These meetings will focus on R&R updates only. Called Business Meetings for R&R Updates Our church is having Called Business Meetings every other Wednesday night. Woman s Missionary Focus Sunday WMU Emphasis for 2014-2016: All for You - Surrender, Sacrifice, Serve WMU Overarching Focus: In 2014-2016, WMU will lead Christ followers to surrender completely by denying self; sacrifice willingly by taking up their cross; serve intentionally by following Christ into their community, state and world. Scripture Passage: Mark 8:31-38 (NIV) WMU Watchword: Then He called the crowd to Him along with His disciples and said: Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. - Mark 8:34 (NIV) In Mark 8:34, Jesus used three verbs to describe the action He desired: deny, take up, and follow. These three words are synonyms for the action words used in the WMU emphasis: All for You: Surrender, Sacrifice, Serve. SURRENDERING to God s plan is a statement that we will not live for self. We will live for Him and what He needs us to do to promote His Kingdom. God s plan may mean SACRIFICING our current career to serve in a third world country; sacrificing the comforts of home by going to the outback of a foreign country where electricity and clean running water can be limited. SERVING others comes naturally to some but to others it can be difficult. Serving others simply put, is serving Christ. Now that we know what Jesus desires from us, how do you stack up? Something for all of us to think about. To learn more about missions and serving others, please consider joining WMU at Pine Level Missionary Baptist Church. Your heart will be full and the feeling of jumping with both feet in and serving others will be gratifying. Your child can also benefit by being a member of Mission Friends and Children in Action! We are here to learn about missions and serve when needed! Let us know how we can get you connected. RESPONSIVE READING LEADER: Lord, you call us to surrender both heart and life. You ask us to surrender our hearts, for You cannot work with hearts that deny You. You ask us to deny the self that stands in Your way. You ask us to leave behind the old and take up the new. You call us to surrender completely. AUDIENCE: We surrender our hearts and self completely to You, Lord. Take them. Mold them. Shape them as You desire. LEADER: Lord, You call us to surrender our will and our ways. You remind us that nothing we have is ours. All of it belongs to You. AUDIENCE: We surrender all that we have to You--our actions, our thoughts, our words, and our resources. We want to be your disciples. LEADER: Lord, You call us to sacrifice willingly. You will accept nothing less. Your sacrifice of self brought us new life. Your life in us becomes our joy. AUDIENCE: We sacrifice willingly. LEADER: Lord, You call us to serve intentionally. You call us to serve You in all places near and far, in the familiar and the unfamiliar, the peaceful places and those filled with unrest and full of trouble. AUDIENCE: We will follow You to the people and the places where You send us. We will take up our cross and follow You. LEADER: Jesus says, I require nothing but all of you. AUDIENCE: We surrender completely. We sacrifice willingly. We serve intentionally. We give our ALL FOR YOU. By Sheryl Churchill Buckner, retired after serving 37 years as a WMU staff member LEADER: In sacrificing, we are meant to give in, give away, and go. We are meant to give all so that the world may know Your love. AUDIENCE: We sacrifice willingly so that others will find eternal life through You. LEADER: Lord, your grace allows us to overcome obstacles that stand in the way of following You. AUDIENCE: We do not sacrifice out of obligation but out of love for Your work of grace in us. (Over)
