December 2012 Grand Knight s Report Brother Knights, It seems like I was just writing about the Luau and how great it was and all of a sudden, it is the Christmas Season! This time of year gives us time to reflect on how thankful we are for all of the fruits we share during Thanksgiving and preparing ourselves for the birth of our Lord!!! Christmas is not only a time for all of our little rug rats to be looking up the chimney with glee but also a time where we can contemplate the reason for the season. It has never been more important for us, as Knights of Columbus, to keep Christ in Christmas. We can do this each and every day through prayer and reflection. We can do it by attending our council Light up for Christ celebration on December 4. We can do it by sharing with our friends and relatives. And we can do it by counting our blessings. There are thousands of ways we can celebrate Christmas!! I was fortunate enough to spend a week in Disney World in Florida with my kids and grand kids in November. It was a magical time to watch cousins becoming closer with their cousins and enjoying a once in a lifetime opportunity to (Continued on page 3) Keep Christ in Christmas (Chuck Robertson) The The Knightly News News Knights of Columbus St. Joseph s Parish Council 9202 By John Freschi Division V, District 5 This years drive was a huge success considering almost 50% of potential revenue as compared to last year was lost due to a labor strike at Raley s. Even so, the final amount we collected was $4,300.00. This was only short of last year by $300.00. Coming this close was made possible by the generous contributions from our fellow Knights who met the Paul Kiesel challenge which is to donate at least $50.00 to the drive, or $1.00 per week. These Knights all deserve a great big thank you from all of us. Those who met the challenge were Father Eric, Jim Cofer, Chris Moloney, Bob Emge, Bernie Hofmann, Bob White, John Freschi, Jack Mahan, Joe Delorio, Howard Stohlman, Ken Austin, Kevin Blake, Paul Kiesel, Phil Arnautou, Jerry Zimmerman, Steve Milo, Jerry Bradford, Joe Accurso and Jim Horan This was a record number of Knights who stepped up to meet this years challenge. Knights who volunteered to work the I.D. Drive, some of whom are pictured in this issue, are Jerry Bradford, Don Budde, Phil Arnautou, Richard Contreras, Frank Neves, R. Siewkiewicz, Frank Messina, Joe Accurso, Ed Korphage, Rich Lercari, Rich Conigliaro, Gene Scallon, Joe Delorio, ID DRIVE 2012 William Wimsatt, Tom Young, John Freschi, Bob Cernok, Fran Mahan, Ron Morin, Pat Gonzales, George Black, Steve Milo, Bob Emge, Kevin Blake, Gary Rivera, Billy Casino, Jim Lehman, Mike Delaney, Jack Henricks, Chris Moloney, Jerry Zimmerman, Paul Kiesel, Bill Pausch, George Coffos, Art Wehr, Sonny Solich, Jim Cofer, Ross Alessandro, Bob Benkowski, Vic Albertazzi, Margaret Wehr, Bruce Robinson, Bob & Chris Beasley, Roger & Elvie Espiritu. The Holidays Are Fast Approaching!! Now that the holidays are fast approaching! Can you believe it will soon be 2013? I hope that 2012 has been a healthy, prosperous year for you and your family. It s said that time flies, and the older we get, the more that statement seems true. As we review the past year and prepare to welcome a new one, we wonder where the time goes. You re like most people, you ve made some resolutions for 2013. If I may, I d like to make two suggestions regarding your resolutions. First, write them down. A resolution is really a goal for the year and, until you commit a goal to writing, it s nothing more than a wish. Writing a resolution down is the first step towards achieving it. Whether your goal is to lose weight, contribute more time and money to charity, read more or watch less television, you re more likely to accomplish it if you write it down. Second, schedule some time to visit with me, your professional Knights of Columbus insurance agent. The insurance check-up that I ll provide (free of charge, by the way!) will quickly identify any gaps in your family s life insurance program. And you ll want to fill those gaps now, not later. Because unlike many other products, you need more than money to obtain life insurance. You also need good health, and no one will ring a bell warning you when your health is about to change. Knights of Columbus life insurance offers something precious few other financial products can guarantees. As long as you pay your premiums, the policy proceeds will be there for your beneficiaries should something happen to you. We call that peace of mind, and that s (as they say in the credit card commercials) priceless. This Holiday Season, keep in mind the real meaning of CHRISTmas. Keeping CHRIST in CHRISTmas. Take time to enjoy your family and friends. Think of those things God has given us. Remember that you are the one who your family counts on for tomorrow s support. The Knights of Columbus is here to help assure that mission is met. May you and your family have a very Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year!!!!! Disney was decorated to the tees with Christmas trees, toy soldiers, magical characters, etc. The one thing that stood out to me was that I was unable to find a Nativity scene anywhere??
