February 15, 2017 Adams Lutheran Church Congregation Dear Valued Member / Members During our recent annual meeting on January 29, 2017, it was voted on and agreed to go forward with a new Decra metal (look of shingles but metal) roof for our church. We have the funds to pay for the new roof if we install it over the existing roof. However, we have several members of the congregation that would like to see the old roof torn off prior to installing the new one. The additional cost for doing this would be about $20,000 and we do not have the funds to cover it. To our pleasant surprise, we have a family who has pledged a $10,000 donation toward the tear off of the old roof but only if the remaining members of the congregation can match it. Because we are hoping to take advantage of this $10,000 matching contribution, we are compelled to approach you, our valued members of the congregation for financial assistance for this very important and badly needed maintenance requirement for our church building. Can we count on your pledge by March 19 (Pancake Breakfast Sunday)? We do not need the payment right away, but most importantly your pledge. On behalf of the Church Building & Roof Committee, Cory DeSmet, Larry Klosterman & myself, Thank You & God Bless Steve Anderson Note: Please enclose your pledge amount or check in this self-addressed envelope to Cory DeSmet. You may also email your pledge amount to Cory DeSmet at rustywire03@gmail.com.

A huge thank you to the existing members of our Council: Bill Barnes, Beth Anderson and Cory DeSmet. Your time on council was very much appreciated!! Please Welcome our new members to Adams Church Council! Amy Dammen, Larry Hendrickson, Melissa Flannery. Thank you to the remaining members of the council, your service to our church is greatly appreciated! If you would like to contact a council member we now have an email address for our council! I liked the cross-section of workshops...for personal enrichment to the work of the church, for the well-being of all. I learned so much valuable information that I could take back to our church and share with our committees. It was very insightful. The idea of partnering with other congregations to help bridge the race/class divide was great. Space for displays was excellent and really encouraged engagement. Great!

MONROE AREA COMMUNITY CLOSET (M.A.C.C.) UPDATE Dear Community Members, The Green County Leaders and the Church of the Nazarene have partnered with me to bring a new outreach program to the Green County area. A new clothing ministry has been formed and is currently under construction. The mission of the Monroe Area Community Closet or M.A.C.C. is "caring through clothing" and the vision is "uniting a community for those in need". The Monroe Area Community Closet will be located in the Church of the Nazarene, located at W5951 Patina Lane in Monroe. This is a program designed in much the same way as the Brodhead Community Clothes Closet and will be available to anyone in Green County and surrounding areas. This is a free service that anyone can take advantage of and is dependent upon donations from individuals and organizations in the community. Our goal is to have clothing items available for all ages as well some personal hygiene products. This is a need that has been identified throughout Green County and currently, one other community closet exists, which is in Brodhead. By expanding the service area, our hope is to reach as many people as possible that need this assistance. Our facility will be handicapped accessible and will operate on Monday s (with the exception of holiday s) between the hours of 3 pm and 7 pm. We are also looking for volunteers to help staff the community closet when we re open. We hope you will consider the Monroe Area Community Closet when looking for new ways to become involved in the community. You can visit our site at volunteergreencounty.org and you can like us on facebook at Monroe Area Community Closet. (M.A.C.C.). We will begin accepting donations of good condition clothing on Monday March 13, 2017 and again Monday, March 20, 2017 at the Monroe Church of the Nazarene between 3 pm 7 pm. Our first day of operation is scheduled to be March 27th from 3 pm-7 pm. Donations will continue to be accepted any Monday during regular operating hours. We are still in need of plastic tube hangers. Hangers can be dropped off at Edelweiss Gifts on the Square or at Dunkin Donuts in Monroe. Dunkin Donuts is offering a discount on your purchase when you donate hangers to M.A.C.C. To help us offset the cost of set up and operation we welcome your financial support. We have expenses with remodeling, fixtures, shelving and other equipment. Donations may be made through "Green County Leader s/m.a.c.c." at the UW Extension Office of Green County located in the Justice Center in Monroe or to "M.A.C.C. / Church of the Nazarene" W5951 Patina Lane; Monroe, WI. Your donations are tax deductible. Special thanks to Green County Leader's; Church of the Nazarene, Monroe; Edelweiss Gifts; Dunkin Donuts and the community for sharing my vision with me. We look forward to meeting you, Rick Gleason mrcofgc@gmail.com 608-558-0925 Women of the ELCA Tenth Triennial Gathering will be held July 13-16, 2017 Minneapolis Convention Ctr.
