Eucharistic Adoration--LENT What is the Catholic Charismatic Renewal (CCR) movement? With an office at the Vatican, (ICCRS), the CCR movement is an ongoing action of the Holy Spirit in our lives to bring us into a closer relationship with Jesus. It is both a search for personal holiness and a means to share our talents and gifts (charisms) with others in order to build up the body of Christ (the Church). The movement nourishes both individual and community spiritual growth. God speaks to us and heals us through the gifts of others and He uses us to speak and heal others through the gifts. When filled with the Holy Spirit, many notice a true love for Jesus and a strong desire to learn more about Him, and to do his will by serving others. In other words, they want to share Jesus with everyone. The seven gifts of the Holy Spirit: wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety and fear of the Lord are received at the sacrament of Baptism, strengthened in Confirmation and given to sustain the moral life of Christians. The spiritual gifts mentioned in 1Cor 12:1-11 include the expression of wisdom, the expression of knowledge, faith, healing, mighty deeds, prophecy, discernment of spirits, tongues, and interpretation of tongues. These gifts are also referred to as charisms. A charism is a grace freely given by God to build up the church, as opposed to the graces given to sanctify the individual. Charisms may include any authentic manifestation of the Spirit. In reality, the Holy Spirit IS the gift. The rest are descriptors of the Spirit s activity. We are blessed to have a Charismatic Prayer Group that meets every Wednesday evening at 7:30 pm in our Chapel here at Sacred Heart. If you are interested, please join us. If you would like more information about our group or where Charismatic resources can be found, please contact Jean Gottel at gotbean77@yahoo.com or call 610-507-2486. After the Last Supper, Jesus went with His friends to the Garden of Gethsemane and there He asked them, Could you not watch one hour with me? (Mt 26: 40) This is the same invitation and question that Jesus asks us. Instead of giving up treats this Lent, why not consider spending some quiet time with Our Lord Jesus Christ. He is always waiting for you and speaks to you in the silence. Eucharistic Adoration is open to all and is held every Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:45 p.m., followed by 7:00 p.m. Mass. The only needed is an open heart to Jesus Christ. You may come at anytime and stay for any length of time. We are in need of scheduled adorers for 8:00 a.m., 9:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m., and Noon. If you are interested in becoming an adorer, or would like to know more about Eucharistic Adoration, you may contact Joann Di Liberto at 610 932 8962 or you may leave your contact information in the grey box in the Narthex (next to the Statue of the Sacred Heart), and Joann will contact you. Chosen Fathers A Ministry of Mutual Support for Fathers of Children with Special Needs This ministry brings together fathers (and brothers, uncles and grandfathers) of children and adults with special needs for faith sharing, conversation, and mutual support. Being a good dad day-in and day-out is not an easy task. Yet raising children with special needs can make fatherhood even more challenging. We invite fathers of children with physical, mental, sensory, or emotional challenges to attend a meeting of this group aimed at enabling dads to follow Christ's example of love, patience, mercy and service in raising and supporting their children and families.
