February 2, 2018 Each Super Bowl Sunday our youth join youth around the USA to fight hunger in their areas. This year United Presbyterian Youth is accepting monetary donations for the NWA Food Bank and non-perishable food to restock the 7-Hills Homeless Shelter's pantries. 7-Hills needs ramen noodles, canned protein, chunky soups, and canned veggies. The Outreach Committee will be collecting new and gently used coats, hats, and gloves to be donated to 7-Hills for individuals and families in need during these cold months. Please leave items in the boxes on the stage in the Fellowship Hall. Items will be collected through Sunday, February 11. 1

WE ARE GETTING READY FOR A BIG SHROVE TUESDAY CELEBRATION in Fellowship Hall on Tuesday, February 13, at 5:30 p.m. as we prepare for the start of Lent in Mardi Gras fashion! We will be setting festive tables and serving a traditional Fat Tuesday meal. (It was customary for Christians to feast and fill up before they began their Lenten fasting.) If you prefer a lighter meal, we invite you to bring a dinner that matches your diet, but please plan to come for a fun evening. Some of the men of the church will be flipping pancakes. There will be music and, of course, we ll all get to sing When the Saints Go Marching In. All ages will enjoy this! ASH WEDNESDAY WORSHIP begins our Lenten discipline. This reflective service will include prayers and the imposition of ashes. Come to the Sanctuary from 6:00-6:45 p.m. "IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE," a kent R. Brown play, will be performed at the Ozark Mountain Smokehouse, 1725 S. Smokehouse Trail, Fayetteville, February 15-17 at 7:30 p.m. Our own Jacob Christiansen is the director. This Production takes an intimate look at two people's struggle triggered by the events of 9/11. Tickets are free (donations accepted) on a first-come, first-serve 3
basis. Thursday donations benefit Magdalene Serenity House. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. OUR ANNUAL CONGREGATIONAL GATHERING: STATE OF THE CHURCH will take place on Sunday, February 18, from 12:15-1:45 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. A free BBQ meal. More information will come, but for now, please reserve this date on your calendars. THE VIOLIN-PIANO DUO, COLIBRO, will present a concert on Sunday, February 18, at 4:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary. Colibri is the culmination of fifteen years of musical collaboration between violinist Evelyn Petcher and pianist Hannah Mindeman. Colibri has appeared in concert at the U of A and were featured on the guest artist series at JBU in March, 2017. Both committed educators, Colibri enjoy giving workshops alongside their concerts. This concert is free and open to the public. All are invited to hear and enjoy music on the hill. PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN INVITE YOU TO A WINTER TEA on Sunday, February 25, in the Fellowship Hall. Bring your family and friends and drop in any time from 2:00-3:30 p.m. for a cup of hot tea and light refreshments. Ten workshops will be offered (you ll be able to choose three) and we re hoping many of you will want to participate.
