People: I seek You with all my heart; do not let me stray from Your commands. Leader: Remember Your Word to Your servant, for You have given me hope. People: My comfort in my suffering is this: Your promise preserves my life. INVOCATION Leader: Come to us, Almighty God and comfort us in our distress. Put Your praises on our lips and enable our lives to glorify You. Drive the evil one from our lives and make us holy. In Jesus name, we pray. Amen SONGS of PRAISE (hymnal & screen) #542 My Life is In You, Lord Draw Me Close to You CALL TO CONFESSION (Matthew 5:4) Leader: Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Let us mourn over our sins and grieve over the ways we have done evil in this world. Then God will hear our repentance and forgive. Please join me in silent prayer. SILENT PRAYER PRAYER OF CONFESSION Unison: Loving God comfort us in our distress. We have sinned against You and one another and know that we stand condemned before You. Look upon us with mercy and grant

to us Your grace. Our only comfort is Your never-failing love which promises us a Savior to rescue us from death. In Jesus name, we pray. Amen. ASSURANCE OF PARDON (Psalm 119:73-80) Leader: Your hands made me and formed me; give me understanding to learn Your commands. May those who fear You rejoice when they see me, for I have put my hope in Your Word. I know, Lord, that Your laws are righteous, and that in faithfulness You have afflicted me. May Your unfailing love be my comfort, according to Your promise to Your servant. Let Your compassion come to me that I may live, for Your law is my delight. May the arrogant be put to shame for wronging me without cause; but I will meditate on Your precepts. May those who fear You turn to me, those who understand Your statutes. May I wholeheartedly follow Your decrees, that I may not be put to shame.
