Processional Hymn: #345 KING OF GLORY, KING OF PEACE Please stand & sing King of glory, King of peace, I will love thee; and that love may never cease, I will move thee. Thou hast granted my request, thou hast heard me; thou didst note my working breast, thou hast spared me. Wherefore with my utmost art I will sing thee, and the cream of all my heart I will bring thee. Though my sins against me cried, thou didst clear me; and alone, when they replied, thou didst hear me. Seven whole days, not one in seven, I will praise thee; in my heart, though not in heaven, I can raise thee. Small it is, in this poor sort to enrol thee: even eternity's too short to extol thee. The Gathering of the Community The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with you all. People: And also with you. Almighty God, to you all hearts are open, all desires known, and from you no secrets are hidden. Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you, and worthily magnify your holy name; through Christ our Lord. Amen. The Collect of the Day Please kneel or be seated Living God, in Christ, you make all things new. Transform the poverty of our nature by the riches of your grace, and in the renewal of our lives make known your glory; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Reader: A Reading from the Book of Jeremiah. Please be seated Now the word of the Lord came to me saying, Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations. Then I said, Ah, Lord God! Truly I do not know how to speak, for I am only a boy. But the Lord said to me, Do not say, I am only a boy ; for you shall go to all to whom I send you, and you shall speak whatever I command you. Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you, says the Lord. Then the Lord put out his hand and touched my mouth; and the Lord said to me, Now I have put my words in your mouth. See, today I appoint you over nations and over kingdoms, to pluck up and to pull down, to destroy and to overthrow, to build and to plant. Reader: The word of the Lord. Jeremiah 1.4-10 People: Thanks be to God. A moment of silence is observed Psalm 71.1-6 Please remained seated and sing Cantor: Cantor: Cantor: In you, O Lord, have I taken refuge; let me never be ashamed. In your righteousness, deliver me and set me free; incline hyour ear to me and save me. Refrain Be my strong rock, a castle to keep me safe; you are my crag and my stronghold, Deliver me, my God, from the hand of the wicked, from the clutches of the evildoer and the oppressor. Refrain For you are my hope, O Lord God, my confidence since I was young, I have been sustained by your ever since I was born; from my mother s womb you have been my strength; my praise shall be always of you. Refrain Reader: A Reading from the First Letter of Paul to the Corinthians. Please be seated If I speak in the tongues of mortals and of angels, but do not have love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give away all my possessions, and if I hand over my body so that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing. Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful;

it does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends. But as for prophecies, they will come to an end; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will come to an end. For we know only in part, and we prophesy only in part; but when the complete comes, the partial will come to an end. When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child; when I became an adult, I put an end to childish ways. For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then we will see face to face. Now I know only in part; then I will know fully, even as I have been fully known. And now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; and the greatest of these is love. Reader: The word of the Lord. 1 Corinthians 13.1-13 People: Thanks be to God. A moment of silence is observed Sequence Hymn: #446 WORD OF GOD, COME DOWN ON EARTH Please stand & sing The first two verses are sung before the Gospel Word of God, come down on earth, living rain from heaven descending: touch our hearts and bring to birth faith and hope and love unending. Word almighty, we revere you; Word made flesh, we long to hear you. Word eternal, throned on high, Word that brought to life creation, Word that came from heaven to die, crucified for our salvation; saving Word, the world restoring, speak to us, your love outpouring. The last two verses will be sung; after the Gospel. Word that caused blind eyes to see, speak and heal our mortal blindness. Deaf we are: our healer be; loose our tongues to tell your kindness. Be our Word in pity spoken; heal the world by our sin broken. Word that speaks God's tender love, one with God beyond all telling; Word that sends us from above God the Spirit, with us dwelling; Word of truth, to all truth lead us; Word of life, with one bread feed us. The Gospel The Lord be with you. People: And also with you. The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Luke.

