Thursday, March 7 9:00-11:00am, Women s Bible Study Grace: Ephesians Friday, March 8 6:00-8:00pm, God s Girls Crisis of Belief In the study Experiencing God: Knowing and Doing the Will of God there is a reality presented called the crisis of belief. This is a moment when you are faced with taking a step of obedience to God that reveals what you believe about God. A clear illustration of this reality is a story from the ministry of Jesus. (Mark 9:14-29) Jesus, along with Peter, James, and John, had been on a mountain where Jesus was transfigured before them. The other disciples had remained at the foot of the mountain. A man brought his demonized son to them for healing but the disciples were not able to help him. When Jesus arrived, he saw and assessed the situation and asked the man what he wanted. The man described the self-destructive behavior of his son and asked if Jesus could help him. Jesus challenged the man to believe in Him. The man replied, I believe, help my unbelief. We can all identify with that man. We know we believe but know also that we can grow in our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Last Sunday was Challenge Sunday for our Changing Lives Capital Campaign. As we seek God s direction of how He is inviting each of us to participate, it will bring us to a crisis of faith. It will starkly expose the degree to which we place our lives under the lordship of Jesus Christ. It will challenge us as to how self-centered or God-centered we really are at this time in our discipleship journey. Let this be a beautiful and wonderful opportunity to grow in your relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ. Let the crisis of belief clearly reveal where you are now with God. Allow it to show you the step that will help you draw near to Him. Experience the struggle, but like the man in the story, call out to God to help you get from where you are to where you need to be. The right step in the crisis of belief is obedience to the clear direction of God. As we take these steps it will prepare us and others to meet Jesus. MINISTRY OPPORTUNITY There is an opportunity for those who are interested in helping refugees coming into the Fox Valley get settled. Anyone who is interested in learning more about this should call or email Jerry Mugg, 730-9199 or jmugg@new.rr.com. Please indicate which evening or weekend afternoon would be preferable for attending a meeting at which all of the specifics would be presented. World Relief of the Fox Valley is an NGO which has a contract with the government to settle any refugees sent to the Valley. They do this by working with churches. Churches that are interested are asked to form teams of 6-10 people to be known as Good Neighbors. These teams receive training by World Relief. When the refugees arrive (which can occur with as little as two weeks notice), the team meets them, takes them to the apartment which World Relief has secured, and helps them get settled. This can involve a variety of things but will include taking them to many appointments, teaching them how to shop, possibly finding suitable clothing and teaching English. World Relief recognizes the value of prayer support by the entire church and does not limit spiritual conversations or invitations to attend church; however, it could take some time before that would be possible. Certainly as Christian love is shown, the possibilities increase. Save the Date Church Picnic Saturday, June 2nd 12:30 p.m.

Women s Thursday Morning Bible Study A Message from God: Light Living in Dark Days A flexible inductive study of 1 John by Pam Gillaspie Thursdays April 11-May 23 9:00-11:00 am Valley Baptist Welcome Center In our day, everything from music to politics is described as "Christian," but are they? Is Jesus what our society or culture says He is? And who are the people who belong to Him? How can you know? Biblical truth can only be understood straight from God's Word, not opinion polls. In A Message From God: Light Living in a Dark World you'll unpack 1John in just seven weeks and see God's message for yourself without the "middleman" of others' opinions and ideas! This study will include weekly homework, class discussion, and video teaching by Pam Gillaspie. Sign-up sheets and books will be available in the church lobby March 18 For questions, contact Christina Warne at christinaw1@sbcglobal.net Childcare will be available for this study. Sign up at the table in the lobby. For questions, or to volunteer to serve in childcare, contact Paula Weber 920-585-5196 or gandpweber@gmail.com
