This year s Methodist House is scheduled to begin construction on September 13. It will be built in the Methodist supported neighborhood of Carver Heights East. The Methodist Church will be partnering with the Diarrassouba Family. Vakantie and Mariam Diarrassouba came to the United States from the Ivory Coast looking to escape the poverty in their home country. My dream is to get a house where the mortgage will not be expensive in order to raise my children. Vakantie Diarrassouba Thank you to the Methodist Church for your partnership in the project as well as in the Carver Heights East neighborhood. This Summer Jr. High students from FUMC Mansfield spent their missions week completing a refresher project in the neighborhood. They painted a church and a home, completed landscaping projects as well as built picnic tables for the park. The interest that the Methodist Church as a whole has taken in this neighborhood is sure to make a difference to the residents. From funding homes, to building picnic tables, to painting, a lasting change has started to redirect the path and shape of this East Fort Worth Community. You have taken the Trinity Habitat vision for Carver Heights East and made it your own and for that we are ALL eternally grateful. Cheers, Lauren Calzada Development Team
ZIKA IN TEXAS Currently, there is no vaccine or treatment for the Zika virus once it is contracted. While being bitten by an infected mosquito is the most common way to contract Zika, the virus can also be spread from mother to child during pregnancy, via blood transfusions and through sexual contact. Since Zika is primarily spread via mosquito bites, your best protection to avoid infection is to prevent mosquito breeding and protect yourself from mosquito bites. Please go HERE to read more...