Jesus began to say to them, Today this scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing. All spoke well of him and were amazed at the gracious words that came from his mouth. They said, Is not this Joseph s son? He said to them, Doubtless you will quote to me this proverb, Doctor, cure yourself! And you will say, Do here also in your hometown the things that we have heard you did at Capernaum. And he said, Truly I tell you, no prophet is accepted in the prophet s hometown. But the truth is, there were many widows in Israel in the time of Elijah, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, and there was a severe famine over all the land; yet Elijah was sent to none of them except to a widow at Zarephath in Sidon. There were also many lepers in Israel in the time of the prophet Elisha, and none of them was cleansed except Naaman the Syrian. When they heard this, all in the synagogue were filled with rage. They got up, drove him out of the town, and led him to the brow of the hill on which their town was built, so that they might hurl him off the cliff. But he passed through the midst of them and went on his way. The Gospel of Christ. Luke 4.21-30 Sermon The Nicene Creed Please be seated Please stand Let us confess our faith as we say, We believe in one God, the Father, the almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the scriptures; he ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father. With the Father and the Son he is worshipped and glorified. He has spoken through the prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

The Prayers of the People Please kneel or be seated The Priest offers prayers for the church, the world, the sick and the suffering, and those who have died. Leader: Let us offer our prayers to the source of all love and all life, singing, Leader: Merciful Lord, we pray for all who call themselves Christians: for Colin and Phillip our bishops, and each of us in our ministries: that we faithfully live out our calling and rightly proclaim the word of truth. Let us pray. Lord, hear our prayer. Leader: We pray for Elizabeth our Queen, for the leaders of the nations, and all in authority: for the nations of the earth, that you will show your goodwill to all. Let us pray. Lord, hear our prayer. Leader: We pray for the victims of our society and those who minister to them: the poor and oppressed, the captive and the refugee and for all who are sick and suffering. that you will be their help and defence. Let us pray. Lord, hear our prayer. Leader: We pray for those preparing for baptism, and for those recently baptised: that they may join the saints who have found favour in your sight from earliest times, prophets, apostles, martyrs, and those whose names are known to you alone: and we pray that we too may be counted among your faithful witnesses. Let us pray. Lord, hear our prayer. Leader: Almighty God, you have given us grace at this time with one accord to make our common supplications to you, and you have promised through your well-beloved Son that when two or three are gathered together you will hear their requests. Fulfil now our desires and petitions, as may be best for us, granting us in this world knowledge of your truth, and in the age to come eternal life; for you, Father, are good and loving, and we glorify you through your Son Jesus Christ our Lord, in the Holy Spirit, now and for ever. Amen.

Confession and Absolution Please kneel or be seated Dear friends in Christ, God is steadfast in love and infinite in mercy; he welcomes sinners and invites them to his table. Let us confess our sins, confident in God s forgiveness. Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbours as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us, that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your name. Amen. Almighty God have mercy upon you, pardon and deliver you from all your sins, confirm and strengthen you in all goodness, and keep you in eternal life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. People: Amen. The Peace Please stand The peace of the Lord be always with you. People: And also with you. Offertory Hymn: #487 WHERE CHARITY AND LOVE PREVAIL All sing Where charity and love prevail, there God is ever found; brought here together by Christ's love, by love are we thus bound. With grateful joy and holy fear his charity we learn; let us with heart and mind and strength now love him in return. Forgive we now each other's faults as we our faults confess; and let us love each other well in Christian holiness. Let strife among us be unknown, let all contention cease; be his the glory that we seek, be ours his holy peace. Let us recall that in our midst dwells God's begotten Son; as members of his body joined, we are in him made one.

Love can exclude no race or creed if honoured be God's name; our common life embraces all whose Father is the same. Offertory Sentence All sing The Celebration of the Eucharist God of steadfast love, may our offering this day, by the power of your Holy Spirit, renew us for your service. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ the Lord. Amen. You created us to love you with all our heart, and to love each other as ourselves, but we rebel against you by the evil that we do. In Jesus, your Son, you bring healing to our world and gather us into one great family. Therefore, with all who serve you on earth and in heaven, we praise your wonderful name, as we sing,

