Promptings, Easter comes at last, as we conclude the long journey through the season of Lent. We can and do anticipate Easter s arrival. Easter is a calendared date. We would be surprised and dismayed if Easter somehow failed to happen. Try to imagine the perspective of the women and men who had followed Jesus over the course of His ministry. Not a one of them dreamed of the possibility of His resurrection. When Jesus died on the cross, their hopes died as well. Even when the women brought word of the resurrection to the other disciples, they found the news almost impossible to believe. They struggled to believe not only because of the resurrection s uniqueness, but also because of its implications. If Jesus, indeed, had risen, their take on what mattered and what was possible in life would require drastic revision. Fortunately for us, most of them eventually chose to accept the challenges posed by the resurrection. As we gather to celebrate the resurrection on Easter Sunday morning 2019, take a few moments and ask yourself: What must change in the way I see the world in general, others, and myself in light of the resurrection of Jesus?
