Maplewood Baptist Church MBC November 2015 Volume 23, No. 11 Rev. Jimmy Lancaster, Pastor Tis the Season for Shoeboxes Ingathering Sunday November 15th The POWER of a Simple Gift Operation Christmas Child brings joy and hope to children in desperate situations around the world. It is an easy missions project that every member and family can participate in by bringing a gift-filled shoe box to church over the next several weeks. Complete details are outlined in the OCC brochure located on the table in the Narthex. Once you fill your shoeboxes, bring them to church on or before - Sunday - Nov 15th! Your expression of LOVE does make a difference in the LIFE of a child and reveals to them the true GIFT of Christmas. As you pack your shoebox... Please DO NOT INCLUDE any used or damaged items, chocolate or food, liquids or lotions, medications or vitamins, aerosol cans, War-related items like toy guns, knives, military figures, Harry Potter or Pokémon and Breakable items like snow globes, glass containers. Fill your shoebox with fun toys, hygiene items (place soap & washcloth in Ziploc bag), candy (tootsie rolls, gum, mints, lollipops), clothing (underwear, socks, t-shirt, croc type shoes), puzzles & picture books, school supplies & a WOW toy such as a doll, stuffed animal, watch, jewelry, sports ball & pump, etc. Most importantly, PRAY for the child who will receive your shoebox & consider including a personal note and photo. Last year, we collected 97 shoeboxes...we ve set a GOAL of 125 shoeboxes and it can easily be reached if each family would simply pack ONE more than last year. The cost of shipping the shoeboxes has generously been donated by our Sisters in Christ!! It is their desire for YOU to do as many shoeboxes as you can...this way many children will experience the POWER of the message of Christmas!!

Nearly 80% of the children & families who are served by the Baptist Children s Homes are unreached for Christ! Your participation makes this change possible and helps BCH fulfill their mission of helping hurting children...healing broken families.