SANCTUS - - - - - - - - - - - - Ho-ly Ho-ly Ho - ly Lord, God of pow-er and might; Heav'n and Earth are full of your glo - ry, Ho - san - na in the high - est. All sing Bless-ed is he who comes in the name of the Lord; Ho - san - na in the high - est. Please kneel or be seated We give you thanks and praise, loving Father, because in sending Jesus, your Son, to us you showed us how much you love us you showed us how much you love us. He cares for the poor and the hungry. He suffers with the sick and the rejected. Betrayed and forsaken, he did not strike back but overcame hatred with love. On the cross he defeated the power of sin and death. By raising him from the dead you show us the power of your love to bring new life to all your people. All sing: Glory to you forever and ever On the night before he gave up his life for us, Jesus, at supper with his friends, took bread, give thanks to you, broke it, and gave it to them, saying, Take this, all of you, and eat it: this is my body which is given for you. After supper, Jesus took the cup of wine, said the blessing, gave it to his friends, and said, Drink this, all of you: this is the cup of my blood, the blood of the new and eternal covenant, which is shed for you and for many, so that sins may be forgiven. Do this in memory of me. All sing: Glory to you forever and ever Gracious God, with this bread and wine we celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus, and we offer ourselves to you in him. Send your Holy Spirit on us and on these gifts, that we may know the presence of Jesus in the breaking of bread, and share in the life of the family of your children. All sing: Glory to you forever and ever

Father, you call us to be your servants; fill us with the courage and love of Jesus, that all the world may gather in joy at the table of your kingdom. We sing your praise, almighty Father, through Jesus, our Lord, in the power of the Holy Spirit, now and for ever. Glo-ry to you for-ev-er and ev-er! A - men. The Lord s Prayer All sing unaccompanied

We break the bread of life, and that life is the light of the world. God here among us, light in the midst of us, bring us to light and life. The gifts of God for the People of God. People: Thanks be to God. AGNUS DEI take a Lamb of God, Lamb of God, you - way the sin of the world, have mer-cy, have mer - cy on us. take a Lamb of God, Lamb of God, you - way the sin of the world; grant us your peace. Grant us your peace. All sing The Communion All baptized Christians are invited to receive Holy Communion. Please come forward to the Altar rail and stand or kneel as you prefer.

Communion Hymn: #98 HARK THE GLAD SOUND! THE SAVIOUR COME All sing Hark the glad sound! The Saviour comes, the Saviour promised long: let every heart prepare a throne, and every voice a song. Christ comes, the prisoners to release in Satan's bondage held; the gates of brass before him burst; the iron fetters yield. Christ comes, the broken heart to bind, the bleeding soul to cure, and from the treasuries of grace to bless the humble poor. Our glad hosannas, Prince of Peace, thy welcome shall proclaim; and heaven's eternal arches ring with thy beloved name. Communion Hymn: #653 - GRACIOUS SPIRIT, HOLY GHOST All sing Gracious Spirit, Holy Ghost, taught by thee, we covet most, of thy gifts at Pentecost, holy, heavenly love. Love is kind, and suffers long; love is meek, and thinks no wrong; love than death itself more strong; therefore give us love. Prophecy will fade away, melting in the light of day; love will ever with us stay; therefore give us love. Faith will vanish into sight; hope be emptied in delight; love in heaven will shine more bright; therefore give us love. Faith and hope and love we see joining hand in hand agree; but the greatest of the three, and the best, is love. From the overshadowing of thy gold and silver wing shed on us, who to thee sing, holy, heavenly love. Prayer after Communion Source of all goodness, in this eucharist we are nourished by the bread of heaven and invigorated with new wine. May these gifts renew our lives, that we may show your glory to all the world, in the name of Jesus Christ the Lord. Amen.

Glory to God whose power working in us can do infinitely more than we can ask or imagine. Glory to God from generation to generation, in the Church and in Christ Jesus for ever and ever. Amen. The Blessing & Announcements Recessional Hymn: #631 THE KINGDON OF GOD Please stand & sing The kingdom of God is justice and joy, for Jesus restores what sin would destroy. God's power and glory in Jesus we know, and here and hereafter the kingdom shall grow. The kingdom of God is mercy and grace; the captives are freed, the sinners find place. The outcasts are welcomed God's banquet to share, and hope is awakened in place of despair. The kingdom of God is challenge and choice: believe the good news, repent and rejoice! His love for us sinners brought Christ to his cross, our crisis of judgement for gain and for loss. God's kingdom is come, the gift and the goal, in Jesus begun, in heaven made whole. The heirs of the kingdom shall answer his call, and all things cry "Glory!" to God All in All. Dismissal Go forth in the name of the Christ. Alleluia. People: Thanks be to God. Alleluia!
