PRAYER OF CONFESSION Sean Patrick Coady One: Almighty God, from the ends of the earth you have gathered us around Christ s holy table. We come to the feast together. One: Have mercy on your church, troubled and divided. Renew us and make us one. One: Forgive us for stifling your praise with our complaints. Renew us and make us one. One: Forgive us for silencing the songs of others with our pride. Renew us and make us one. One: Forgive us for our warring chants that destroy humanity. Renew us and make us one. One: Free us from every sin that divides your children. Free us, renew us and make us one. (silence) One: In Christ s name we pray, ASSURANCE OF GOD S GRACE Amen. One: Through Christ we are forgiven and freed; In Christ we are reconciled and renewed. Thanks be to God. Alleluia! Amen! *PASSING THE PEACE OF CHRIST One: The peace of Christ be with you, and also with you. Please stand and share a greeting of peace with one another. *SUNG RESPONSE No.394 In Christ There Is No East or West SCRIPTURE SERMON John 13, excerpted And the Table Will Be Wide 2

SUNG RESPONSE And the Table Will Be Wide And the table will be wide. And the welcome will be wide. And the arms will open wide to gather us in. And our hearts will open wide to receive. Refrain And we will come as children who trust there is enough. And we will come unhindered and free. And our aching will be met with bread. And our sorrow will be met with wine. Refrain And we will open our hands to the feast without shame. And we will turn toward each other without fear. And we will give up our appetite for despair. And we will taste and know of delight. Refrain And we will become bread for a hungering world. And we will become drink for those who thirst. And the blessed will become the blessing. And everywhere will be the feast. Refrain PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE THE LORD S PRAYER Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. 3
