4 WELCOME TO ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH MECHANICSVILLE & TIPTON IOWA WWW.STMARYSTIPTON.NET REFLECTION A s Jesus continued his journey to Jerusalem, he traveled through Samaria and Galilee. As he was entering a village, ten lepers met him. They stood at a distance from him and raised their voices, saying, Jesus, Master! Have pity on us! And when he saw them, he said, Go show yourselves to the priests. As they were going they were cleansed. And one of them, realizing he had been healed, returned, glorifying God in a loud voice; and he fell at the feet of Jesus and thanked him. He was a Samaritan. Jesus said in reply, Ten were cleansed, were they not? Where are the other nine? Has none but this foreigner returned to give thanks to God? Then he said to him, Stand up and go; your faith has saved you. LK 17:11-19 QUESTION OF THE WEEK Theme: We are Eucharistic people. We live in praise and thanksgiving. Step One: Listen to the Word Listen carefully to the Gospel of this week. What image in this story strikes you most forcefully? What word or phrase caught your ear? Step Two: Look into Your Life Question for Children: Make up a prayer which tells God you are thankful for everything you have, even if it s not all you want. Question for Youth: Only one of the lepers returned to give thanks. This past week, when have you stopped to thank someone for something good they have done for you? When have you thanked God this week? Question for Adults: What are some ways you can think of to show gratitude to God? Make them concrete and real.
