this, he both led me in prayer and asked me to use my own words to renounce each individual evil by saying In Jesus name, I renounce. and then to forgive all of those who had sinned against me as well as to forgive myself all in Jesus name. Then Father asked me to start to slowly and deeply breathe out all of the darkness 10 I was discerning the call to religious life and to breathe in the peace of Christ. This was all an incredibly real and liberating experience and when I received Absolution, I was completely encapsulated by the awesomeness of God s power, mercy, strength, forgiveness, presence, peace, goodness and love. The day that I made this confession was the day that Our Lady had told the visionary Jakov that it was Her actual birthday. So, I decided that my birthday gift to Her would be the complete unburdening of myself to Her Merciful Son. A few days later was my 22 nd birthday which was actually the same day that the priest who had heard my confession was returning home to America. He felt that this reality was very fitting and remarked on how I was a new person now at the beginning of a new year and a new start to my life. For the rest of that day and in the days that followed, I felt a deep presence of Jesus in the Eucharist, in prayer, in others, in nature and simply in everything. On the evening of my birthday, I was blessed to go to an Apparition of Our Lady to the visionary Mirjana. During this time, I felt a beautiful warmth all around me and I felt an incredible, deep sense of peace within me. Whilst my birthday gift to Our Lady was to unburden myself of everything that wasn t of Her Son, Her birthday gift to me was to fill me with everything that is of Her Son.

So for all of you who may feel anxious at the thought of going to confession no matter what your life has been those who no longer practice their faith and who haven t been to confession even since the day you first received the Sacrament, rest assured that God actually invites and welcomes you to confess. Jesus knows more about us than we could ever know ourselves. There is absolutely nothing that the priest will not have heard before, so there is no need at all for any embarrassment, fear or shame. Be reassured that God is love and mercy itself and that Jesus will forgive and forget all of our sins if we are truly sorry. Place your hands into the hand of Jesus the Wounded Healer and Mary the Mother of Mercy and permit them to guide you out of the darkness. Know that Jesus is the light of life and that if we unburden ourselves, we can truly feel His peace which all of us crave and need. So in this Jubilee Year of Mercy, whoever you are, wherever you are, whatever your past and whenever you last received the sacrament of confession, be comforted by the words of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ as He says: Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give rest (Matt 11:28,) (Emily) GENERAL CONFESSION The term most commonly means a private confession where the penitent (exceptionally) resolves to confess as far as he or she can all past sins, and not only those since the last confession. General Confession, not be confused with General Absolution. The Confessional of the World ( www.medjugorje.org ) Medjugorje has been called the confessional of the world. But according to author and Medjugorje guide, Draga Vidovic, it was not that way before the apparitions. Draga wrote in her book, Salvation of Mankind, that many Catholics did not practice their faith for many years because they were afraid of losing their pensions and benefits if the communists found out. When the apparitions started, people began to change and come back to Confession, some after a 40-year absence. Draga wrote, Confessions sometimes used to last until midnight, and some highranking officers of the Yugoslavian Army were also coming for Confession, admitting that last time they confessed was before World War II. She explained that even junior officers had to deny God to remain in the Army. All of a sudden, those people who had closed the doors of their hearts many years before, were now in Medjugorje, anxious to be relieved of their burdens and sins, but mostly of their atheistic way of life. Draga recounted a well-known story about an apparition in which Our Lady invited people to touch Her. Marija noticed that Our Lady s dress was getting dirty and, in an apparition the next day, Our Lady said, Those stains represent the sins that have never been confessed. They understood this to be an invitation to go to Confession. An interesting detail of this story was that the visionaries were unable to remember

any of the persons who had soiled Our Lady s dress. Draga wrote, Our Lady did not come to us to embarrass or humiliate us. That remained a secret that only Heaven knows. Draga added that the place where Our Lady appeared that evening was significant, since it was the place where wheat was winnowed, grains from the weed good parts from bad parts. The date was also significant August 2, the Feast of Our Lady of the Angels, also known as Forgiveness of St. Francis of Assisi. A message to Medjugorje from Cardinal Schönborn Friday, August 05, 2016 ( www.crownofstars.blogspot ) Once again, Cardinal Christoph Schönborn has sent a message of encouragement to the youth and families gathered at Medjugorje for the annual International Youth Festival, celebrating its 27th year. Everything that burdens you, everything that hurts you, all those falls and omissions, all of your successes and everything that brings you joy: NOTHING can separate us from Christ's love that is beyond all senses. Please think about this: Jesus really loves YOU! He knows and understands YOU! He forgives YOU and takes YOU strongly into His embrace. Dear young brothers and sisters! After wonderful days spent at the World Youth Day with Pope Francis in Krakow, it is my joy to send to you in Medjugorje my special regards! You again gathered in such great number and answered Gospa's call and you are prepared to allow Her to lead you again to Jesus. Gospa is your mother and She is watching over you! May these days be blessed for you! Please pray for our dear Pope Francis! Yours, Cardinal Schönborn In this holy Year of Mercy, you can bring all to Her and Her Son.

President of Republic of Croatia came to Medjugorje on a pilgrimage (www.medjugorje.hr) 14.08.2016 The President of Republic of Croatia, Kolinda Grabar Kitarović, came to Medjugorje on a private visit when she also visited other towns in Herzegovina. During her three-days stay in Medjugorje, she visited places of prayer, church of St. James and Hill of apparitions of the Queen of Peace. She also met with Franciscans who are serving in this parish and she found time to give brief interview to the radio station Mir, Medjugorje. The President Grabar Kitarović thanked Herzegovina for warm welcome and this is what she said about her impressions of Medjugorje: All of this leaves profound impression on me. I ve been coming to Medjugorje since the 80 s, when I came with my mom for the first time, and ever since that time, I was able to feel deep spirituality of this place and the presence of what we believe in our faith. Sometimes we all have need to come again here and to be recharged at the spiritual well that keeps us positive and optimistic, gives us faith in ourselves, in our people. I certainly need that to be able to obtain this huge responsibility as the president of the country. That burden is big, but also there is joy of living and serving to our homeland, especially when we can do that with such love, openness and constant interaction with people. Mountain Rescue Service Čitluk - Međjugorje (www.medjugorje.hr) 28.07.2016 Places of pilgrimages gather huge number of people throughout the year from all over the world. During such big gatherings, it is normal for the accidence to occur and there we have important role of different services, very often publicly not noticed, but so present, whose goal is to save human lives. Mountain Rescue Service is one of many who contribute to that. Herzegovinian Mountain Rescue Service Citluk Medjugorje operates since 2013, and they have 36 members at the moment. Head of this Service, Zarko Pehar, in his interview for radio Mir Medjugorje said that 5 new members came to join them recently. I would like to use this opportunity to invite young people to join us. Firstly, they should come to one of our meetings held in the headquarters of our Service. We never thought we would have this many members as we began with 25 members of our team. We developed to be one of the leading Rescue Services in this region and we have few stations that come and help us when necessary. We have many rescue actions and we need to improve our services as much as possible, said Mr. Pehar. Mountain Rescue Service Čitluk- Međugorje were involved during the 27th Youth Festival: Our team had shifts during this week too and our members choose available days, depending of their job and private obligations. The last day, when Holy Mass was celebrated on the top of Cross Mountain, we had help from the Mountain Rescue Service Mostar and we are the last ones to go down the mountain, to make sure all goes well.
