On August 26 we will be welcoming a representative from Safe Families for Children, a volunteer-driven nonprofit that provides support to families in the community. If you are interested in foster care, or would like to learn more about Safe Families for Children, you can attend an informational meeting in the Refuge after the morning service. As Wednesday night meals are quickly approaching, we are looking for individuals that would be willing to donate ground beef. The Maurice Women s Ministry will be hosting a Ladies Coffee for our Pastor s wife Stacy Hoekstra after the morning service on August 19. Please stop in the Fireside Room to join in a time of fellowship with Stacy! August 12 Church BBQ We will be having an all church BBQ on August 12. HOWEVER, we are still in need of volunteers! If you are willing to help serve, please sign up at the information center. In addition, we are also in need of anyone who would be willing to make bars. Bars can be brought to the catering kitchen. A new Bible study is coming to Orange City & we are in need of childcare volunteers! Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) is a worldwide Bible study, and this fall, a satellite location is starting in Orange City. It will meet on Thursday mornings from 10-11:30 am at Calvary CRC. We have had a tremendous response with over 80 women signing up, many of whom are young moms with little kids. We would like to provide nursery for the children so that their moms are able to study The Word freely, without interruption and come away being refreshed in the Lord! Are you able to volunteer your time on Thursday mornings to help? You would be an answer to prayers and a blessing to so many! 6 Weeks Until Life Groups Kick Off! Today we start signing up for Life Groups! What you need to know: There are two ways to sign up: 1. Sign up in the Fellowship Hall. You ll see a table with sign-up sheets listing each group, it s leader, location, times, and other important information. If you d like to join that group, simply sign your name. 2. Sign up online. Go to MRC s website (www.mauricereformed.org) and navigate to the Life Groups page. Form there, you ll see all the groups and important information. Click Join This Group when you find the one that ll be a good fit for you. The sooner you sign up, the more options you ll have! If you have any questions, feel free to ask Don DeKok, Marissa Maassen, or any Life Group leader. Sign ups will continue throughout August. Children s Ministry needs your help! Here are several ways you can volunteer: Be a Pioneer Club volunteer several different areas available! Be a Pal for a student in Pioneer Club Offer to help on the special nights at Pioneer Club! We need lots of helping hands to make these nights possible! Be a Sunday School teacher you will be blessed! Be a G2G (Generation to Generation) grandpa or grandma. Pray for a class of students all year long! They will pray for you too! Offer to create or help put up bulletin boards several times a year. Direct the Children s Christmas program! Immerse & Power Connection Share Night August 12, 5:30 pm in the Refuge We will be hearing from the Jr. GAPpers and Sr. Highers, as well as adult leaders, about their experiences and how God was at work during their mission trips (Immerse and Power Connection). Invite family and friends to be a part of this special night! 2018 MRC Youth Group Fantasy League Fantasy Football is BACK! Contact Jon Eveland for more information, and if you would like to be a part of the fantasy football league. This is open to all students 6th-12th grade. Youth Ministry Parents Meeting September 5 at 7 PM The Refuge Youth Group is right around the corner (begins September 12!). During this meeting, we will go over the schedule, theme for the year, fill out waiver forms and go over other important information regarding another youth group season we encourage all parents to attend! Please contact Jon Eveland if you are unable to attend, so you may receive the information. Youth Group Time Change (Beginning September 12) - This fall, we will be starting with two separate times for Jr. GAP & Sr. High. The new times are as follows: Jr. GAP 6:20-7:30 PM; Sr. High 7:50-9:00 PM With this new time structure, we know that there may be potential challenges that arise regarding transportation, especially for those with multiple children in different age groups. We want to help alleviate any concerns or stress with this and plan to utilize carpooling. If you will be needing assistance with transportation for your Jr. GAPpers or Sr. Higher on Wednesday evenings, OR if you are willing to help with carpooling and are able to give rides home for students in need, please contact Jon Eveland prior to the Youth Ministry Parents Meeting on September 5 so that the Youth Ministry Team can begin to organize transportation. We want to ensure that all students are able to participate in Youth Group, and do not want transportation to be a hindrance in students involvement in Jr. GAP or Sr. High. On another note, we will continue to have Wednesday Night Worship once a month. More information concerning this will be coming soon!
Sunday, August 5 Tuesday, August 7 9 AM Staff Meeting Sunday, August 12 5:30 PM Mission Trip Share Night The Refuge Church Family Prayer Prayer Concerns: Please keep the Buddens in your prayers as Chris is likely moving to a nursing home in Remsen. Please pray that this transition goes smoothly for all involved. Please pray for Brent DeKok as he will be having surgery on Wednesday to remove the tumor on his lung. Pray that the surgery will be successful and that he may have a speedy recovery. Please keep Carrie Vander Schaaf in your prayers. She was able to have her splint removed so pray for her as she now works on gaining her strength back. Sympathy: We extend our sympathy to the family of Alice Vander Broek as Alice passed away on August 1. Visitation will be tonight from 6-8 pm at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange city. A funeral service will be held at MRC tomorrow morning at 10:00. And we continue to remember Isaac Schmidt, Lorna Bylsma, Ryan Vander Sluis, Ruth Heidebrink, Bryan Van Gelder, Pam De Haan, Gloria Wierda, & Val Dykstra in our prayers.
